So the thing with Gangrel's support: it doesn't state anywhere in the game that Walhart only started his conquest strictly two years after Gangrel's supposed death, what it DOES say is that he's all but finished his conquest of Valm two years after the whole Gangrel conflict. So Chrom only stepped in to help stop Walhart once he started proving to be a legit problem. Thus, Gangrel knowing about Walhart's conquest and worry over it spreading to Plegia and everywhere else is a statement that can stand firm, it's not any kind of retcon like you seem to think it is. XD As for the sympathy thing, I just see it like I see his whole deal with Chrom's father: it's a reason, but not a justification. If he had tried to actually...y'know, talk with the rulers of Ylisse and Regna Ferox and formed a willing alliance against Walhart, nobody's heads would have to be on the floor. Alas, Gangrel is a spiteful, grudge-holding manchild with entirely too much power at his disposal to act maturely about what did turn out to be a legit threat on the horizon. And that's why I love Gangrel: for a game with a "power of friendship" theme, a petty and spiteful jackass purposefully choosing violence over friendship as a first-arc villain works so well IMO.

I’m glad they represented Gangrel’s best side in Heroes, it’s been a bit since I saw his level 40 conversation but from what I remember he’s just the evil bloodlusting maniac from the story we love. Even mentions things like being able to summon heroes is unlimited cannon fodder for any atrocities he wants to commit. And his voice acting is really fun, the insane laughter and insults in his special lines are my favourite. Glad he could get some more screen time in Heroes just being Gangrel

12:50 Given that Virion shows up at the start of the game after fleeing Rosanne, which at this point is being besieged by the Valmese Empire, so at that point in time Walhart was probably in control of most of the continent.

The one thing about these videos is that it has made me reevaluate all the characters I wrote off in Awakening. Successfully gaslit me into liking Gangrel

gangrel was the first awakening character i adored, i remember being so invested on him that when emmeryn died i did not care a lot and was still laughing at his funny lines, he was super good also, i adore the opening of this video and the theme of the great mighty poo playing in the background

Others like Gangrel because he’s an entertaining villain I like Gangrel because his name is a Vampire the Masquerade reference we are not the same

If I can respectfully disagree, no one "deserves" redemption/forgiveness. I don't mean that in a "you do something bad once and you're forever terrible" kind of way. I mean it like in this part here 14:14

The idea of getting to play with the villains is kinda cool(like getting Lyon and valter in fe8)but I don’t feel they should have supports and should just be treated as non cannon additions to the roster.

@@antoniopriego5660 Considering Awakening is all about travelling to the past to change the future with parallel universes I always saw the Spotpass characters as determinant. Meaning if you as the player decide they should live then they do but if not then they don't. It just depends on the player.

Neat vid, i will say Gangrel is def a neat villain as irremediable af; and doesnt get all weird creepo behavior like the rest of his colleagues of irremediable villains (cough Narcian, Valter, cough), he feels like nihilistic but with flying colors Also hey Mirage Gangrel, Barry analysis vid for April fools then?
