In terms of taser killing someone - there was a really known case (at least in Poland) about a polish guy killed by taser in Vancouver. Apperently he didn't know english and couldn't talk with anybody including security and police and started arguing with them. Later he somehow got tased when they took him to another room and he died in result of it.

Loose/baggy clothing or thick clothing can prevent one or both barbs from making skin contact. Do YOU wanna be the guy who's within 1 second of sprinting distance when they have a knife or hammer in their hand and the taser fails to complete the circuit and shock them? Sometimes a guy with a knife or a hammer that's threatening people is just a threat to the people around them and if they won't willingly disarm and submit to arrest, best-case scenario is that they're the only one that dies from their bad decisions and not innocent people he could rush and stab when the taser fails.

Great explanations of Law Enforcement Officers’ equipment done by ChrisTheCop seen in Ready or Not. Also just a caveat, revolvers do fail/malfunction wether it’s out of timing issues, the internals are somehow messed up, & among other issues that revolvers can have. But they don’t have ammo issues semi-auto pistols. However it’s easier to be up close & personal with a revolver since they don’t have reciprocating slide like a semi automatic pistol.

Before anyone else mentions it: revolvers can fail and when they do fail, they generally fail to the point where the gun is completely out of commission. People will often cite that fact when trying to claim revolvers actually aren’t more reliable than autoloaders. However, that’s a bad argument as it doesn’t take into account probability. A revolver jamming is extremely rare, so most of the time it just works. By contrast, a simple stovepipe, FTF, or FTE is much more common so overall revolvers are still more reliable than autoloaders. But autoloaders are plenty reliable today and can hold a lot more bullets, be reloaded faster, and are generally easier to shoot, hence why revolvers generally aren’t used anymore unless, as Chris says, employed as an absolute backup gun.
@gameragodzilla
@gameragodzilla 2 жыл бұрын
@@modernmarksmn Eh, those are problems that can occur with autoloaders, too (and usually are more the fault of ammo than the gun itself), so I consider them more universal problems.

@@thunderring8056 Yes, autoloaders can be cleared more quickly, but the fastest is still not having a malfunction to begin with. And while revolvers can fail, the autoloader is significantly more likely to so the revolver is still more reliable overall.

You'd be correct, NVGs bring light into the Photocathode, turning photons into electrons and then putting them through a multiplier that produces more electrons that then hit a phosphor screen that creates light flashes, because those light flashes are now photons and they've been amplified it creates a brighter version of what you were originally looking at.

i's guessing when the casing of the bullet expands too much and you can't get the case out of the cylinder but other than that the mechanism itself is full proof where the hammer just hits the primer so unless the hammer is fucked up.
@PlayBatty
@PlayBatty Жыл бұрын
Yeah you can definitely still stuff the muzzle and if you fall hard enough/Take a hit, you can bend your cylinder rod which will prevent the cylinder from rotating properly. Some revolvers are better about this but if you slam them closed hard enough, like showed in the movies, you can also bend the cylinder rod. the officer means is that the gun is less likely to fail to cycle and fire due to mechanical simplicity which is genuinely true
@mikethemaniac1
@mikethemaniac1 Жыл бұрын
@@nucleus691 Ahem, shallow seated primers would like a word with you. They refuse to leave. Edit:Revolvers also have a thing called "Timing" which is more sensitive than semi-auto pistols. When the hand (the part that rotates the cylinder to the next locking lug) wears down enough, it can fail to index the chamber in front of the forcing cone. If this happens it'll likely split the cylinder and the frame and eject the barrel off the front, if it doesn't take some fingers or potentially project something back that could kill the shooter. Nice thing about Semi-autos is that malfunctions are already RARE and when they start to malfunction, it's usually not gonna be something that kills you, it's gonna usually be either a weak recoil or magazine spring and effects feeding. A matter of replacing one spring that's easy to get out or one magazine usually. When revolvers do it, it's either gonna need a new barrel, or you'll need a new revolver. Now for the great part. The revolver in the game is a Colt Python, and those are notoriously quick to go out of time and gunsmiths that can get them back in time, as well as the hands themselves are quite few and far between. Smith and wessons are simpler, and I've had them apart. They are clock work.

NVGs take either visible or IR light and amplify it. If there is no visible or IR light then you would not be able to see through them. For example: underground places where there is no visible light, IR lights (light that is invisible to the naked eye) are used to illuminate the area through NVGs, downside to it is that a person who also has any NOD can see it as well.

Preventing a situation from escalating *is* important, but sometimes the way to do that is through direct intervention. The *idea* (although, there has been quite a bit of debate about it in the field of criminal justice) is that if you can take the suspect by surprise and have a total advantage over them (i.e, a swat team with rifles), the suspect is not as likely to escalate to shooting as they would be when the immediate situation is more to their advantage (e.g 1-2 patrol officers knocking on the door and announcing themselves). Obviously you don't want to be kicking in peoples' doors for unpaid parking tickets, so the states have criteria for what does or does not justify a "no-knock warrant". Typically this includes cases where the suspect has barricaded themselves in, past violent offenses (especially involving firearms), or when the nature of the investigation lends itself to a high risk of violent resistance (e.g major narcotics cases, kidnapping, terrorism, etc.).

another thing that nobody ever discusses, when it comes to reloading with the shield. If you count rounds and eject the mag ON your last round, you never have to work the slide. Not after you fire the last round, while the last round is loaded.

