Yup, the rifle grenade. Can be used as a mortar too, very very low velocity but is a blast to use and surprisingly not all that clunky. Because of how it works, right after firing the grenade you can fire normal bullets without having to fiddle with the weapon, which I thought was really cool.

@@andrewhopkins886 I mean if you called a Hungarian AK variant fielded by the Hungarian military an AK47 it would be historically inaccurate too as the Hungarians had their own specific model of the AK that changed a few small parts to make it unique to the Hungarian military, you can essentially say that about every single unique AK variant used by countries outside of russia/ussr, unless the ussr/russia specifically gave these countries surplus russian made AKs for their military instead of giving them the manufacturing capability

@@Gameprojordan does it change anything about the gun from a movie or game/any media perspective? not really. Most of the time it's as simple as a bolt being in a different place, or a different iron sight. Now a 47 vs a 74 is very different, like a scar-l vs a scar-h but in general the countless local models of AK don't matter to most people since they often have little effect on how the gun functions. This wouldn't matter to me except I've noticed a running theme in AK nuts (The "gun memes" guy being one of them) that seem to go "um aqtually" when they see a bolt out of place during a movie.

Some interesting RS2 gun facts maybe Jonathan can look at in a part 2? - The M1917 double action revolver can be manually cocked to fire in single action giving you a speed and accuracy boost for the first shot. - Several weapons like the AKM, XM177 and M3 Grease gun have folding or telescoping stocks that function and provide a benefit/detriment for different situations. For example the XM177's stock retracted allows you to get way closer on the irons sights and faster, but it climbs more in full auto. - The M14 shows up in it's supressed XM21 configuration with the gas system disconnected because of the sub-sonic ammo and needs to have the bolt cycled manually. - The BAR is accurately depicted with having two rates of fire for auto you can toggle between. - Reloading the M14 with under 5 rounds fires actually has you use stripper clips to reload the magagazine instead of doing a mag change. - Holding R (but not releasing) causes your avatar to check the magazine round count, depicted as a colour graphic rather than an accurate number. - The seldom seen in games Owen, F1 L2A1 all show up on the Australian faction. - The ARVN forces are depicted using surplus WW2 US weapons (M1 Garand, BAR, M1918...). - Depending on the year in the multiplayer campaign, different weapons and configurations become available, IE US Army can't have 30 round STANAG managazines until the last few years.

I love that there is a good suppression mechanic in this game with a nice and accurate selection of firearms for a Vietnam war setting. The M79 shares the characteristic of the M1 Garand where a distinctive sound is produced by the weapons that is very recognizable like their visual profile. The ping for the Garand and the Bloop of the M79. I loved also the MAT-49 French submachine gun added as that is appropriate in the war. And the Vietcong took and used these off of the French. The Vietcong did like the MAT-49 because of provided automatic fire and it was lightweight which very suited their style of guerrilla warfare and for they are always on the move. So that was a charming aspect of it to the VC.

@@thor-ericsson FC2 was a deeply flawed game, but the level of verisimilitude it presented was unreal. It wasn't a "realistic" game, but all of the gunfights felt so visceral and dangerous because of how many details were crammed into the game. In many ways it was a VR game ahead of it's time. And that presents the best way I think for the style to return: as a VR experience. Imagine the gun walls of FC2, but in VR where you can physically gear up and prepare for combat. Then the intensity of a gunfight in VR where the trees are being blown apart and splintered by explosions and bullets, where a wild fire rages across the battlefield sweeping up anyone unlucky enough to be in its path.
