Sort of disrespectful to millions upon millions to refer to the Hindu RELIGION as the Hindu MYTHOLOGY, don’t you think? I’m fairly certain you wouldn’t refer to Christianity, Judaism or Islam as mythologies, because they’re faiths that are still actively held by billions. The same respect should extend to Hindu practitioners. Instead of being disrespectful, you should say the Hindu pantheon/tradition/faith/religion etc, thus sidestepping any judgmental insult by labeling an active religion as a mythology.

It is an unnecessary, backhanded insult to one’s faith. If one said the Christian mythology, countless people would be justifiably offended. It’s essentially saying the Christian fairy tale, or in this case, the Hindu fairy tale

Because of the fact that there is no historical evidence or written and recorded dates and time frames about Hindu Gods and Goddesses. Even the Wikipedia page for Ayodhya states the place to be the "hypothesized birthplace of Lord Ram" That's the reason..!!
