@fricki1997 I think making a controller mandatory for portable gaming experiences that arent compromised by a touch screen only is good Idea. You can spend less than even 50-60$ on a decent controller for your phone. And of course youre gonna at least need snapdragon 865 or their 8 gen series to get decent perfomance Proton isn't magic. But it can be done, and Apple users will figure out how to cope about the Iphone being better without this feature.

I like the gaming phones larger capacity battery, better cooling for longer gaming sessions and having features like faster charging than the mainstream smartphones as well as having the headphone jack for zero latency gaming without relying on using e-waste like bluetooth headphones with batteries that are not user replaceable when the batteries have already degraded on bluetooth audio devices. There are wired headphones with user replaceable cables with built in microphones with quality that sounds superior to the there bluetooth counterparts with no compression like there is with bluetooth and even balanced cables with audiophile headphones and hifi dacs and amps to improve the audio experience.

So thinking about my gaming phone (a red magic 6 pro) this would be my personal perspective of why they're great...the aesthetics/design is awesome imo. The metal, RGB lights on the back the glass and metal design ect. Stands out. I personally don't like having the same thing as everybody else. If you pull out any iPhone pro model or any Galaxy ultra model from the last 3 years, you immediately know what it is. With this one. You have no idea what it is and it's a fun and cool conversation to have. The fast charging definitely spoils me. All the other phones feel slow in comparison to the 67 w charging speed. Although there's no waterproofing, this allows for internal fan cooling that works perfect for my needs as well as very loud speakers that can be enjoyed in and outside of gaming. Also, having a headphone jack is a great feature for the system I have in my car since it offers the best audio quality. The one thing I will concede is it's ridiculous that a phone with 16 gigs of RAM is stuck on Android 12. However, on that same note with 16 gigs of RAM, there's absolutely no slowdowns performance issues or anything. So with that said, I can't really complain about not having the newest version other than on principal. It doesn't affect my day-to-day, but a Galaxy a54 shouldn't have longer, better software support than this phone

Use to have every single new version iPhone and then later on switched to a gaming android phone being rog phone 6 and then fell in love with it ever since with me then also buying the 7th and 8th generations respectively. After all that time I decided to then switch to the Red magic series with myself starting with the newest model at the moment being the Red magic 10 pro. I tend to play most of my games on 120-140fps and graphics always on high graphics this of course means the phone got decently hot unless I used the rog cooler when I had the rog phone series. i’ve always wanted a gaming phone yet i don’t wanna speed so much for gaming phones when they all have crappy software as in 1 or 2 major updates for a device ranging from 800-1200$ with a camera that can’t compete with samsung galaxy s24 or iphone 16 lineups. plus asus has big batteries in them but they tend to drain relatively fast for such a large capacity, likely just adding high capacity to make up for lack of optimization (and i love Asus)

The only thing a gaming phone has the right to exist is because of Red magic series, Flat design (front and back), Headphone Jack, Giant battery, additional buttons and built in FAN. The only flaw is the cameras but the real thing holding it back is the software updates. Dunno about Asus aside from having an additional type C (I love that.) but the gimmicks doesn't justifies the price, it's trying to be everything at the cost of price while having the downside of lower software updates. If Red Magic copies Asus having a "gaming" phone no longer mean anything.

Android gaming stinks & I certainly find the idea of gaming with the actual phone that I do everything else with to be inconvenient. But you can get some pretty heavy mileage out of cloud streaming either via game pass or gforce now or stream link & you don’t need the greatest internet connection on god’s green earth in 2024, tbh. It all comes down to the quality of that display tbh. Gforce now allows you to stream higher resolutions & refresh rates & use HDR if you are using a device that supports such things. So if you had a 1600p or higher device with an OLED display and 120 hertz refresh rate you are gonna be cooking. Whether it’s technically an android phone or a stand alone unit with the controller built in doesn’t really matter. The Razor’s Edge although not new is an android device with a telescopic controller that fits all of these criteria. I would not buy a heavy duty spec ladened android phone with 24 gigs of RAM or some dumb crap just to run Call of Duty Mobile. lool. You’re doing it all wrong.
