Experts should be provided some context about the game, such as: -Arthur is a total amateur hunter and fisherman -Even if then animation is not shown, the parts of the body like meat, fat, horns, antlers etc are harvested -Most carcasses can be given to trappers, butchers and out camp cook for further use - Not all carcasses can be picked up or carried by horse
@SlippyMuncher8 ай бұрын
and once again they need better game play that's not just an intern playing the game, like the tomahawk clip is not something that should of been included and most of the kills is just spur of the moment kills not anything that properly displays how hunter works in rdr2.

I haven’t watched the full video yet, but most of the time they just showed him taking the hide and leaving the carcass there. I wish they would show him hunting and taking the carcass back to camp and bringing it to the camp chef because they always say it’s a waste of meat and all that but like on the main story, it’s definitely not you use that stuff. I’m not going to proofread this comment because I’m using talk to text so I rambled out a lot there

Love Donny and his review of this game. Tho for me, I think the skinning animations in the game were more so to get the point across rather than trying to go for a super realistic approach. Cause if they did, the time it would take him to skin an animal would be way longer and more tedious. In my opinion, they did a good job with the skinning animations. Theres a lot of things that are accurate about them and a lot that aren't, but at the end of the day, it's a game 🤷👌
@donparkison46175 ай бұрын
Right?! People playing the game would have been pissed if in order to get a hide, you had to set up a rack and stretch and dry the pelt for who knows how many days.
@gsaucegaming66352 ай бұрын
Okay, whoever recorded this gameplay for him has never played red dead before recording. They did everything AWFUL. Can’t ride their horse, uses the wrong guns(including a tomahawk) and has un cared for weapons

Having grown up in Colorado one of the things that I really appreciated about the game was the bird sounds. Absolutely dead on. As you are walking, or hunting or riding slowly in the game, the bird sounds in my headphones reminded me of my childhood before phones or even walkman radios were constantly in my ears.

The gameplay was a bad showing though to. No tracking, using lever actions, pistols and tomahawk... I'm cringing from a gameplay point of view that they're not even trying to give the best sides.
@Just_Some_Clown6 ай бұрын
@@TheMonkeyEmperorit’s weird that the lever actions in game are considered “bad” for hunting, considering a shit load of hunting at this point in time would’ve been done with lever actions. It’s a deadly enough weapon to take just about anything you’d be hunting down.
@TheMonkeyEmperor6 ай бұрын
@Just_Some_Clown I wouldn't actually know, but im betting a 9mm round wouldn't any more damage then a 308😅 orrr idk what the rifles use but point is probably still valid. Lever are using pistol size vs a rifle caliber... yuh know turkeys-deers would be fine
@bilbobaggins14685 ай бұрын
@TheMonkeyEmporer lever guns use a wide range of rounds, some common ones are .44 and 45-70 which both shoot a much larger slug then a 9mm. Some lever guns fire rifle ammo too such as 308 like you mentioned. It’s just a loading system, not a caliber

I'd say his assessments were wrong on every level in regards to "fun gameplay". He complained the skinning was done too fast so not accurate. Would it have been better if every time you butchered an animal you had to sit trough a 1-2 hour long cut scene? It would be more accurate but it would make for horrible gameplay. This guy might be an expert on survival but obviously completely oblivious to what makes good gameplay.
@enthusiasticallydry8 ай бұрын
6:30 he did not puncture the animal, he just pushed the body, to make sure it was dead/just to push it into an easier position

Exactly. That push on most animals that plays during the very beginning of skinning animations is there to straighten the animal out so the animation can play properly.

I'm glad that he talks about skinning the jackrabbit -- I always wondered if that's really the way to skin it. The side quest where Arthur teaches a widow up in Willard's Rest to hunt a jackrabbit and skin it by pulling it apart makes me wonder. Of course, in the end RDR2 is a game. If it goes too deep into realism, Arthur will take awhile to skin an animal. I miss hunting Legendary Grizzly with Hosea. :(

a lot of the cooler stuff in rdr2 hunting is from the crafting mechanics, making bait, our main character Arthur has 2 main friends that teach him to hunt, fish, and craft, Hosea, a man in his 50s who essentially raised Arthur with their friend Dutch and was born in the mountains hunting bears, and Charles, and half African, half Indian man who manages to make Arthur look weak in comparison to the stuff he does, Hosea is much better at taking down more gameish animals that you either take to sell or just for the fun of hunting, rabbits, bears, that kinda thing. Charles excels with animals that you'd hunt for quality food like deer or bison. They also show Arthur the different ways to hunt, Hosea shows off hunting with traditional weapons, rifles, repeaters, Charles shows him how to use a bow and how to apply more usually niche weapons like knives and such. Hosea introduces Arthur to legendary animals, massive unique 1 of a kind members of a species scattered around, 1000 pound grizzlies, 9 foot tall moose, god dang 15 feet long alligators. All sorts of cool stuff.

When it comes to Arthur doing things quickly, you gotta factor in the fact that a minute is an hour to him. Still remarkably fast, but not as impossible. And we don’t see everything as well, unless Arthur just wears a diaper all game

With the basic needs mod you really have to make him pee and stock up on water and make your horse drink, and if you don't dress to the climate you're in you die a lot quicker. A lot! And use of no water is explainable he's an alcoholic and drinks coffee instead off water.

Greetings Donny. I lived and worked as a Park Ranger in South Africa for many years. I know what it`s like to shoot a charging animal Thankfully didn`t happen often. Better to read the warning signals it is telling you Once you have realised it isn`t a mock charge though you have seconds to decide. We spent ages practicing speed shooting with our rifles. I learnt a lot about different plants and what uses and medicine they provide also as well as tracking.

Needless to say, could not harvest everything, so I went back to sell the things I had, came back, and angry Native Americans were like "You son of a bitch!!!!" and then started shooting me. Immediately thought "yeah, I deserved that."
