The last thing, and I do mean the very last thing, I'm concerned about when shooting a air rifle is the recoil. I could care less how it "bumps" my shoulder. I want to see tight groups. All else is secondary.

This video definitely puts a "positive spin" on the topic of Gamo accuracy. If my sponsors told me to review something, would I do any better? This is 1/2 review and 1/2 infomercial. I'm big into the knife world and many reviewers may as well work for the companies that keeps giving them stuff to talk about. (my rant is mostly over the accuracy portion)

Awesome video, Ben 😎. I was glad to see that you had very similar results in accuracy and velocity since we now live and shoot in similar elevations. After ongoing shooting, I’ve noticed that the gun holds quite consistently in accuracy; I took a shot at a running rat and nailed it within the range I had sighted (under 30 yards I think). For a break barrel to be able to perform that well is very impressive.

Hey Dollar Sportsman, you, Ben, Rick Eutsler, Airgun Angie, Keith Warren, and the Pyramyd Air guys should get together and do a Gamo Hog Hunt like the Squirrel Master Classic. That would make an Awesome video. Ten two man teams, one week hunting in Texas, Charity event feeding homeless vets. Keith and Matti, You and Ben, Rick and Angie, Rossi and Jim, Steve (AEA) and JC (Airgun Detectives), Sam Wood and Rick (Shooter 1721), Wingman115 and Iguana Man, James(STKO) and Donnie (All Things Airgun), Brett (Bretts Crappy Shots) and Bear (Bear Independent). Everyone hunts using their favorite Gamo airgun. I would pay to be a part of that competition or watch and I bet so would a lot of other people. Stay Safe, Be Well, God Bless.

@@TheDollarSportsman Hopefully you can get some vets or Wounded Warrior Foundation to also join in. Maybe you could put up the video around Memorial Day or 911 or 4th of July. It would be a great publicity for Gamo and even better for vets if Gamo donates proceeds to help. I have a feeling Biden and Harris have already forgotten about our vets. At the end of the hunt you all do a bbq and make sausages showing various recipes. It might be good for a few episodes.

This is a great break barrel air gun. My new go to hunting air rifle for sure. Gamo really knocked this one out of the park IMO. Especially when I'm getting 1050 fps with PBA Platinum pellets at my elevation in Pennsylvania. So id say your elevation where you live is robbing you a bit, but still doing great for your area I'm sure.

I think this is just a gen2 maxxim with a wood stock. My maxxim shoots great for the price. I wish Gamo would make a high end version with the same quality and attention to detail as Air Arms, Weihrauch, or even RWS/Diana. Maybe with machined aluminum swarm magazines instead of plastic. I just put a new spring and seal in my old Hunter 880 I bought back in the 90s. It is easily more accurate than my 6 month old maxxim. But it was made before Gamo merged with Daisy, and before they were Walmart guns.

Thanks for this informative review. Initially, after watching Airgun Detective's recent review of this model , I was pretty keen on getting this rifle. Now, after watching yours, I am not so sure - quite a bit of discrepancy in performance between the two reviews. I get that there is a bit of velocity loss at the higher altitude that you are in, but the model you reviewed seems quite a bit less accurate than the one he tested. Of course, different pellets were used in the two reviews, but I trust that you both tried to use pellets that you thought would perform at least reasonably well with this rifle.

A little over an inch group at 35 yards with a break barrel is a good result in my book. I have shot groups that were one hole but those are like one out of every 25 attempts... this is more like what I would think anyone would get. Also, because altitude makes a big difference on velocity it’s going to make a big difference on the pellet that works best. 👊
@kitcarson7572
@kitcarson7572 3 жыл бұрын
@@ShootingGearReviews A one inch group at 35 yards is not good. I have watched every video I can find in regards to the Bone Collector, the Fusion, Maxxim and all show a very poor accuracy result. Not sure why it just is what it is. Could be the barrel twist in relation to the power in these rifles, there is definitely something causing the accuracy issue. I own the new Gamo .22 Magnum Gen2 X whatever, it is the newest one and at 40 yards I get one hole groups.(H and N Field Target Power) Yes it has both a longer barrel and much more velocity. In any event it is accurate and all videos on it also show this result overall for the Magnum as do all the videos in regards to the Bone Collector, Maxxim and Fusion show less than ideal accuracy. Using this research it is quite apparent that mid range Gamo air rifles do suffer from accuracy issues. I have several HW rifles and a Beeman R9 and they all one hole group at 35 yards. So I give Gamo a 10/10 for their new Magnum, however they still need to work on their Maxxim, Fusion and Bone Collector mid range models. Cheers Kit

