Also, Woods references being stuck in the “Hanoi Hilton”, one of if not the *worst* POW camp during the Vietnam War. It earned its name from the US soldiers imprisoned there who were treated incredibly inhumanely such as being chained in straining positions, being beaten upside down, and being confined to quarters too small for them while still in shackles. So Woods endured THAT, and *then* watched his men die of starvation one by one as he hung onto the thread of hate that kept him going. Woods is a *BEAST* and we love him for it.

2 things I also love about Harper's (potential) death scene. Is that he calls back at what he said the begging of the mission when he says, "no matter what happens out there, when the bullets start flying, you CANNOT blow your cover." And in that moment he calls Farid "Egghead" the nickname harper calls him through out the game. By saying "Do it, Egghead! Do your job!" he's trying to discreetly tell Farid to kill him and to keep his cover.

I think a lot of us on the internet, especially now after a whole 10 years have passed since this game came out and we got older, all got to grow up in our early teens in the golden age of COD and COD youtube. And BO2 was not only the peak of that era, but the end of it too. I think thats why so many of us have such a strong connection to this game. I mean yeah it's straight up the best cod game thats come out ever even without all the nostalgia, but really i think this game encapsulates an era that we will never be able to go back to again, one that i think alot of us look back on as some of our best memories

One of my favorite parts about BO2 is how while there are choices, not all of them matter as much. Harper getting his face burned adds exactly one line of dialogue and changes his model, but that's it. Not shooting Kravchenko adds some dialogue as well, but doesn't actually affect anything. Meanwhile, assassinating Tian Zhao saves the U.S.S. Obama and nets you sniper support during the final mission (and these snipers will immediately kill any enemy snipers as well). Not shooting Harper as Farid indirectly gets both Chloe and Salazar killed. Some choices have much more impact, but all of them still affect some things, so they all still matter. (Also Strike Force missions were cool and I want them to come back)

So in 2013 my Mom basically disappeared for a few months and left me to live at... some guy she knew's place. He barely came by either so for months, I had the place paid for and to myself. Mom would drop off like $20 for groceries... weekly? Biweekly? It was rare. And the only entertainment I had was the guy's TV and a PS3 with 'Skyrim', 'NFS: Hot Pursuit' and this. And I played 'Black Ops II' campaign literal dozens of times because of this. Fun Fact: The story of BO2 can change due to your actions and its actually possible to get a good ending for the game. For example, the first major decision with Alex Mason, you actually can make yourself NOT shoot Kravchenko and in order to get the best ending, these are the major ones: Major Choice #1: As Mason, you don't shoot Kravchenko to get the needed info. Major Choice #2: Save Karma, before she's taken away. Major Choice #3: During the Flashback scene where you play Menendez, when you control Mason, there's a room you can find Intel that will change the events of the story of Mason learning major secrets never been seen before. If you don't find them, you get the semi-good ending. Major Choice #4: Don't Kill Mason. Shoot him in his legs like you did. Major Choice #5: Sad as it is...as Farid, you have to kill Harper in order to get the good ending. Major Choice #6: Spare the admiral during the whole ship level (I forget the name of it. XD) Major Choice #7: You must make sure to complete all the side missions as if you don't, you will get the bad ending in doing so. And Major Choice #8: Spare Menendez. Which you already did and that's good. If you do these choices, you get the good ending and everyone is able to live a better life, save for Menendez who's furious and uh...shows his frustration. 😅

Gameplay-wise and Story-Wise, this game is phenomenal for a cod game. Im playing games for 9 years now and I already played all cod games (incl. Vanguard) and this game is so unique that its probably the only cod game that I will repeat again and again. The story is so great for a sequel even tho there's some weird dialogues, it still gets the job done. One thing is, the branching storylines and decision-based story is so unique and phenomenal for a cod game. Most of the features are unique and not just some copy paste from other game. This game became the structure-bone for the next cod games cuz they literally copy pasted the same formula of bo2 again and again. Multiplayer, the most fun in most of the cod games. All of the most iconic maps on multiplayer came from bo2 and we can see it being copy pasted on most of the new cod games. In zombies, I loved it. I hate complicated stuff and thats the reason why I didnt played transit that much but the rest of the maps is just amazing. The zombies here became the framework for bo3 zombies (which they enhanced the formula). For a cod game, I'll rate it 9/10. But for an fps game, its an 8.5/10.

I'm so happy to hear you say IW is up there with the best. The campaign is one of the more underrated ones and I always have a blast playing through it!

This game and black ops 1 are just some of the best cods we’ve had. Love the games, so much. The music, gunplay, everything, was perfect.

