@Rottieuk

@@VincentAmadeus I tried replying before, but it got deleted. Anyways, in answer to your question, yes you should be able to run games at 1440P. However, it will largely depend on the game you are playing, as to whether you will be able to run at medium, high or ultra settings. I have a 27" curved monitor that runs natively 1440P @ 144Hz. One last thing I would advise, if your monitor has a DP (Display Port) input, then use a high quality DP to DP cable to connect to the RX 6750 XT, instead of HDMI.

I have a r7 5700x3d and a Rx 6700 xt and it uses about 250w for the whole system when "stressed normally". And even when the GPU and CPU is at full load for both it only goes up to 360w max. It's a really efficient setup. And don't forget about the 12gb of vram. The CPU uses 80w max and GPU about 180w max. I have a really good undervolt on the GPU/CPU. It was a pain to get it right but when you do. Man it's efficient. And I also got the idle power draw to drop from 80-90w to just over 50w just impressive. And the CPU doesn't go above 60 degrees

@@GameBMC1 You're lucky. I have an RX 6750 XT and it runs like crap. Regular frame dips/stutters, freezes for like half a sec every so often. It's made even more annoying by the fact that it runs pretty smooth overall, so getting those random short freezes like every 30 sec in a fast paced game is really frustrating and ruins the whole experience. Tried a ton of "fixes" but can't find any way to fix it. Haven't given up on it yet, though, and it's luckily not my main GPU, so there's that at least.

I have learned to enjoy my games on pc by locking the frame rate to 60, 90 or 120 fps depending on the game. Doing this creates a stable and consistent frame rate. Also, it can reduce power usage and reduce heat. For competitive games, I can simply disable the frame cap

Thing was only $599(650 with the 16gb stick of ram) and it plays everything you can imagine at playable framerates. You arent gonna get the best visuals, but it will get around 60 fps with choice settings. Id recommend this thing if its still available, its a perfect starting machine or if you just need a laptop. Im using it as my school machine, and it does more than what I need it to. Main rig crushes it with a 7800x 3d and a 4070 super lol, but its not that bad when I use it from time to time.

@@Loundsify Not sure why the big increase but as @monotheisticmortal5122 said, it's probably due to more overhead in Windows. Linux does come with it's own drivers for AMD video cards and when Nvidia starts providing Linux with non-proprietary drivers that come with the distro then that might be a whole different ball game. The only way to be sure would be to test both Windows and Linux with the same parts, I am sure that a RX6600 GPU is not 30% better than an RTX 4060. One other point, not sure if this video was done with ray tracing on or off as the AMD card doesn't do well with ray tracing and would tank severely.

BG3 is not potentially "bothering" because it requires a smooth experience like a First Person Shooter (as you say, it doesn't), but because it's simply an indicator for games more generally which are very CPU-intensive, especially future ones. And especially in combination with a GPU that's more powerful than this one. If it dips to 77% or so with a not very powerful card (even for a moment), this can be seen as a bother. But then Larian just makes the most CPU intensive games in the world... (As silly as it may be.) I'm guessing another open world game, e.g. GTA6, might be an alternative that reproduces it, but this time also with much higher GPU demand.

3 1/2 years ago, I built one of the best systems that I could at the time during the big tech shortage. I9 10850k (only the 10900k was above it, but I didn't want to spend so much extra money on a cpu to get 1-3% more performance), 3070 (there was a shortage of 3080s and 90s, so I would've had to wait indefinitely for one), 32gb ddr4-3200, 1tb ssd, 2tb hdd, and a 700w psu. Fast forward to today, and I have since added a 2tb ssd for games to keep my 1tb ssd for booting. I swapped the case to a Corsair 5000d airflow, upgraded cooling to a 240mm capellix aio, upgraded from ddr4-3200 to 3600, added better case fans, and swapped the 3070 for a 6750xt (8gb wasn't getting it done anymore, so I got a card with more vram (12gb) that performs similar to the 3070 without breaking the bank. I paid $350 for the 6750xt on sale). Since I don't have an issue with rocking last gen parts with am4, I'm thinking about saving for a decent am4 motherboard with the 5700x3d since I don't have the money anymore to spend on a super high end system.

I spent last couple days salvaging a dying 1tb HDD, it was quite a journey as I had to chkdsk fix the HDD then copy the media files to the new SSHD and because the old drive was dying it took many clicks on retry to get nearly a terabyte's worth of video and DaVinci Resolve assets into its new home. The new drive is a 4tb which goes nicely with my other 1tb HDD and my 1tb M2 SSD having now six terabytes of storage and because the failing drive wasn't dragging the Window's stack down anymore the machine has perked up nicely. I am now looking for a B5xx motherboard next upgrade and to fit my now fixed modified AIO, I picked up two MSI Coreliquid kits, one the triple fan 360 the other the twin fan 240. All I have done is take the fans and rad from the twin fan and run it into the loop, my case is the monstrous sized Cooler Master HAF-XM, the triple fan rad will sit at the top and the twin rad sit on the rear panel, I need to get an updated motherboard as my A320 Asrock doesn't have RGB plugs and the MSI kits require the RGB stuff to power the lights and fans. I did toy with using the twin fan rad as an AIO for my RX580SP but it barely raises an eyebrow let alone a pulse when I am gaming. Oh I swapped out the thermal paste on the CPU and put in a squidge of that HP phase changing thermal material and my rig lost 5 degrees across the board, works VERY well indeed :D
