Personally, I like to paint the parts first and glue it together afterwards. That way you can paint all the parts easy while if you glued it together, it becomes harder or impossible.

Whoa, that's an idea... Put some of those spare bits to use and have a way to hold them while you paint

I need a better sand paper file. I just got one for nails and the scratch marks are far to deep and wide lol. Good thing I tested it on a sprew.

7:05 - what grit is that sanding stick please?

We don't go by grit. We go by feel. The grit is irrelevant. There's a natural logic that a "fine" sanding stick is a high grit whereas rough is, well, a lower grit. Google flory models for nice sets of sanding sticks. That's what Bobby's been using in this video. I have them too, wouldn't change them for a file or sanding paper or anything else in the world. They just do the job and do it well.

I've been kind of wanting to give these figures a go for a long time. This tutorial didn't quite help ease the urge at all...

"Basic Tutorial" Doesn't talk about what goes where, what needs to be cut from the sprues and what pieces actual belongs to the model. No answer to the mystery of how the fuck does the head peg fit in the head hole in the chest. Only instructional material is "sand and glue sand and glue sand and glue".

The head peg is supposed to go in-between the two chest prices, but yeah not very good and has a lot of gaps

In-between the two pieces before you push them together, it's helpful to glue it to one half and then put the other one on. You could also cut off the head peg off the bottom and just put it in on an already glued together neck
