Been a minute but thanks for sticking by and hope you enjoy the video. It's something that's been on my mind for a while now and I know I'm not the only one.

0:57 THIS IS SO TRUE! I make content on the Sims 4 and oh my fucking god EA makes me wanna shit in my hands and clap. Bugs galore. Edit; Also, the massive size of games often now isn't because of graphics- its just un-optimisation. It's like it doesn't exist anymore for AAA games, they ABSOLUTELY could be smaller but its less profitable to optimise games to reduce size and bugs than it is to just let them release.

2:12 Honestly u can't even bash on 343 much for this bc not only would it be a difficult task to mash multiple games into 1 singular title without having a myriad of bugs, but the original Bungie Halo trilogy games had their code held together by duct tape and sweat.

Have you guys heard ' Ragnarok Online ' ? Back then, this game has its own economy and their bi-weekly Guild Wars are insanely fun.

I just stopped caring about expensive, AAA titles. One of the huge reasons, that hasn't been touched upon by you, is the death of Co-Op in AAA games, because it simply doesn't make them enough money. So fuck that, I play Squad and Battlebits (that's another topic for itself) for my FPS itch, and then mostly RoR, DRG and other Indie games that provide coop to play with my lads. Gaming isn't dead, big corpos are dying, hopefuly. It's also the same with film industry, major corps just shit out garbage nobody likes.

Who else expected this video to be about trying to explore the "wrong" path first in single player games in order to explore?

you’d have to be subhuman levels of stupid to think that from the title.

While it is true that games ought to be properly bug tested before launch, I don’t think this is new. Battlefield 4 famously had a terrible launch, but grew into a series favorite, arguably the peak of the series. Frankly, if you buy a game on day one, or worse, pre-order, you’re an idiot (or just have tons of disposable income). I always wait a year or two after launch by which point any all bugs/balancing has been fixed, all DLC is out, and you can buy the complete package on sale for $10-20 or even less, as opposed to paying $60-70 for a broken, buggy mess that has half the content, and you have to pay another $60 to get the full game at some later date.

i agree with this vision, gaming is playing between a fine line. one is pure conssumerism withtout any creativ decisions, the other is the 10th art, video game, the one that make you feel AND interact throught the lens of many and varied creativ spirit. however, i somehow disagree with you on early acess, as you said, as much it did good, it also created a path of "bad" developing in purchase of money (sometime) or pure passion. Nowaday early acess has an another meaning Imo. wich mean you're literaly buying a unfinished movie, painting, or whatever media. YOU as a buyer, know it isn't complete yet (and it's suposed to be one day, wich is where justice and real bad shit happen, seek cube world and many other scandal), you're paying (most of the time) 50% of the game at the moment. But, you know you aren't going to get the full game, and the full optimized game yet. We can blame the developpers and their potential way of bad developing. But we as conssumer must overlook the face of video game today to truly know if we can get intimate with it, so my best advice is to check twice at least for an early acess. Otherwise you know what you signed for.

Gaming has not gone in the wrong direction because there was no wrong direction about it gaming like most forms of entertainment is a art form where some might desire it others might not just as you present art that is appealing to some who would rate it high presenting art to say someone who has zero investment or attachment will result in a low rating. Its more to do with the landscape of how gaming has become and that is more due to peoples tolerant to what they will accept and not and well people have become far more accepting of things nowadays then compare to years ago that making one mess up could cost you your business compare to today where you could simply just patch it out and even if it is buggy people will still play it with the mentality it will get patched out. Basically people nowadays will accept literal trash and this tells developers that its okay because people will tolerate it.

Very fair points there, especially the final one. Sometimes I really don't understand why people must defend this billion dollar corporations as much as they do 🤷‍♂

"Pre-orders have always been a thing. Don't blame us." Oh you, sweet summer child. Pre-orders used to be rooted in reality. You had a physical product (cartridges, boxes, manuals) for which pre-orders would give the company a heads up about how much product they needed to prepare. Digital pre-orders are a wholly different beast. Yes, as a consumer, letting businesses take advantage of you and never learning to take responsibility for the consequences of your actions is your fault. "Vote with your wallet" is about the only truth left in this mega-corp hellscape we're living in. Anything you give your money to tells the money grubbers where they need to push you harder next time. Otherwise, it just sounds like you want this to be treated as if they're drug dealers and we're the addicts and only the inept government can come save us. Maybe that is what it is for some people, but.... It just doesn't ever sit right with me when people don't take responsibility for their own choices.

Here's the problem as simply as possible. You are no longer a customer you are a consumer. That's the attitude that needs to die