As this goes on it kinda becomes more apparently he actually doesn't know as much about guns. Which is fine and all, but seems a bit jarring. The 416 is based on the AR18, and uses a short stroke gas piston. .223 and 5.56 are basically the same round. Fudds will say you can't mix but you sure can, the pressure differences between the cases were more of a difference in how they were measured not an actual difference in pressure. If you really wanted to be safe, you can fire .223 in a 5.56 barrel no problem, so just only use 5.56 mil-spec barrels. The reasons Police and Military adopted short barreled 5.56 weapons instead of 9mm is that the M4 didn't really come about until the late 80s and early 90s, and you can't just cut a barrel shorter on a gun and have it run. There was a lot of changes that the M4 went through to become reliable, especially in where it's Gas tube is pegged. Then even shorter M4, particularly the Mk18 which uses a 10.5 inch barrel came about which needed a different kind of buffer spring and gas tuning than the 14.5 inch M4 had. Since shortening the barrel on the M16 down to the M4 was a more involved process, there actually had to be a change in the bullet's weight- which then also caused for a change in the twist rate of the rifling of the barrel. All this research and dev took time and it's why we used 9mm sub guns for so long- simply put making shorty AR15s just hadn't been worked out yet.

Revolvers are quite reliable and very good in a grapple if you have a true hammerless model but can have malfunctions, specifically primers blowing out and locking the cylinder in place and carbon fouling or other debris getting under the extractor making it impossible to close the cylinder. The GIGN use them because they have a dude with a 416 standing behind them. And three more behind him.

Yeah my dad handed me his revolver at the range once and it jammed up after I fired it once or twice. Granted I think someone handed him so handloads which I think had been reloaded too many times or something. I had it in single action and the trigger was oddly heavy and hard to pull. Then it wouldn't go to the next chamber, and the cylinder release wouldn't work. Resolvers seldom have problems but when they do they are *serious* problems.

So a few notes for everyone regarding a few bits of info. .357 Magnum is not a big round. It is in fact a small round, however, it has a longer cartridge than a .38 Special, and because of that, has more powder behind it, which makes it spicy. My personal experience is having shot a .357 Magnum from my friends inherited Police Revolver. We shot both .357 Magnum and .38 Special. The .357 Magnum was a hell of a lot spicier on the recoil. .38 Special was pleasant to shoot. And just so it is understood, .357 has a larger cartridge than 9mm and far more force behind it, despite them being close in size. Now as for the MP5 and UMP 45. The UMP was specifically designed to replace the MP5. It didn't. That is all.

nope. its a hotter round... its 1/8th of an inch longer than a 38 spc so that you dont load a 357 in your 38. the 38 spc case is not chock full of powder like a 9x19.
@echowolf5638
@echowolf5638 2 жыл бұрын
@@Slava_Ukraini1991, I mean clearly there is a misunderstanding. I at no point said the .38 special was stronger than a .357 Magnum. I literally stated the .357 magnum being hotter than a .38 Special and a 9mm Luger. So I don't no what you're saying nope to but clearly we agree. Also, I said we shot .357 Magnum and .38 Special out of a .357 Magnum police revolver. Which is something you can do because they have a similar sized round. You're right that their cartridge is not the same size.

@@echowolf5638 I perhaps worded that badly. I was trying to say that the drastic difference in power between 38 and 357 is not because of the case length but because of the powder. that extra case length would not give you that much more power.

The 870/590 are both reliable and can be fired just as fast as a semi auto by a trained individual. They are also cheaper than the Benelli's or other semi automatic shotguns by a significant margin. I have personally outshot my buddy with my old Remington with him shooting a Mossberg 930. Not saying it's better because it requires a great deal more skill being able to shoot that fast with a pump but it's not impossible. In case you're wondering I got one shot ahead of him though that one shot could be life or death in certain scenarios

One slightly meta use of the shield is how the game handles it when not in use. Slung on your back. It still works when slung on your back. I've clutched a Port Hokan multiplayer mission because I got ambushed from behind by the last two suspects, and they hit the shield. I am also slightly annoyed that some of the smaller primaries, like the MP-7, can not be used with a shield.

Really interesting to hear his experience/take on the UMP. Don't know why I assumed this but I had generally thought that the UMP was there to basically plug that gap between a 9mm and a full powered rifle round as to avoid the case he cited specifically and yet still somewhat try to mitigate the risk of over pen. Expected it to be quite popular. Interesting to learn it wasn't looked on favourably but I suppose they were quite expensive for what they were. Every day is a school day I guess.
@michaelmaniachanical7918
@michaelmaniachanical7918 10 ай бұрын
The UMP was made by H&K as an attempt to make a lighter & cheaper variant of the MP5. It didn't really catch on, with one of the biggest caveats being that firing the heavier .45 ACP round out of a lighter gun results in more recoil. As for the rounds used, despite what some others will say, .45 ACP & 9mm Parabellum basically have the same impact at any range that matters.

My county police SWAT team uses the UMP .40 as their primary entry weapon, or at least they did as of a few years ago. I personally was not a fan of the one Class III UMP I got my hands on at a range once after having it built up by video games for years. The ergos just weren't all that. In regards to revolvers, they actually have a legitimate niche for the pointman with the shield (slides sometimes get hung up on the rim of a shield and cause malfunctions). LAPD (?) SWAT commissioned the S&W TRR8 and M&P R8 for this role.

Revolvers DO malfunction, and when they do they require a smith. They don't have feeding issues like semi-autos, that doesn't mean that they don't fail or malfunction. There are a lot of little parts that are all required for operation. If any of those break, or if you get too much junk in the mechanism you can cause the gun to bind or to shoot out-of-battery, which is REALLY bad on a revolver.
