Grand Theft Auto 5 Next-Gen Review - The Final Verdict

Of course, what we circle back to is the fact that the next mainline GTA game is still probably at least a couple of years ago, and GTA 5 still clearly has more than enough life left in it to keep Rockstar flush with cash until its sequel is ready to release.
Until then, if you've somehow never played GTA 5 before or are willing to spend money to play it again, its new-gen version is certainly the best way to do that. If, however, you already have the game on previous-gen consoles, or especially on a PC, my advice would be to save your money.

Well if nothing else, I'm at least glad Rockstar stated that development on GTA6 was "well under way" supposedly. I imagine they got next gen dev kits pretty early on, and I'm excited to see what lessons Rockstar carries over from rendering in RDR2, especially given that GTA6 will have been built from the ground up as a PS5/Series X title

In my opinion, this was worth the £8.75 that I paid for it. 60 FPS on either of the performance modes definitely makes a noticeable difference over last gen, and the load times are incredible for GTA V. The new content for GTA Online is decent, though not life-changing. I feel like the Dualsense controller's haptic feedback and adaptive Triggers are nice additions, though not worth too much money. Overall, I'd recommend it, but only if you care about graphics.

the $20 price tag for an upgrade to a near 10 year old game that lives on microtransactions is just pure greed. they still haven't even improved to movement controls to something less clunky and cumbersome. the fact that they still can't get RT, 4K, and 60fps all at the same time like some newer games that offer their upgrades for free just makes me further say fuck this.

One knock about this remaster is I like to play on-foot in first person view but I also like to see my character in third-person when taking cover like in the Rainbow Six Vegas games. They had that feature in the last gen PS4 version but they removed it for some reason from this new version.

I was hopeful about the upgrade. Figured it would get me to finish the story at least. Regardless of the years of “work” on the base game, and whatever time spent on the upgrade, they have completely neglected the most base things about gaming. So many bugs, exploits and in-balances . The entire premise of the game is to grow your bank, yet the games economy is COMPLETELY unbalanced to a breaking point. Since when did we start accepting this? This. I have it on ps3/4. I stopped playing years ago, but I finally got a ps5 from Sony direct after 1.4 years of trying, and don't have any ps5 games outside of ps4 upgrades and cross Gen games. This really does look and play great. The rumble and resistance on the triggers is amazing. You feel every bump, triggers for guns feel different, a shotgun feels different from a pistol to a AR, etc.. It's amazing along with the 60fps /ray tracing and 3d audio. For $9 I said why not and glad I did. I have downloaded the pc version and play on a 3060ti which is the same strength as a ps5, but I think it plays better on a TV and with the new controller. No clue what Xbox has but it doesn't have the cool controls and haptic rumble.

Imo i played it on ps3, loved it, but im not gonna replay it just cause graphics.I have a pc that could do this with ray tracing at well above 60fps in 4k (not bragging, its an old game and not hard to do on pc), still not gonna replay it. WItcher 3 has only gotten the switch port, which is a remarkable achievement, and broadens the amount of people who can play it , albeit at lower quality visuals obvi. Its not like this version of gta 5 is gonna blow anyone away, much less sell a shit ton. But its there for die hard fans who dont own a PC or for those that never got around to playing it on ps3/4 or xbox whatever version since release. If anything its just a meme for the games (gta5/skyrim, both of which get "hate" , or atleast eyerolls, upon each subsequent re-re-re-"release") and how companies keep milking them with every console release hah.
