Whelp, that's it then. Gamesack has totally been spoiled for me now and forever and is officially THE worst show on all of KZbin. Even Annoying Orange and Fred in their heyday never reached this level of horribleness and humanity is, in fact, diminished by the lack of transition. Shame on you, but most of all, shame on us a species.

If you loved NiER, you're gonna LOVE NiER:Automata! It may be a different development team, but it's a co-development with the series creator, more action oriented, faster paced, and very heavy on the narrative. 2B fights better, climbs ladders faster, and is far more responsive than Nier.
@Ninjujitsu6 жыл бұрын
that's the worst part
@AndrewHaddow6 жыл бұрын
And make sure you get all the endings in Nier! Or else you really are NOT getting the experience. As in, not just you are missing a piece or two of the story, but like the actually point of the game is totally lost. And you should also check out the videos by KZbinr Mr. Clemps who does a breakdown of Nier and the Drakengard series. The events of Nier are actually an offshoot of one of the weirdest ending paths in Drakengard 1!
@MSUHitman6 жыл бұрын
So I would just go to Automata instead of grinding the original Nier. While both games have multiple endings, the original requires you to play through it in its entirety 3 or 4 times, whereas Automata doesn’t require full playthroughs to unlock all of its endings. Also later on you can buy the endings you’re missing in Automata in an in-game shop.
@iStricer6 жыл бұрын
MSUHitman While I would recommend NiER as a game, if you really really can't get into it there's always a wiki, or a very good series of videos by ValkyrieAurora that explain the whole plot of the Drakengard series, up to NiER:Automata. In the west we never got the PS3 version of NiER, Replicant, that explains the connection between NiER And Automata. Her videos cover it!

Love this episode and the others in its series. As game collectors we do tend to get into this weird habit of saying, "That-looks-cool-I-need-to-pick-it-up-and-give-it-a-try" and we bumble our way into a collection of games that is as un-played as it is large.

Ace Combat 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. It's one of a few games that I really had trouble putting down until I beat it way back when I rented it as a kid. Been a fan of arcadey flight games ever since. At the time it had practically everything going for it other than maybe the graphics. The soundtrack was killer, there was a wealth of missions and planes to fly, 2 different control schemes, and there were optional ace pilots flying around in some of the missions to collect and fill a screen full of their medals. Today it's probably nothing special but it was unique for its time.

"Dengeki Bunko Fighitng Climax" is a fighting game about characters from different Dengenki Bunko's Light Novel series. Dengeki Bunko is a japanese pulisher, and Light Novels are well, novels, very short (about 200 pages usually) with Manga-like illustrations here and there. So it's a fighting game about characters from popular japanese novels, not anime. Well, some of them had also and anime adaptation, but that's another story 🙂

Joe, a word of advice about Nier, it doesn't end when you reach the credits. Once the credits finish, it'll ask you to save your game, and once you load it you'll be treated to some of the game's biggest twists and revelations. This also applies to its sequel, which I highly recommend you check out once you finish the first.

Well, was really surprised to see "Monster in my Pocket" in this episode! It's not something a lot of people ever talk about, and usually you get the same reaction. I was a big fan of the toys and comics, so I was stoked when I first came across it in a rental story so many years ago. That nostalgia is the only reason I keep going back to play it, cause I totally agree of how simple it is. Especially for a Konami game! Okay, they did try and give that feeling of being ultra small running around in familiar places. They also try and pack as much as the monsters that the collectible card & toys tried to cover. all and all though, it's just a generic beat-'em-up. Something that would take maybe a few times to actually beat, but then you'll basically beat it every time after that. In the end I agree it isn't horrible, but you wouldn't find it in my top 20s list for NES! Maybe in the top 50 ... Anyways, thanks for the cool episode guys! Always a cool way to talk about random games. Like always, I can't wait to see the next episode ^_^

No I haven't and I am not planing to do so. I might be crazy, but I am not insane. I don't have enough time to play good games, so why should I bother playing bad games ? Otherwise I know what you mean. One of the good things about modern AAA games is: they may be generic and many are not good, but you know what you get in advance and none of them are so bad, that you can't get at least some hours of fun out of them. Many may not be good , but none or only very few of them are truly terrible.

I used to play games until I finished 100% of it, earned all trophies/achievements (if any), etc. Then I realized that each game was taking so much time that I was buying game on a higher rate then I could play them. Since then I started to care about just finishing them (without worrying about getting everything is possible) and it changed my gaming life. I have already experienced/finished more games in 2018 than 2 or 3 previous years combined. Thanks to that I was able to play and finish some games that were in my backlog for years like Shinobi 3, Shining in the Darkness, Gears of War, etc. There are still dozens of games that I never got to play on my collection but I plan on trying every one of them in the near future.
