It boggles my mind that 27,000 people watched Part 1 and only 8,000 wanted part 2! Thanks so much for these, was thinking of picking this up at the UK Games Expo and will find it hard to resist now I know how it's all played!

Awesome couple of videos Paul - really appreciate your efforts. I just received my copy of 'new' TTA from the UK and your rules overview has significantly accelerated my progress along the rules learning curve! I'm probably in the minority here (minority of 1? :-D), but I actually prefer this style of video. Don't get me wrong - all your videos are great, but I find this more 'organic' style without the graphics easier to follow / more instructive. Not sure why and just sharing my view. Anyway, whatever form they take, I'm grateful for your clear explanations of some very complex games. Cheers!

Great video! Bit of a odd question... What video editing software do you use? It appears as though the raw footage is just a still shot and you edit in the zooms and pans after the fact. Is that the case? I'm a budding KZbinr and would love to use a technique like this.

Hi there, a question about aggression cards, i see someone else asked but you didnt answered. It was about destroy grey card, but you only removed its worker from the card. Does it mean that the card stays in game and i can still build workers for it, or the card should be removed to discard pile. All others is clear and thanks for the great videos.
@GamingRulesVideos6 жыл бұрын
oops. I try and answer every question, so apologies for this. The card itself is NOT the building. The card just represents that you know how to build that thing. The yellow cube on the card is the building (and the person working in it).

Thank you for this fantastic tutorial. Maybe it's too late, but I have a question on tactics: If we have the right counts for the tactic card, I can add a +1/2/3... on my strength. What happens if I send my troops to gain a territory ? Do I have to remove the +1/2/3 ... that I added before, because I don't have the whole army anymore ?
@GamingRulesVideos10 ай бұрын
Your strength is always adjusted. So, if you have Medieval Army (1 Infantry and 1 Cavalry), you get a +2 Strength for each pair of INF+CAV. So, if you have two pairs, you get +4 Strength. If you then colonise with 1 INF (so that you now have 1 INF+2CAV, you only get +2 from your Tactics instead of +4. And of course, you lose the Strength of the unit sent to colonise.

Question about "Territory" action... I know in your example you had the red player win the bid (territory card). But lets say the green player won the bid (bidding two armies/forces), he removes the yellow cube from his "Swordsman" card and that satisfies his bid of two. My question is, he no longer meets the prerequisites of his "Fighting Band" tactics card (two infantry men). Does he pull his flag marker off the tactics card and adjusts his strength on the strength track (-1) for losing his tactic and (-2) for losing his swordsman? Thanks, Tony
@GamingRulesVideos9 жыл бұрын
+Tony Brum Hi Tony, his flag would stay on the tactics card, but he would lose the strength bonus from it.

Q: Da Vinci leader card says "Your best lab or library PRODUCES an ADDITTIONAL amount of science equal to it's level" Is this extra production influenced by the number of yellow tokens on the card or should I just add 1 science on the science score each round (if my best lab/library is level 1) no matter how many yellow tokens on the card? Example: My best library is Printing Press ( level 1 = 1 science), I have 2 yellow tokens on it. Should I with Da Vinci recieve 2 + 1 extra = 3 science or 1 ekstra science pr yellow token (2 x 2 = 4)?
@GamingRulesVideos2 жыл бұрын
The extra production is not influenced by the number of tokens on the card. The text says “your best library produces science equal to its level”. Each yellow cube on a card is a building, if you have two cubes, that’s two libraries. So, the “best one” produces 1 science. If you had a level 3 library and a level 1 library for example, the level 3 library would produce 3 more science. Hope that helps.

Hi Paul. On the example of the territory card - when the player wins the bid and places the Vast Territory near their playing board, does the culture token in the top right act as a +U culture bonus each round or does the U score one culture immediately?
@GamingRulesVideos6 жыл бұрын
The harp icon in the top right of the territory just indicate that this is an event card that you play onto the event space on the board.

Hello Paul, Great Job, Regarding the Urban building limit, say Im still on despotism I have limit of 2, and I have 2 labs, can I buy a third lab but not upgrade it till I upgrade my government? Or I'm limited to 2 cards same as I'm limited to 2 cubes? Thanks
@GamingRulesVideos6 жыл бұрын
The urban building limit is on the "number of cubes on lab cards", not the number of cards. I.e. you can still be a despot and have Philosophy, Alchemy, Scientific Method, and Computers all in play - just no more than 2 cubes on labs in total.

Hi! Question about discarding military cards: What if you spend all your 2 red tokens (for example to copy a tactics.). Because of this, do you need to discard all your military cards at the start of your turn ending sequence? Or you can keep the 2 cards because of your government, despotism?
@GamingRulesVideos8 жыл бұрын
You only discard down to the number of mil actions you have in total, not how many you have left.
@martonszurdoki58398 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! :) I found another thing which isn't obvious in the rulebook. (Maybe it's because of the translation.). If you play a leader with a one time ability (Julius Ceasar, and the + military action.) you can only trigger this ability on the same turn you played down the leader, or you can play the card now but save the ability for later?
@GamingRulesVideos8 жыл бұрын
The bonus mil action from Caesar is permanent. It gives you 1 extra mil action as long as he is in play.

I have one question: When changing government with the revolution it has to be the first civil action you take, right? Now, does purchasing that card from the row count as civil action ergo do you have to wait until the next round to play that revolutionary govenrment change?
@GamingRulesVideos4 жыл бұрын
correct. the first civil action you take. And you are right, taking a card from the row IS a civil action, so you can't take it and change government in the same turn.

Another awesome video, Paul, especially since it was unscripted! I would like to point out one error though. Declaring a revolution does not have to be the first civil action you take in your action phase. A revolution requires that you use all of your civil action tokens. You may be able to take a civil action and still have a revolution if there is some effect which allows you to get your civil action token back (such as if you were to replace a leader).

Can a player be at war with more than one player? What happens in that case?
@GamingRulesVideos6 жыл бұрын
When YOU declare war on someone, you play the war card as your Political action, and it is resolved at the start of YOUR next turn. At which point, you can then play another war card as your next political action. But... there is nothing to stop a player having war declared on them multiple times. e.g. in a 4-player game, if 3 players are on 30 strength, and the 4th player is on 0 strength. Players 1, 2, and 3 might, on their turn declare war on player 4. If this happens though, player 4 is likely to drop from the game on their turn. :)

Hi there! When red gains 3 food from the territory, if he has irrigration, does that mean he only needs to take 2 cubes? 1 cube in irrigation (worth 2) and 1 cube in agriculture? Also, what happens if you want to spend an odd number of food to increase your population, but your blue cubes are only worth even amounts (e.g. you have 4 food from 2 blue cubes, but you need to spend 3 to increase population)? Thanks :)
@GamingRulesVideos7 жыл бұрын
Hi. When you gain 3 food from the territory, you can take it however you want. So, if you have Irrigation, you are right, you can take just 2 cubes. If you ever want to spend an odd number, you get change. So, if you had 1 cube on Irrigation and needed to spend 1 food, you would just move the cube down to the Agriculture. Hope that helps.
