Your new method worked perfectly. I was having a bit of trouble connecting my PS4, I just had to select PS4 >8.0 and I was having trouble reading the font from your website so I couldn't tell if I had an upper case "i" or a lower case "L" so I just signed in through the deck and use the copy feature instead of typing it by hand.

Even better. Xbox cloud gaming is fully supported by steam deck. There’s official directions on Microsoft. Sony doesn’t want to do this. Sucks since I prefer the ps5 and wanna travel and play but I guess it’s the series x on steam deck via cloud.

Your new tool made this easy!! No lie tho I had to try a few times for the ps4 but If you use 2.4ghz Wi-Fi and enable the ps vita remote play you will be able to connect no problem but choose the last Ps4 option

It works perfectly. ZERO LAG!! I had my PS4 connected by wire (Ethernet 6) and my steam deck on the Wifi (5G). I just found 1 issue and it is that once in a game you cannot get back to your PS menu like you could do with your PS Remote by pressing a button. Any idea? Also, you cannot leave the remote session unless you force it by closing Chiaki. So if you want to put your PS4 to sleep, you need to leave and then start it again and now put it to sleep. thanks!!!

Another solution is to add chitaki to steam as a non steam game and select an easy to configure controller profile. Now I just hit the touch pad as a ps button

Tutorial worked great. Playstation connects and plays in desktop mode, but when I launch Chiaki in Game mode it shows the system but I can't reliably get system to come out of rest mode, or change from the device selection screen. Any advice?

You can only do this on your wifi, but I'm looking into what it would take to set up a remote LAN.

Thanks to your video I got it working but one thing is not clear to me. Which button(s) mimmick the PS button? I can load a game but can't get out of it because the PS button is not available to me. I am sure I am missing something that should be obvious.

You can press "STEAM + Left D-Pad" to open the PS menu. It mimics the esc key on the keyboard.

I’m a little concerned about what chiaki can do on my steam deck and what it has control over I know people say just look at the source code but I’m not at all savvy on code not only that but I’m concerned about possible data collection or spying (yes I realize I’m connecting to a ps4 I don’t like it either but I wanna play with family)

The credentials used with chiaki can be invalidated and shouldn't leak anything like passwords or too personal be collected.

Idk it’s been so long sense I stopped using it that I don’t even remember what the issue was specificly. It was some sort of request error and when I looked it up it said someone about the “handshake” or lik verification between the ps4 and chiaki idk it doesn’t make much sense to me

Question on this and apologies if it was asked already. Let’s say I am playing cyberpunk 2077. If I remote play on the PlayStation 5 I assume that the battery would last much longer Because the processing is being done by the console. Question is… What type of drain does this have on the battery compared to playing through the decks hardware? I don’t really see a big difference playing cyberpunk on the deck or playing remote through the PlayStation. In fact I think it’s actually better.

I got this to work great on my home network, but I want to play away from home as well. When I use my mobile hotspot, Chiaki doesn't pick up my Playstation 5 because it isn't on the same network. I am stumped on what to do now.

There are ways to trick your devices to work as if they were on the same local network, but that would require a whole other video to explain.

thank you! got it working! had to bind Esc key to the back button for ps menu though. but starting chiaki in 'gaming mode' won't let me shut down the app after sending my ps4 to sleep. closing it with the steam menu does not work. there is no button in chiaki either. how do i close chiaki?
