And with many other games getting HD makeovers, here are some that companies and sometimes even gamers themselves have forgotten about that definitely need some modern love.

The first Silent Hill - loved that game, but man, it does look very dated and the clumsy controls should be reworked. Phantasy Star I - my first RPG, and I'd love to see it in a remastered form, on the Switch, so I can lay in bed and reminisce and enjoy a fully orchestrated version of the soundtrack, beautifully hand drawn graphics... perhaps done by the awesome guys that made the Wonder Boy III remake

I did a 100% HD retexture of Castlevania Legacy of Darkness with over 3000 textures. My first version is out in the wild, but I went back and redid the first 3 lvl's to bring them up to the quality I had achieved by the end of the first time through. Though I've never released it. Should I come back to the scene and make a new release? (You can see it by googling "Castlevania LOD hires texture pack" for my forum on emutalk).

Willing to pay for it? I don't have the free time like I did back then. For Castlevania LOD I'd have to spend at least a little more time on it as I stopped right in the middle of the second retexture of the Villa stage, and there are some textures that have a large number or shape hand drawn on them so I can identify them for placement in game. I'm also (getting caught up in) spreading the word that I've done work on Body Harvest. I need to figure out which one should take priority. Castlevania LOD will likely take priority as it only needs a little wrapping up, where as Body Harvest is huge and I'd have a looong way to go to finish it. If you want to see a peek at some very early work on the Body Harvest pack (as of the last time I uploaded pics for it) then you can google "Body Harvest HD Texture pack" and check out my other forum on Emutalk for it. ;) Maybe I'm putting feelers out to see if I should create a patreon (or the like) and make it something I'll commit to (?). Thoughts?

I'm with you Dave.. I've wanted a Jumping Flash 1 & 2 HD remaster since the others started popping up on the PS3... Then when Parappa Remastered came out for the PS4, and yet again I felt JF would be right at home here... And yes, with PSVR. I think it would be perfect in VR, maybe a bit nauseating, but totally worth the Robbit vomit!! Yeah! :)

The Mega Man Legends games were the first titles I thought of when I started up this episode. They could definitely use HD remasters with enhanced character models, widescreen, refined controls, and a unified voice cast. Toss in the Misadventures of Tron Bonne, and you’d have one helluva set. Those games were were some of my favorites back on the PS1, and it’s a damned shame they’ve never really been compiled outside of a set of ports on the PSP in Japan.

FINALLY! Some love for Skies of Arcadia. Now personally I only have ever played the Gamecube port which also added in some new missions and discoveries. I'd rather see that version get the HD remake. I've been wanting it for YEARS now. Get on it SEGA!

Labyrinth9000 yea I've noticed how pricey it's gotten as well. I got mine years ago for $20 on a whim purchase. No regrets doing so. Mines in relatively good shape as well. One of my favorite games for the GameCube. I never owned a dreamcast personally

I found a copy complete in box for Gamecube on Amazon for $65 a couple weeks ago. Was in great condition, too. Super glad I got that one again at a decent, albeit still kinda high, price.

No because the code was compiled onto the disc. That's different from the source. All the disc files would really give you is binary. If they wanted to re-release it, they would have to re-create it from the ground up.

That game is from the last generation. Just buy the steam version and play it in 4K. I'd personally really like a remaster or even simply a port of Burnout Revenge, the 360 version.

I always liked Shenmue. People put it down because of how it's created and played. It certainly would compete in today's market seeing how most games are made today. Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, Romancing Saga series and of course Skies of Arcadia would rock. There are alot more I would post but I don't want this to become too long. Anywho, good luck on getting a game from Sega to be made. Unless it has Sonic in it somewhere, Sega has no interest. Sad really because Sega would benefit from alot of their own IPs and grow it's fan base even more. Nonetheless, I think Sega should change their name. Soga = Sonic Games.

I dunno. Yakuza feels and plays like classic SEGA to me and it is picking up popularity in the West at the moment. I'm at the end of Yakuza 0 and plan on picking up Yakuza Kiwami when I've finished it.

Romancing SaGa 2 did get a remake on PS4/XB/Switch/PC/iOS/Android though. Pretty hard game.

A similar complaint has been leveled towards LucasArts about only making Star Wars games. It is a sad day when people remember Guybrush Threepwood, Sam and Max about as well as they remember Bobbin Threadbare. Nobody remembers Bobbin Threadbare or anything about his mother. This is why main characters are not suppose to die in Lucasarts games.

Uh... Game Sack Dave, Midway is no longer around for a remaster or a remake of Gauntlet: Dark Legacy since Midway has closed down in 2010 due to a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. But all is not lost since Warner Bros. owns most of Midway's video game franchises, and yes that also includes Gauntlet, so one day maybe WB Games might remake or remaster Dark Legacy.

donkeynovCountry25 You may have been playing the Chinese NES bootleg of DKC. What I saw with DKC on the SNES was an amazing looking platformer, with tight game play, and fun level design. A game which in fact tricked many video game journalists, back in 1994, into thinking it was using extra enhancement chip technology to achieve "near 32-bit graphics" with its amazingly fluid animation, and well thought out color palette.

