I recently just got this controller and I'm loving it for Helldivers 2. I have gyro aiming enabled; and I have all four C buttons macro mapped to 4 different stratagems. One button press enters the entire combination. That is super handy, and I haven't encountered another controller this flexible. Love it.

Honestly the dpad is a hit or miss thing. In certain games you do not want easy diagonals, so I'm finding this controller a dream for Tetris. I also haven't really had a problem with it playing Metroidvania type games. I for sure can agree that it would not be my choice if I wanted to play some 2D fighters though. Excellent review as always.

Well from a historical point of view the best consoles all have diagonals that are consistent and easy to hit Snes genesis n64 gamecube wii wii u ps2 ps3 ps4 ps5 all of them don't have bad diagonals like these

@@VKsChannel Yeah, it definitely veers away from the traditional dpad feeling, so if someone is looking for one controller to rule them all this probably isn't the one because of the dpad compromise. For controller geek people like us though, it's cool to have options for certain games :)

Taking it apart and placing a small square of electrical tape under each direction (where a "cross" shape interacts with the membrane) has fixed the diagonals for me. Can roll the pad for fighting game diagonals, aim in Contra, and still get very accurate cardinal direction taps for Tetris. I'd advise any tinkerer comfortable with taking this apart to try this. Edit: and upon watching the video, will say I left all screws in tight - didn't take out the two VK did - and still does better than the video without the screws.

Thank you for the video. I'm using this gamepad around a month, not a bad thing. Agree with pros, but I see more cons than you: - Cheap vibration, feels like baby rattle. - LT and RT don't have vibration. - Membrane A,B,X,Y. - Yes, d-pad... - Software still not good, especially update thing. Please, pay attention to Beitong Kunpeng 40 and Beitong Kunpen 20. But Kunpeng 40 a more interesting model.

The cheap vibration is because its HD rumble On the switch it feels amazing On the membrane buttons I don't see how they could fit a mechanical switch there and keep the light under the buttons And the vibration on the triggers only official xbox controllers and flydigi controllers supports correctly

Great video! That isn't the claw grip though, that's a palm grip. Claw grip is when you use your index finger for face buttons/d-pad, with your middle operating bumpers/triggers. Still looks pretty great for either!

As I said in other comments, I'd be curious if you'd try placing a square piece of electrical tape under each direction on the dpad and report back how that feels. It drastically improved diagonal consistency for me, and I left all screws in and tight. This should also point to an easy v2 fix by Gamesir to just make the bottom of the dpad slightly thicker, or perhaps a drop-in 3D printed community mod.

Ok so I did cut off the little nubs that were preventing the diagonals and used silicone glue to fill the space behind the corners instead. I was getting favorable results for all diagonals except the top left being too sensitive, so I added extra glue to the bottom right corner (seems like you really need to fill the gap completely, don't worry about trying to replicate the nub.)

A beautifull controller but despite the tactile dpad, unfortunately the dpad has a major flaw that no one is addressing except you which is pretty significant. The dpad lacks the ability to hit two spots at the same time, for example down+forward, essentially this means that you wont be able to hit key moves in fighting games such as tekken, for example Kazuya EWGF is supper hard to perform its near impossible or Hwoarang Just-Frame Skyrocket is also near impossible. Its a design flaw that they overlooked despite the cool tactile feel to it. Its impossible to recommend this controller if your a Tekken player. I really appreciate your review for adressing key concerns, you deserve my subscription eternally !

13:58 vader 4 pro in 12 bit mode has 4096 steps from -1 to 1. This one seems to have 1024, 512 in each direction. I think you registered more because there's some vertical movement. At least this is how I understand stick resolution. I decided not to get this controller, all I really need is G7 HE but TMR, hopefully at a reasonable price.

