Bullestorm is one of those games that I happen to have owned and enjoyed IMMENSELY, yet despite all it's creativity in the game mechanics and overall goofy, Sci-Fi pulp adventure tone, never got the respect it truly deserved, but nonetheless, an hidden gem. Great review!!

There is a doom 2 mod out there which implements ALL the bulletstorm weapons WITH all the functions. .it's amazing

I think the worst parts about this game are the mechanics taken from military shooters that were popular around that time: Slow character, no jumping, only being able to carry 2 weapons at a time, low amounts of ammo for certain guns in the field, over-tutorializing, and the worst: regenerating health. The words "health low, get to cover" should never appear on screen in a fast paced arcadey FPS. Maybe tie health regeneration to skillshots or something.

Which is even more hilarious when you think about how they made fun of modern shooters and talked about how bulletstorm will be old school.
@agbrenv4 жыл бұрын
the character isn't really slow, plus it's a 3 weapon limit and once you completed the game, any time you want to replay it, you can carry all weapons in new game + mode, plus the ammo can always be resupplied with the upgrade pods or whatever they are lack of jumping is frustrating, and playing on higher difficulty prevents you from playing in a fun and creative way, it's one of the few games where playing on the lowest difficulty is advised so you can cause all type of mayhem, since the combat is very fun, the regen health could have been replaced with HP for skillshots like you said, which may also reduce the issue with higher difficulty

I've always said you can see and feel Epic's involvement in the development of Bulletstorm, given how amazing the game looks and how well it performs. One of the best looking games on Unreal Engine 3. Too bad we didn't really get that many AAA Unreal Engine 3 games within 2012-2014, to truly leverage the engine. Arkham Knight is easily the highlight of what Unreal Engine 3 could do, with time and budget, given current-gen hardware. Bioshock Infinite, Spec Ops: The Line, DmC 2013, Gears of War: Judgment and Arkham Origins are the obvious highlights. Thief 2014, for being a late-gen Unreal 3 game, was a massive disappointment from a tech point of view. Remember Me (2013) was relatively standard console fair, apart from amazing particle effects and great cubemap reflections for a last-gen game.

I've played it before including the DLC. It's pretty bad. When I get around to doing the review, I'll give all my opinions. All I'll say now is, development hell or not, how that game got through Gearbox and out to the public is baffling. If someone was to tell me that every single person at Gearbox (or wherever it ended up in the end) involved in the development said they loved it and worked on it to the best of their abilities, then I don't believe that. However, if that's true, I would apologize and show a bit more respect. But I can't see how any developer could release a game in that state in 2012 and think it's up to par with the competition or any other FPS for that matter.

It's a mediocre game with lots of annoyances, stupid humor and failed opportunities. AngryJoe in his old days has actually a good review on it.
@Gamingpastime646 жыл бұрын
I thought 2K Games published it? Whoever had control over development before that game went out the door should have delayed it for more development time. I can't believe that everyone who play tested DNF thought it was actually enjoyable or at least good enough to be compared to other contemporary shooters or even DN3D for that matter. It may have been a business/financial decision to release it in that state and the end result is a very lackluster game.

Enjoyed every minute of this game. I was locked out of the original courtesy of GFWL, but years later, at least it was an awesome game in the end. Shame it didn't do better. It really understood fun.

This is definitely better than Wolfenstein 2009. Ever since the first time I played it as a teenager, I've found the humour in the dialogue to be a bit painful at times but it's a very fun game. The humour in the type of kills you can get is at least darkly funny, and Bulletstorm has the kind of gameplay loop I need every once in a while. The Echoes mode is a nice thing to jump into every once in a while. The point in the game when they realize that they've actually been working for the bad guy all along (no knowledge of anyone they've killed) is so bad I burst out laughing on my first playthrough though.

A fun fps with the emphasis on shooting and killing. In a sense it's what DNF should have been. The full clip edition doesn't add much except that it removes GFWL which was for me the primary reason to reacquire it. The game should have been handed out with a heavy discount for original owners but Gearbox never fails in the easy money grab department.

I'm sorry but I fucking despise the fact this game says "full clip edition" was mag so hard to put in instead?

I can't believe you didn't mention Sarrano in more detail. Most of that guy's dialogue is so vulgar, childish and angry it's actually one of the high points of the game. I totally fucking lost it when he was emptying an assault rifle at a crowd of enemies while simultaneously telling them to "suck the tears off his dick". You can tell the polish People Can Fly wrote most of this dialogue.

I'd try the game just to hear the dialogue. lol
