Hudson was probably one of the cleanest people in the CIA. Irl most CIA agents are completely devoid of compassion, so they can do really fucked up things with zero hesitation. I've heard many stories of them trying to recruit actual sociopaths or even sadists. Hudson definitely isn't either of those. Yes, he does bad things, but he does them for a good purpose, not just for personal gain. If that was his only motivating factor, he would have given up on Mason in BO1 as quickly as his superiors.

@f1ves9615 ай бұрын
@@bydlakbolszewik847That's just absolutely not true at all lmao. The ideal CIA agent is somebody that's a social butterfly that's able to get along with everybody. The entire objective of the CIA after all is to get other people to trust them and betray their government for the interest of the United States, so an emotionless agent would struggle in this area of trying to gain that kind of trust. Basically, the ideal CIA agent needs to be more of a psychopath or a malevolent person who can display one emotion or feeling while being able to hide their true intentions. Hudson in terms of his personality probably wouldn't be in the CIAs top 5 for being an agent but since he's familiar with being in foreign countries while most likely being able to speak multiple languages, he could still very easily pass to working for them. Also with the kind of stuff that goes on in Call of Duty, no CIA agent is EVER going to get a chance to experience anything that's even remotely close to something such as assassinations, large gunfights, or interrogations.

CW Hudson and BO1/BO2 Hudson seem like completely different characters. A perfect example is in CW when Hudson snarkily tells Woods to "not get any bright ideas". In BO2, even though it's clear they don't like each other, at least Woods doesn't like Hudson, he is a lot more compassionate towards Woods. He goes out of his way to rescue him, even calls him "brother" several times, doesn't push further when Woods doesn't let him interrogate Kravchenko, etc. Maybe CW was just a tough time for him, dealing with the stress of the world possibly going to shit because of his own incompetence (the stolen nuke), that would explain why he's much more unpleasant than any other time we see him. I still think he was misrepresented; BO1 Hudson was a badass, while CW Hudson is like that one overly strict teacher that everyone hated.

Woods is just too straightforward. He doesn't like the way Hudson take care of things. While Hudson is a sort of guy that wants to do things in a secret way to preserve the integrity of people even though some of them are corrupt, he likes to play the CIA game. Woods just doesn't take any thing that seems to be wrong and unreliable. He's a pragmatic man. A very loyal and reliable guy. The one that doesn't let you behind anywhere, a true friend. And he doesn't make the effort to be more calm. He's a hothead. Hudson in my opinion, redeemed himself in black ops 2. That last act lf courage of giving himself up to be tortured and killed in order to save his friends. But Woods is not a saint as well. He lost his shit and killed Josefina.
@bydlakbolszewik8475 ай бұрын
Even though what Woods did was wrong, it's also completely understandable and you can't really blame him for that. How do you think you would react if you saw the man that slow tortured your friends in front of you, and then threw you into a container with their rotting corpses for several weeks? I'd instead blame whoever approved Woods to take part in that mission. In real life someone with such a short temper as Woods would never get approved for any secret op.

My perspective on Jason Hudson in the "Call of Duty: Black Ops" series paints a nuanced picture of a character often seen through the lens of duty and sacrifice. Indeed, Hudson is portrayed as a complex figure, deeply committed to his country and comrades despite the harsh methods he sometimes employs. Here’s a more detailed breakdown of the points I want to mention: 1. **Interrogating Mason**: Hudson’s decision to interrogate Alex Mason was driven by a desperate need to prevent the catastrophic Nova 6 attacks. This difficult choice underscores his willingness to make personal sacrifices for the greater good, demonstrating his commitment to national security. 2. **Relationship with Mason**: Hudson’s care for Mason is evident despite the tough exterior. He chose to support Mason and sought to help him, reflecting his underlying compassion. His refusal to eliminate Mason, despite Weaver’s concerns, shows his belief in Mason’s potential for recovery and his inherent goodness. 3. **Emails and Concerns**: The concern Hudson shows for Mason in various communications highlights his empathetic side. These details enrich his character, showing that he wasn’t merely a cold operative but someone who valued his comrades’ well-being. 4. **Sacrifice in Black Ops II**: Hudson’s ultimate sacrifice to save Frank Woods and David Mason further cements his status as a hero. This selfless act demonstrates his unwavering loyalty and willingness to put others before himself, a hallmark of his character. 5. **Comparison to Adler**: Unlike Adler in "Black Ops Cold War," who is portrayed as more manipulative and morally ambiguous, Hudson's actions, though sometimes severe, are rooted in a clear sense of duty and honor. In summary, Jason Hudson’s character is multifaceted, embodying the traits of a dedicated and selfless hero who faced incredibly tough decisions. His legacy within the "Call of Duty" series is one of sacrifice, loyalty, and a deep commitment to his country and comrades. This man may have a cold demenour but he is not as manipulative like Adler in call of duty cold war