It’s funny you name drop Infinite Warfare. It will forever go down as one of the best and most underrated campaigns of COD. An incredible game that just came at the wrong time. After so many other futuristic type games COD pumped out, the audience felt the fatigue. And also being the bandwagon of the dislike button when the trailer came out and also competing with the more “boots on the ground” feel that BF1 had, that didn’t help either. The story, the graphics and most importantly the characters went way above my expectations. Characters that you care about. In a COD game that’s almost unheard of. Even though Kit Harrington’s character was honestly just to attract a certain audience and criminally underused. There’s a different vibe in almost every mission. And don’t get me started on the space battles. Sure the multiplayer wasn’t the best (a bit repetitive) but it was enjoyable even though for a short while. I guarantee you if COD didn’t make so many of the same games and started the new fresh futuristic feel with IW it would’ve gone gangbusters. Please do IW one day, I will defend this game until I leave this earth. You know what? I’m gonna download it again when I get home! Fingers crossed you shed some light on it one day. 🤞🏾Keep up the good work man!

And after 10 years and playing that campaign like..3 times, I discovered that you can burn Harper's face in this video. That's how cool the Black Ops series was, as you said, those little moments in gameplay that are details but make it more interesting.

The ending of this game was just so absurd that it's hilarious, this was one of my farvorite COD games other than the Modern Warfare trilogy..

I can't wait for BO3 it is one of my favorite and puts you through a whole rollercoaster of emotions and the ending is insane. Also Mason is alive only if you shoot him in the leg. If you shoot him in the head he doesn't come back. So thats what I love about this game. The different endings makes you want to make all the different choices each and every time.

Black Ops 2 was my first cod game ever. I had played with my friends always with the multiplayer and the endless nights playing zombies on transit and other maps. It was those moments I fully realize Video Games are fucking amazing.

Also 22:20 is really a painful choice. You want to save Harper but you’ll get killed by Mendendez (who is disappointed and wouldn’t preferred to kill him), and to get the best ending you have to kill Harper, which makes Farid racked in guilt. I always sympathize with Farid when Mason shows up and chokes out that he didn’t have a choice.

This is no doubt my favourite call of duty but an unpopular opinion is I really enjoyed Bo3, they deviated from what we expect in a black ops and I enjoyed it

One thing that I love is that if you spare Menendez, the music is heroic and victorious, but if you kill him, the music is somber and grim

Fun fact: that theme you love when you shoot Mason was composed by Trent Reznor, of Nine Inch Nails fame.

I had always felt BO1 was a pretty weak story that built off of the cliche-driven World at War, so I was kind of blown away at how nuanced BO2 was. Definitely one of the best CoD campaigns out there.
@Nothingforever1922 жыл бұрын
How in any way is world at war “cliche-driven”? BO2 had way more clichés lol
@brainwasher98762 жыл бұрын
@@Nothingforever192 Maybe that wasn't the best way of phrasing it, but I found WaW's characters to be pretty bland and the plot more or less non-existent. All the characters were pretty one-dimensional. The Americans were gung-ho, Japanese were perfidious, Russians were revenge driven. Pretty much everyone was screaming all the time, which didn't help individual characters sticking out. I think it says something about the quality of WaW's story when what most people would agree is the most memorable mission, Vendetta, was ripped almost line for line from Enemy at the Gates. BO2's story was much more personal and fun to think about. The multiple different endings was a fun addition that I wish we saw more of in CoD games, and the characters individually stuck out to me more. I can immediately pick out the difference between Farid and Harper compared to, say, Roebuck and Polonksy.
@Nothingforever1922 жыл бұрын
@@brainwasher9876 Damn, I see what you mean. I think it’s my rose tinted glasses clouding my view. BO2 does a good job of having that conspiracy especially when paired that piano track. Everyone was screaming in that WAW! I feel like it captures the essence of what war may have felt like back in those times, so I always just focused on that. Explains why I didn’t feel any attachment when characters died. But having multiple endings in BO2 was cool! Maybe not my first time around when I got the worst one lol. I was just mad about the whole cliché comment so I said that BO2 had some, but I can’t really think of any now.

I really like the big music video that ends the main campaign with all the major characters. Considering the next BO game had little to nothing to do with this one, that music video serves as a pretty fitting finale to the whole storyline.

22:19 I just realized this is a reversal of President Al-Fulani’s execution in COD4 - the big bad points a gun at the executioner, then twirls it and let him take it to execute a restrained character. Only now you are the executioner and not the victim.

When I first played the game I had no idea what martyr meant, I assumed he was just saying murder, I chose to kill him. Just now I realized what Raul meant, also never knew what Ulysses was, thank you for teaching me.
