Something that really frustrates me about this new capture card is that is still doesn’t allow your Xbox or PlayStation to play at 144 hz, you can only do it on PC, but cards like Avermedia will allow you to record at a certain FPS and still passthrough so you can play at 144hz

I stream at 1080 60, but with hd60s and I always wanted to stream with better quality... Does the 4k mk2 have better colors or something that at my quality stream will improve? I think the card is a great option. While 4k streaming is not really "the thing" yet, the features this card brings to the table makes it a good buy. Multi-app support is a really interesting idea, so you can have OBS streaming your game/webcam/overlays/etc and then perhaps another instance of OBS or Elgato's own software just recording the raw footage to be used in a video later. The price is right on point as well.

I'm so damn happy you made this video, for so long now I've been using a 1080p 60fps capture card that bottlenecks me when i play since I cant use my 1440p, 144hz monitor to it's fullest, I kept having to downgrade my resolution or fps just to stream and it's been a huge disappointment since I wanted to use my monitor to it's potential. I instantly pre ordered this after watching, its out of stock atm but this is EXACTLY what I wanted and it's at a price that works for me too! Keep it up man these videos really help!

Not to sound pedantic (ok maybe, sorry) but HDR is not about "truer" blacks or whites (which is only marketingspeak), it's about more *dynamic range* ie. more steps between pure black and pure white. So instead of having maybe 8 or 10 steps, you have 12 or 14 steps (depending on camera), which in turn often means more details in darker/lighter areas. You are welcome 😅

@@fvysal8930 Just spotted this message here, currently I see a big difference when using a capture card and re-routing the PC "Through itself" and using that capture feed. I was originally using the HD60 to stream xbox content, then I purchased a pc which had the Ryzen 2700x, 32GB 2666 ram and I was seeing quite a few issues with loss of frames on either the streaming software or render lag whilst the stream was going. Recently I ran some tests on my channel after buying the items listed below to try and see if I could get a better quality from single PC setup but I was still having render lag issues, not to mention I had to constantly dumb down all my settings to let my system run. (All tests ran on x264, 6kbit, fast preset, keyf-1). A few days ago I re-routed my GPU through the HD60 and although my monitor and the subsequent gaming experience has been locked to 60fps/hz, I can stream without renderlag or ultimately any issue whatsoever. I had all settings on Modern Warfare max, render distance at 100 and my stream (1080p60fps) was perfect. Again this was tested on the HD60, I'm literally due to receive the 4k60 m2 pro any moment from Amazon so hopefully I can come back with some answers. Only for the reasons of gaining information, I will post my channel link, the most recent VOD was re-routed through the HD60. I first ran a Hardware benchmark scoring 5k on the first run and 4.5k on the second with AA on x2. Then I play a game of COD then a game of Tarkov. So I've got the 4K60 installed... I originally had a 165hz monitor but it's now capped at 144. For some reason, I can only set the card to capture the source at 1440/100 rather than 1440/144 but my monitor is set to 144 and the card has been set to mirror.

I guess the main question would be if it's benifitial.. It removed my render lag for the HD60 and ultimately the 4K60, although I never tried standard OBS, I'm a SLobs native.

Conclusion. If you have money to burn, single pc would benefit from this setup. The issue I've seen now is due to the capture card needing a third feed for the capture card (one feed 165hz, other 60hz), the GPU is under strain. I'm sitting around 80fps playing modern warfare, which isn't where it needs to be! If you have my spec + a 2080ti then this should be a cake walk.

I'm confused now. All I want to do is be able to input a live 4K stream from my GH4 camera into OBS Studio. So do I really need a 4K60 Pro? Or would the 4K Camlink be good enough? Or do I *still* need the camlink as well as the 4K 60 Pro to input from GH4?? I saw video of someone using the camlink as input and there was a horrible 0.5 second lag in the video.

