There are actually quite a few Star Wars slugthrowers. It's just that since Disney they are no longer canon. The only one that still exists in the current version of Star Wars is the Czerka Arms Adventurer Slugthrower Rifle. It was used by assassins and bounty hunters. As for the old canon? More than you can count. The Imperial Heavy Repeater is a good example. It's a heavy auto shotgun/grenade launcher. It used metal bolts for ammo. And as the name suggests it wasn't a one off, but an official weapon used by the Empire. Heck the Scatter gun from Battlefront (2004) was a slugthrower. It was a shotgun with the tube containing the ammo being on the left of the barrel. I mean that should still be canon, but these days who know.

Regular guns are called slug throwers in Star Wars. A fun fact is that in the canon they are considered obsolete and mostly a situational weapon. They were revived a bit during the Mandalorian Jedi war when the Mandalorians figured out that while Jedi Lightsabers could reflect and deflect blaster shots, a slug would simply go through the Lightsaber and melt into a shower of molten metal while maintaining it's trajectory making it a extremely useful weapon against Jedi.

I love this, I'm so used to video games going for either unique fantasy designs or (mostly) realism but the nature of star wars means that a lot of these guns are old movie props that were made by sticking parts on and otherwise modifying real-world weapons, so it's cool to see all the interesting quirks Jonathan points out like the bullet loading mechanism for that LMG which wouldn't make sense in-universe

Pointing out that the IQA-11 was first created for a CGI animated series (Clone Wars) before it was re-created in Battlefront 2, and noting that the animated series' 3D artist would not be required to precisely depict the exact design of the Arctic Warfare/L96A1's thumbhole stock while being inspired by it.. and then contrasting that with the other Star Wars weapons that have components which DO precisely mirror real life firearms because the physical props were built on those firearms.. that's an incredible observation, and a very interesting one. Jonathan Ferguson demonstrates sufficient familiarity with several different disciplines (including, of course, his expertise in his primary field) which lends a LOT of value to the quality of these videos. As many thumbs ups as I can find thumbs to raise.

Other people might take that opportunity to ridicule or call it silly that there are these pieces that serve no purpose or that they didn't add something on top of that. Cycler Rifle is actually one of the very few Slug Throwers in starwars Canon, there are a couple different ones. I can't exactly remember, but they are favored by assassination because blocking a big hunk of metal with a Light Saber, is not entirely a good idea.