... same... bad... hit... detection... and... mundane... Okay... as somebody who remembers when Donkey Kong Country came out, let me say that most video games at the time had even WORSE level design. I mean, I can see where various levels could be improved--and part of the fun was the funky hit detection (yeah, it sucks when it doesn't work in your favour--but once you figure it out, you can make it work against the baddies--and that is when the HILARIOUS shit starts to get thrown around)... But considering this game was competing against so many damned Share-ware side scrolling platformers inspired by Duke Nukem and Dangerous Dan in Copyright Infringement Land (okay... maybe those were a few years before DKC)... and shit on the SNES like "Rex Ronan: Experimental Surgeon" which I fucking hated that game, and my little brother claimed to love it--but I'm 100% convinced he played it just to piss me off. If anything, the only reason that game didn't get me to start smoking was I lived in a small town (so I couldn't buy my own smokes), the one parent that did smoke counted all her cigarettes (and if she THOUGHT one was missing, she break shit and hit people) and my little brother would have certainly narc me if I did. No... seriously grab a copy of "Rex Ronan: Experimental Surgeon" to play on an emulator, and understand that between video game consoles, retail software and shareware--the market was flooded with platformers that played and responded on par with Rex Ronan. People don't talk about those games--and hell, I only remember Rex Ronan so vividly because my little brother lied about liking it, and played it to piss me off. I think there might have also been a time where we had all the SNES games confiscated except that one as a punishment or something. So yeah... by today's standards... Donkey Kong Country does have some spots it could improve. Though, keep in mind, the AI of Warcraft and Warcraft 2 are ALSO terrible by today's standards. Half the fun of playing those games was to tell your peonts to cut wood (or mine) on the other side of the map... and then amaze yourself with the horror of how the peons would go to and from the place they were gathering resources. Bonus points if your Peons would walk right through the enemy towns back and forth both ways--and somehow pull that off. Again... we've made some progression with games... and the issues Donkey Kong Country appear to fall down with are due to that large progression--but DKC itself was its own form of major progression forward.

Body Harvest! Or as I like to call it: *Grand Theft Metroid Harvest!* :D I've done a full HD retexture of the Java time period (map) and about 50% of the first time period Greece. I'd be willing to work on it more, but I really don't want to do the vehicles and character portraits. I'm better at the ground, buildings and special effect (alpha) textures. I have a custom version of PJ64 and a game/emu/save state that allows the game to be beatable with minimal issues (can walk up most ramps and cross all bridges, and no mission softlocks). Crazy Gamer I'd imagine there's several mods for it to have better graphics. They did it with Half Life 2: Update, which runs on the same engine. As long as it doesn't ruin the original games atmosphere then it should be fine.

Personally, I actually *really* love the Metroid Prime games with motion controls... and yes, I played them on Gamecube first. I just feel like it really meshes perfectly with the first-person atmospheric feel of the game, you're already looking through Samus' visor and aiming with the Wii remote in your right hand feels like you're really aiming your gun-arm "as" Samus. I'd be more than okay with them bringing that back for prime 4 with the joycon but making it optional would be smart I'm sure.

I appreciate Metroid Prime Trilogy I love that it's all on one disc, however I just can't get into the motion-control I don't care for it as much as I do the GameCube setup

KillThad I know emulation is taboo but since the original technically has an uncapped framerate if you run it in an emulator and set it right it'll run at full 60 fps. There actually was a plan for an Xbox Live Arcade remaster which would have been widescreen and 60 FPS but it got canned, cause Microsoft would rather have them make shitty Kinect games and unnecessary reboots (Killer instinct, sure it's a fun game but we don't need that shit lol)

The original N64 game was already widescreen, actually! It's kind of cool to see filling up a modern TV screen, even if it looks like soup! I never got it doing 60fps on an emu, although 1080p with mouse and keyboard controls was a neat experience to try. (You can also set up modern dual-stick controls, and they work quite well.) Apparently, the remake got canned because of legal reasons. Some say it's because Nintendo had a hand in developing the original, while others say it's because of the James Bond licence. If it really was the latter, you'd think it would be easier to get Rare to collaborate with Activision or whatever, rather than build an entirely new game, so I'm leaning toward the Nintendo explanation. Although copyright is such a mess to navigate, so who knows...

There are rumors of Sega working in Shenmue 1&2 HD, but sadly they are waiting for the release of Shenmue 3, which means it will never come out cause Shenmue 3 is vaporware.

Thank you for mentioning Gauntlet: Dark Legacy. That is far and beyond one of my all time favorite games and I sunk so many quarters into it in the arcade and even owned most of the home releases. It really bothers me to this day that they were never able to recapture the magic of this series, Seven Sorrows felt like a slog and the new one on PC/PS4 doesn't feel as good. I'd love to see a remaster of this game with enhanced net features added, or a brand new game in the series with the hectic, arcade feel.