Few months ago used to stream with 4500 bitrate. Worked perfectly, no dropped frames. Now cant even go above 2500 bitrate. No changes in internet speed or computer specs

Does this support FreeSync as well from the xbox? Currently using window capture and the windows 10 xbox app so I can still game with 1440p and freesync enabled. Stream qaulity suffers a bit as the app is not the best.

Is this worth getting if I already use NDI plugin for high refresh rates with a 240hz monitor? I have dual pc’s set up & I used to use a hd60 s but it only caps at 60hz with terrible input lag.

If you aren’t suffering from any problems with NDI then I would say keep using that! Some people suffer with synchronising issues on NDI and have better experiences with a capture card. This one definitely lets you do 1080p 240Hz

I normally very much enjoy your videos. This one felt more like an advert than a first look. Maybe I am just having an off day and I am overly grumpy. We have 2 Elgato cards and 2 Avermedia cards. The Avermedia 4K/60/HDR cards had HDR a year ago and they only cost me $280. I will probably pick up one of these new Elgato cards and give it a spin. I am lucky that my career means I don’t have to worry about the cost of consumer grade technology. I would love to see you do some videos on pro-Sumer and professional level cards, maybe 4 x 4K/60 on a single card or something with real time 4K HDR encoding from uncompressed camera files. My experience with recording HDR is the Avermedia recording software feels very rough compared to OBS and other recording software. I haven’t tried Elgatos HDR recording software; maybe it will be awesome. I would have liked it if you had mentioned other cards that were on the market; what their costs are the benefits of choosing Elgato. We will still be fans and I am sure we will continue to enjoy your videos.

Sorry for my bad English. I have an unusual problem with 4K60 Pro MK.2 but ONLY in OBS. When i recording or streaming video in any resolution of video I have stuttering video but not all the time. It repeats itself from time to time even on preview window. Of corse 0 dropped frames in OBS, run as admin etc. The resolution does not matter. 1080p behaves the same as 4k recording 0 dropped frames but stuttering from time to time. Problem is gone with 4k Elgato Capture Utility. In prewiev window Elgato capture util. i have some stuttering from time to time but on recording video is all OK. I update firmware to newest and i have elgato and graphics cards newest drivers. I did the test: on gamming PC i recording in OBS 1080p60 with NVENC and on streming PC too with 1080p60 OBS. On gamming PC video file is superb but on streaming PC video file has stuttering from time to time. Strange. What's wrong. Can you help? I think I will return Elgato. The same problems with him. :-(

Thanks for the video, really appriciate your time you invest giving us advise and testing hardware that help streaming. Since you got it so fast, im guessing Corsair send it to you and you are in contact with them, maybe you could advise them to consider a Displayport version, i would pay double of what this one cost if they were to make one, i know its not as attractive as HDMI given that cameras, consoles and even PC via cloning a signal to HDMI will work, there are circumstances that a Displayport would be ideal, specially since the PC/GPU market has pushed Displayport as their standard. For example i run a SIM Racing rig with a triple screen (2560x1440@144hz) surround setup, and would love to have a Display port capture card that has a passthrough that can pass the gsync signal to capture the center monitor, this is because the triple monitor nvidia surround cant be cloned once its applied, so would be ideal to have the center monitor dp go to a secondary streaming/recording pc, and go back to the center monitor of the triple screen, while still sustaining the passthough of 144hz and gsync signal.

USB does not have enough bandwidth to transfer that much data. 4k30 is the limit right now. This may change with USB4.

Del UK You’re correct. The 4K60 is PCIe x4 whereas the HD60 is PCIe x1. The video is either wrong or misleading around 1:18. He might have meant ‘single slot’ meaning it only takes up one PCIe lane, but if he meant the connector was x1 then he was wrong. PCIe x1 will fit in any PCIe slot (x1, x4, x8, x16). PCIe x4 will not fit in a x1 slot, but it will fit any slot x4 and up.
