Spotify does not pay artists, nor do any music streaming services. Their primary beneficiaries are record studios. If artists are not receiving compensation, it is the record companies’ responsibility, not Spotify’s. Blame the record company. If its a solo artist or independent.. Then they agreed to the price. Furthermore, Spotify has significantly more subscribers than any other streaming service, which is why it pays slightly less per track. With 650 million subscribers compared to Apple Music’s 95 million...Despite lower payout per track, Spotify generates more revenue. This is because Spotify has a 6 times larger pool of listeners, which allows it to pay out less per track. While Apple Music offers superior audio quality, its music recommendation system is inadequate. Spotify, on the other hand, provides better recommendations and has Spotify Connect. I am unable to comprehend why Apple doesn't have the equivalent for Apple devices, as it could be used like Spotify Connect or Tidal Connect. Currently, I am using Apple Music for lossless audio, but I will switch back to Spotify as soon as high-definition streaming becomes free. Spotify’s user interface is superior, and its recommendations are more relevant to a wider audience. Apple Music recommendations are straight trash. It thinks everything is teen pop music.

I use Spotify for many years now and I have the say, discovery has gotten worse with time. At least for me, artists can pay their way “into” your playlists and recommendations. Spotify is still better than all the other platforms (at least for me) but it could be better and it’s not from lack of feedback from users

Funnily enough, I’m actually thinking about moving away from Spotify to Apple Music. It mostly just comes down to the price of the Family plans of each service (Apple Music’s Family plan is noticeably cheaper in Canada compared to Spotify now) & features (we don’t really use the extra bloat like Podcasts & Audiobooks whereas I at the very least would make use of Atmos & Lossless audio). Even the discovery aspect isn’t that important to me as I mostly just listen to the same rotation of songs.

There is no "Conversion". It just sees if the song are available on your playlist your moving over. If they are not on the new streaming service it just don't transfer.

I use Apple Music because their discovery is focused on albums rather than playlists , that being said , they curated music pages are really good , I visit Electronic one a lot , and noticed that depending on what you listen is different for each person , I listen a lot of left-field house and techno , other friend EDM , I get new Aphex Twin , Floating Points , Burial new releases in there , while my fiend get other totally different recommendations . I use the iCloud integration a lot , have a lot of albums not available on streaming , suddenly my uploaded album becomes available in all my devices for streaming .

I did this. I'd STILL do this if it wasn't for Apple randomly "Region locking" my OWN music. Then the fix sometimes was to delete it all and retransfer it again. All because the Apple Music app wants to punish users for using local music. Pushing them into their dumb subscription. No Apple I'm not rewarding that BS behaviour. So now I use Plexapp instead. Works like a streaming thing. Also downloads and plays my own music locally. Pretty good tbh. Still wish Apple's crap music app didn't betray me and worked as intended. Seriously makes me want an Android that just plays my own darn music and not need weird workarounds. Suck it Apple.

Spotify does a great job with niche content discovery IMO. If I’m looking for a specific sound, it usually shows me a mix of artists from big names to ones with as few as 10 monthly listeners. That’s what keeps me using it, the discovery aspect. KZbin Music tends to stick to popular artists in my experience, whether it’s official or unofficial releases. I usually have to dig deeper to find hidden gems there, but with Spotify, it’s just a few clicks, and I’ve found a new artist. I feel like I have what i want and need with Spotify so i don't personally have a reason to try apple music.

The only thing that drives me insane is when I am listening to music in my liked playlist it auto refreshes to the top of the playlist about 30 seconds into the song, so if I wanna switch songs that are near that one on the playlist, I have to scroll all the way back down through the playlist every single time I want to pick a song rather than it just staying at the position I was already at

I use both Spotify & Apple Music equally. I love Spotify for their fluid connectivity when i’m arround the house or at a friend’s house, simply pull up the app and I can join/start a jam and I can easily control what’s being played which ever device it’s playing from - something Apple Music severely lacks at current despite having Air Play. Apple Music I use when i’m travelling or at the office and listening through headphones/Airpods - the sound quality with lossless audio and dolby atmos is incredible, it helps that i’m very fluid with what I listen to so I find switching between services very easy even with different genres being played

I use Apple music (AM) , because it is easier. When you ask Siri on your watch to shazam something, you can add it to library in your AM, when you tell your watch, drunk, what to play, it plays in AM and so on. If it was this easily implemented for Spotify, I would consider it, but I am lazy to configure anything. When this works "out of the box" I will use it.

Im pretty sure the Shazam thing is on Spotify too. I don't use any apple product other than Shazam, so i don't know if the Apple watch would work, but i use my phone to identify a song and it adds it to a playlist on my Spotify. Its just one or two clicks to sync your Spotify account to Shazam.

Apple Music has much better buffering. If you're sitting on a train and lose connection for a few minutes, Spotify will stop playback very quickly. Never had those issues with Apple Music, though.

Spotify will rest on their laurels because they know for most people without iPhones Spotify is the "default" way of listening to music. A majority of people with iPhones will also continue to use Spotify for things like casting (despite Apple Music having similar features) and wrapped. Furthermore, It's the easiest platform to make and share music playlists making it more social and it has social features (see what other's are listening too) built in. KZbin Music is a real competitor but a lot of people won't switch despite the pricing being better (no KZbin ads without having to use extensions, download any KZbin video etc) because people don't have faith in Google. Google changes it's products too often and doesn't have a coherent strategy. Deezer is interesting - I think the challenge with Deezer is that it doesn't have the largest library.

I both love and hate Spotify. The connect features and social stuff is great but I gotta be honest the recommendations have been pretty crap for me. The curated playlists just don’t do it for me and I feel like it digs too much into ‘reinforcement theory’ rather than challenging music listening. I think Spotify is the best with all the integrations. Though sound quality I find it to be inferior compared to Apple Music and KZbin Music. Apple music if you're highly integrated within Apple Ecosystem. I mean the moment use anything not Apple, you might face the problem that it might not work. Sound and music quality is excellent. KZbin Premium is my personal favorite thanks to being able to integrate KZbin itself. Otherwise, I'd pick Spotify. I'll stop using KZbin Music the moment Google announces a $3.99 ad-free youtube.
