Mark Gradoia it’s actually the new Ibanez 1/2 scale chair. It’s just like a full size chair in every way, the quality - but, 1/2 the scale. This allows you to sit much faster and easier than you would in a full scale chair. You can also try alternate chair tunings. I think Paul Gilbert already promoted this?

For some. But music does not have to have parts like a shorus, a verse, pre chorus, bridge and solo. I always liked him for his tone. That liquid metallic 80-90s sound that is pure Satch. Other folks have structure too, they are not Satch. Only as a hobby guitarists I never had a favorite. I do not have to compete virtuosos against each other, they all make me feel equally useless at guitar. Be it folks like Macalpine, Guilbert, Satriani, Vai. Yngwie, Muhammed Suiçmez, Ron Jarzombek, the 20 other ones I do not have time to list, or 10s of thousands I have yet to hear. All equally good at making me sound like trash.

You're one of my all-time favorites Satch. I met you in Las Vegas, I think 98? I want to say it was at the Hard Rock when I first saw you live. I was 16 or 17. Me and my buddy would not give up trying to sneak in through the backdoor to meet you after the show. Security kept throwing us out. We were planning our next attempt and you just walked right out and said something like, "You guys wanted to see me?" Then you hung out with us there in the back alley for at least 15 minutes, giving us tips on various techniques, signing all the stuff we wanted you to sign. Such a long time ago, I'm pushing 40 now but because of you Satch, I actually became quite the accomplished guitar player, winning the talent show my senior in high-school and eventually teaching guitar myself for almost four years in the mid 2000s. I'm a huge fan. Thanks for all the great music all these years.

He got to see the Satriani show, and hang backstage. He says Joe was so regular, and didn't seem egotistical whatsoever. Conversation was about fun stuff. Wasn't like he was stuck with fans, it even went on so long, my supervisor felt like he himself was overstaying his welcome, as it was getting pretty late. @biohazard82952 жыл бұрын
@@stevenjones6780 imo he decides to compose and play from some ideas he has in his head, maybe some random chord strumming helps him but the majority of the idea is generated on an emotional level and he tries to play what he feels is gonna work out. In his most recent interview he said that music is not about rules is just a matter of "cause and effect". A large majority of rock/metal composers write songs using the guitar only and kinda get stuck to the same scale patterns expecially when soloing. Steve Vai talked about this about composing "for the love of god". It started from an idea that he thought and he said he had to work a bit to translate it to the guitar fretboard because it wasnt something he would have improvised or composed using previous licks. I don't know how to explain it better but that is just my feeling.
@stevenjones67802 жыл бұрын
@@biohazard8295 Well said. And yes, I saw that 2 min snippet where he mentions 'cause & effect'. Apparently Jimmy Page once quoted, upon critique of his technical ability, "I deal in emotions". Zeppelin live was certainly less manicured and more experimental than studio. I've benefited as much or more from piano and Jazz theory than just dwelling on "guitar planet". That said, You've gotta love the way the mind, body, and spirit fall on the instrument and what great ideas come directly from that. Eddie Van Halen once said in an interview "Everything I do is an accident, get used to it"...LOL

After finding Cliff Burton and learning first on bass, Joe was the first person that made me go, “Oh wait. I need more strings.” Bought an Ibanez and I’ve been at it for almost 30 years now. So much respect for his work ethic and humility.

Joe is a pure Artist because even if this song is a great technical challenge to play. For me the melody is the first thing I listen...even in the fast parts. This is the différence beetween Joe and the others...Joe uses his magic technic to make music not to make a show empty of emotion. Satch you are unique I love You Mr...😍😍😍😎😎😎 🎼🎵🎶🎸

+Vijae K I was in 6th grade in '88 when I smuggled in a little boombox so I could listen to Surfing with the Alien while in detention alone in an unused office. The principal caught me an took it away. I think once of these dislikes must be from him maybe.

Joe always plays beautiful music, he's hard and soft. My heart can always feel him.😊
when i was abled to play this song aged 16, my guitarteacher send me away with the words "Okay, i thinki we are done with lessons, i can´t teach you more, you are now better than me" Today i´m 29 and having a hard time getting back to my teenage skills!

Joe's only real band was Jeff Campitelli, Stu Hamm and Matt Bisonette. Get those guys back together and the music world would bow down.
@FeelingShred9 жыл бұрын
1969lincolnosiris Matt Bissonette didn't like the touring aspect, catching planes, soundcheck, chill a bit at the hotel room, after concert go to another airport, same thing over and over again, that's why he quit... I don't remember where I read this, I guess it was at Satriani's website a long time ago... Matt is a talented fucker, I was listening to an album called "Jughead" he recorded with his brother on drums and Ty Tabor from King's X, crazy stuff, pop sound with heavy hooks

Can't count the number of times I've seen Joe, only ever with Stu and Jeff. Every time he toured with Mover I missed it. I also saw him with Eric Caudieux on the Engines tour. Never even heard of him touring with Matt. Only real band? Hardly.

+dan gabriel That's impossible to tell, but for sure the passage between 4:13 and 4:24 seems to be diabolically hard to play.

sometimes the easiest parts of satch songs are the tapping solos xD
@Chris7411137 жыл бұрын
He actually is not playing it cleanly. With a cleaner tone, without all the gain, chorus, flange and general "hiss" those sweeps would come out hardly audiable. Would be pfffttt pttff
