I still remember the christmas I got this game, it was so amazing, the box and the cover, the manual, the cool CD with art on it. Installing it and playing it for the first time with the awesome music and that great intro with narrator. Had only played Warcraft orcs & humans original at friends house. It was, best, christmas, ever.

I remember buying this back in the 90's. I had only just got a PC and had no idea what games were good or bad or if my pc met the minimum requirements so I just randomly chose WarCraft 2 as my first game, WOW was I lucky. Amazing game at the time.

Do a video on Warcraft 3. I think it's one of the most amazing phenomens in gaming history bringing rise to MOBA and TOWER DEFENCE through it's custom games. Also cover StarCraft custom games.

Besides the graphics and sound/music (and map creator) I was also very hooked to the game mainly because of the forest system... it was so interesting back in the day!

My first RTS and still my most favorite rts all time even I want blizzard remaster this game but some how I feel warcraft theme completely change after warcraft3 even they did remaster warcraft2 for real I still not sure if they can keep same atmosphere to the classic one.
@mike4181 Жыл бұрын
there are some warcraft 2 mods, you can move more than 9 soldiers, you can queue in the barracks, tels you when peasants are doing nothing, and so on.

This takes me back to 199. It was so simple but it was so good. I always felt that the graphics were drawn using felt crayons.

You may not know much about the game but you may be interested in knowing more: Even though it kickstarted battle.net, it did not benefit from having a real esport scene and was not released as efficiently in korea as starcraft. But there is still a community out there playing it at a competitive level even today in 2020 (en.war2.ru). Warcraft 2 has strategical elements that no other RTS has. Starting by the simple fact that units have no collisions but they rather occupy one single tile square of a big grid. Every single unit at your disposal occupies exactly one tile of that fat grid. Managing that grid or the "space" is where warcraft 2 finds all its beauty talking about war2 without understanding the grid is like talking about chess without talking about the board. Unlike later RTS in war2 you do not have rock paper cisor kind of gameplay you have one unit for each type of situation you may run into (each type of terrain situation, all is about space in warcraft 2 units do not matter as much as the space). Because of that you will see often every single unit type being used at a competitive level in a single game. This also means that at a competitive level, you also never see more than 9 units in a group because it is so easy to choke and limit the effectiveness of large armies. That big grid also is why you usually split your forces over different key areas. If you would want to learn more about the game feel free to have a look at my channel or war2combat 's channel or any pro warcraft 2 player's twitch channel. You probably will be surprised how interesting and well designed these old games really were when you take the time to know them well. :-) Thanks for not digging a grave to that wonderfull gem too soon! Just because Blizzard fired all the devs that worked on these products and the new guys have no clue about what really these games are all about, it does not mean there are no fans out there to keep these wonderfull games alive! Not only war2 is "charming" but it has really nothing to envy to these awesome new generation RTS because it just is something different and you can love both just as much...
@Trogallart4 жыл бұрын
I will add before I forget again: Thank you for covering that wonderfull game @GamingGHD and see no harm/judging in what I just said. It is not your fault that you do not know, sadly the new Blizzard started digging the grave for this game long before anyone else. I just wanted to bring you a different angle/perspective that sadly reviews often miss, we all were kids when these old games came out and most of us forgot or never knew or understood all about them. :-)

Hey GaminGHD, idk if you'll reply to this, but on the note of RTS games; did you ever play "Ground Control" or "Earth 2150"? I'm aware how different the two are, but I remember having both on the same demodisk (along with Half Life Opposing Force and a trailer for Ultima Online 2) and was wondering if you ever got to fiddle with them, both were good and brought something new to the table, but neither were 'starcraft' levels of good/popular.

omg the peon thing you saw I SAW THE SAME THING and it was more or less not till watching this that I see how it should be seen... omg wtf this just blew my mind. I should of looked at it a bit more when I was a kid then maybe I could of seen it. I never played WC3 or really any other WC game but I did play WC2 back in the mid 90s and ended up replaying WC2 not long ago just to see if it was as good as I can remember.

Hi WC2 fans! Nice work GaminGHD! Maybe I`m crazy but wacraft 2 is my favourite game all time..I`m not the biggest pcgame geek, but this game I love more than starcraft... Maybe because I`m a little oldschool.. The gameplay, voices, Graphic, music, installation voices etc... wish they could do a remake., working on 64 bit with some few new functions.. But can someone tell me, why wc2 isn`t a "real" RTS game? :)

It would be nice if they remaster it with the same art style.. like making a good AI for it so you dont have to micro manage it (or at least add a pause button so you can give orders to the units) and adding more factions and upgrades, and team creation for miscellaneous maps (basically, polish it). leave the graphics and music as they are, i would be pretty happy with that