@@kitcarson7572why is this rifle not accurate? You can see that this rifle is dieseling, so the seal is already broken. Plastic breach , stop pin and feeding mechanism=plastic. Also the build in moderator is a big placebo. Hunter 440 without it vs roadster with it. Which one is quieter ? Of course the 440 . Also the pellets are scratching the moderator and in the magazine and deforming those pellets. Not bad but not great rifle for this amount for money👍

Hey Ben, thanks again for the great review. You really make it hard to decide which one to get. Originally I planned on getting the Swarm Magnum Gen 2, but then you did the comparison with the Urban. Now, Gamo has this sweet Swarm Bone Collector!!! Don't hate me for all these questions and requests...afterall, Gamo is going to be getting a lot of money from me. Would you please do a penetration test between the three guns using slugs at a maximum range of about 50 yards? I'm hoping to hunt some wild hogs with my kids. Was planning on getting the Urbans for my kids and the Magnum for me, but if they are all capable of adequate penetration at 50 yards, I might just get two of each. Stay Safe, Be Well, God Bless.

Hey, I figured I might be able to answer your question. I have a collection of Gamo break barrels and I’d say the only thing capable of taking down game the size of wild boar would be the magnum in .22 cal. However, it would still take a perfectly placed shot right between the eyes in order to get the job done humanely. If you wanna hunt wild hogs, I would recommend you use a real firearm, preferably bigger than a .22 cal. Wild hogs are pretty tough animals.
@kenfan5666

@@edward4033 Thanks for your response. I have a bunch of older metal coil spring Gamo break barrels and only recently bought the Gamo Swarm Magnum Gen 2 in .22 and was under the impression that it would be adequate with head shots. Mostly I plan to hunt iguanas and smaller hogs, 20 to 30 pounds max. Btw, what model Gamos do you have, and what are the largest game you have humanely harvested with head shots? At what ranges? Also, I've been contemplating getting a .50 caliber Dragons Claw for deer season because it shoots bolts and slugs and is legal for big game. Do you have any experience with this rifle or can you suggest any large caliber airgun for larger game? Thanks again for your prompt reply. Stay Safe. Be Well. GOD BLESS.

I see now, thank you. Such a beautiful rifle one of my favorites so far. 750 fps is still pretty good for lead and backyard friendly, kind of lol. My little ruger apx almost goes completely through 3/4” lumbar will dent the back side for like 550 600fps that’s pretty powerful really and I don’t have to worry about it punching through the neighbors wall. I’m assuming this wouldn’t pass completely through it either unless I have the perfect pellet or close range. Idk though because an extra 150 feet in a second is considerably faster if you think about traveling 150 feet in one second by itself makes it seem much faster when you look at it like that.

I think I would be really disappointed having spent that sort of cash on a bone collector to have it perform that badly I have airguns built 130 years ago that do better and they only cost me one third of the price. Quite why gamo produce these guns in calibers less than .25 is beyond me. Gamo produce to a low unit cost and have been very slow to learn that accuracy is more important to a shooter than ridiculous claims and a lot of guff, which will always peg their brand name in the low quality league a shame as with a little more consideration they could do so much better. Gamo seem to be happy selling substandard products to the uninitiated shooter it seems to have become their niche in life, but what will happen when the great American public finally get sick of it and stop buying their products. It happened in the UK to such an extent that it brought down other Spanish gunmakers with them. The gun you were shooting was puffing smoke like an old steam boat which would explain the poor consistency readings it also showed us that the muzzle brake did not work. Best I can say for it from you vid is that the action sounded OK and the stock was passable.I believe they are now into gen 3.lets hope they prove better.