At first it looked like a better alternative to my fav 8bitdo pro 2 but after all these reviews I'll probably cancel my order when it finally will arrive. Almost all the additional buttons are not really usable if you not going to learn claw grip which I'm surely not going to do. Dpad is a big NO for retro games. And software on pc is a mess. Shame. Maybe there will be tarantula 2 with better dpad and additional buttons that would be actually usable. But thanks for the videos as always :)

I don't understand the input modes you're talking about because I'm not educated enough, however I am a new owner of a FlyDigi Vader 4 Pro and I can vouch for the incredible quality. The dongle does have motion control and the best part for me is with the PC software you can map ANY button to either a standard controller button OR a PC key which is incredible! It has 4 back buttons and 2 extra face buttons and I use them on many PC games with controller support but that have extra keybindings for PC users. It does have a switch input mode, never used it but what people complain about is that you can only configure the controller on the PC app (and then it gets loaded into the controller memory but yeah you need a PC at some point)

Any of the inputs can be different buttons between different controllers. PlayStation still uses this for their controllers. XInput: Less inputs, but all the buttons are standard. Games can reliably bind buttons on their own making it the PC controller standard ever sense the 360 controller. SwitchInput: Nintendo's proprietary standard for switch. Not natively supported on PC without Steam translation layer or other software. SteamInput: The real black sheep of inputs. Only Steam's various controllers 1st and 2nd party controllers natively use that input.

Stock, no. Diagonals really are hard to hit. But, if you are willing to take apart - place a square of electrical tape under each direction. That has greatly improved diagonals for me and made it viable in Marvel vs Capcom, Contra, etc.

#idogaming3532 ok.,that's new. But it pales if I tell you that I got 2 EasySMX T39 Pro controllers with Hall effect sticks for 11.98€ each from Amazon. Nothing justfies this overpay of 80€. And cablewise, I've got a pretty gamer mouse with a recessed USB C port and of the 30+ USB C cables I have, not one fits, only the 20cm original. That's not stoopid, that's plainly insane.

@MangoPango1973 No. hall effect is good, yes, but it has a proven slower response time than even potentiometer sticks. if you want a controller that gets you to Burger King, anything will do. the tarantula pro has pro controller features that your mobapad doesn't, that's why it costs more. the rotating buttons just solve that annoyancr of your buttons not matching with the screen, especially when games invert them for you and you expect them not to be.

I'd be curious what the long-term reliability of that face button mechanism is going to be. Having the buttons push on a U-shaped plunger, on top of membranes that can be notorious for splitting, feels like there's substantially more points of potential failure. I personally don't need it, I can understand why some people would like it, and I think it's a neat idea if it doesn't fail prematurely. I also wish the mappable buttons had a better layout, for so much functionality this layout is absolutely horrendous with so many functions outside of usable reach during gameplay, way too much thumb movement on the C buttons and way too much finger stretch to get the shoulders; the C buttons also defeat the purpose of having mappable buttons, mappable buttons are intended to move inputs away from your thumbs so that your thumbs are on the sticks nearly permanently. I also find the choice to make it a PS-style symmetric stick controller a bit odd when it's mainly a Switch and Xbox/PC controller; I'm not sure how much of the viable market is actually asking for a symmetric layout on these platforms, clearly not enough for many companies to invest into it. The Dpad is also interesting, were they intending on the diagonal gate making the cardinal inputs more accurate and rolling inputs more consistent? Maybe a Gen 2 of this will improve on a lot of things.

Omfg NOBODY is going to buy a PRO CONTROLLER just to use CLAW GRIP bro. Just say that the buttons were placed in a terrible location because "perfect for claw grip" is NOT a feature for a controller and I 10,000% guarantee that Gamesir did NOT intend for this product to be used in a claw grip. The only reason people USED claw grip in the first place is to be able to press the buttons they need without letting go of the sticks. THAT'S what back paddles and top buttons on a *Pro Controller* are FOR: so you can access your buttons without taking your thumb off of the right stick and therefore NOT HAVE to do something arthritis-inducing like using a claw grip on a controller. The Razer Wolverine, for instance, has extra top buttons with ideal placement that you can still reach and actuate without issue while playing, and all without having to turn into a t-rex to use your controller!