I honestly think Woods had every right to hate Hudson. Hudson was a traitor and a double agent. There was clear indicators in both of the games. In Baikinour, Weaver was burned and compromised. Even though Hudson was not shown yet, there was no clear indicator of how he was caught. In the level “Crash Site”, Dragovich and Kravchenko are seen towards the end of the level. The only reason two high ranking officers would show up to that crash site is if they know a HVT would show up and they did know that Mason, Woods, and Bowman were going to be there. In BO2, the biggest indicator was in the Afghanistan level when Kravchenko indicated that Menéndez had people in the CIA. As soon as he said that, Hudson became defensive and claimed that Kravchenko was lying. In the Panama level, Hudson lied to Mason and Woods throughout the whole mission. Towards the end, Hudson tricked Woods into thinking that Nexus target was Menéndez and manipulated him into pulling the trigger on his own friend. You have to admit that Woods was hot-headed and judgmental, but he definitely had a sixth sense about Hudson.

Hate how they totally criminalized Hudson in Cold War. Like that’s all he is. A punching bag for the rest of the team. He’s not cool, calculating and sharp as in blops 1/2. And I hate woods acting. Fucking melodrama we do t need it. God Cold War was cringe
@MisterDragon_5 ай бұрын
Cold War butchered every reoccurring character: Mason doesn't sound like Mason and barley looks his age. Woods is purely just a joke in Cold War despite having serious moments in the BO1 and BO2 campaign (Russian Roulet, getting his knees blown out, and retelling stories to David) Hudson like you mentioned is a punching bag for everyone and is turned into a semi-villian and acted like no one respected him. I think they forgot who the characters were while making the game.

@@MisterDragon_ The biggest issue there is how they made Woods. James C Burns said himself that treyarch didnt even attempt at calling him back for Cold War and instead replaced him with a low badly made impression of him. (Tho its not the new VA's fault but more the voice directors fault.) And his personality is so goofy, nicer than the og Woods who's a hot-headed and impatient kind of guy.
@f1ves9615 ай бұрын
The only reason why Hudson was depicted as a "bad guy" in Cold War was because the entire game is based around exploring the dark deeds of the CIA and Hudson being in the CIA, he's basically guilty by association. The operation greenlight thing wasn't designed by Hudson but since he's CIA, he's gotta share some of that blame with the CIA as an organization. The only real bad thing he did in Cold War was that he didn't tell Woods, Mason, and the rest of the team about the nukes but not because he didn't want to. If you've ever played Cyberpunk 2077s DLC, then may also see some similarities between Reed and Hudson with their loyalty to their respective agencies
@isaakknighthd58885 ай бұрын
I give Cold War credit for 1 reason, it wasn't even meant to be Treyarchs game at first. All because Sledgehammer and Raven couldn't get along, Activision took their scraps and threw it in Treyarchs face and said "You have 1 year, turn this into a Black Ops game so we don't miss a yearly release" And given the circumstances like COVID with most people including the developers working from home, Treyarch did pretty fucking good. Cold War is not on the same level as BO1 or BO2, obviously. But it was sure as hell better than BO3 and BO4, and it was made in such little time during COVID. I still don't forgive them not calling James though. Woods just isn't the same without James lending the voice
@extinctiongaming35565 ай бұрын
@@MisterDragon_okay, the age thing is bullshit because aging in Black Ops makes no sense. Woods is about late 30s in BO1. BO2 he's 50 something and still looks like he's in his late 30s to early '40s. Same with Mason. And by the way, have you ever seen a 90-year-old veteran? They never look as good as Woods here. Not even 0.1% of the population genetics can do that
@chikentinder6627Ай бұрын
I like to think Adler and Hudson are unique is how they interact because of how similar and how different they are. Like Hudson is very by the books, very dedicated to his country, and solely mission focused but when it comes to those who he trusts like Mason and Woods, he’s willing to put a lot of that aside for their sake even if it means protecting David at the cost of Mason’s life, Woods’ legs, and Hudson’s life himself. VERY SLIGHT SPOILERS FOR BO6 Adler on the other hand is also mission focused himself and a good patriot like Hudson, but unlike Hudson, Adler will do ANYTHING to complete the mission even if it doesn’t follow protocol but he can do things that seem almost borderline evil for the “greater good” like brainwashing and killing Bell or committing war crimes in BO6 and egging Case to do the same. Like the characters in call of duty aren’t saints especially the black ops characters, but Adler rubs a lot of people the wrong way both in universe and in real life. A lot of sentiment about him in universe is that he’s untrustworthy because he might betray you for the mission. But even then since he’s a really well written character and cool, in my opinion, I don’t mind, but it’s something to keep in mind. Either way both characters are fun because while they both have their issues, they’re both ready to be there when they’re needed on a moment’s notice. TL;DR: Hudson is very by the books and is loyal to his friends while Adler is a good patriot but he will do even morally shady things to get the job done making a lot of people around him weary around him.
