It travels quick enough, wouldn’t mind a bit more speed though 🤣. When discharging the hatch covers I usually control sway a lot more neat then when I’m discharging or loading containers.

@@jimmywebb4130 I’ve had hatchcovers that weigh 45 tons. Containers are usually up to about max 37 tons. We do handle twin containers (2x20ft). These can weigh up to 65tons. That’s the max lift capacity of the twin-spreader. The swing is as big as you make it. The weight really doesn’t matter.

We still need them as exactly that. We have a platform on the waterside of the crane. If you look at other videos of mine, you’ll see that they still add or take out those pins. But if we only have 40ft containers that we have to load or discharge out of the hold, they can go inside and relax until we need them again.

Discharging a container whilst there is a straddle under the crane is a sackable offence here in Australia. at 1.48 you can see the straddle . How unsafe do you guys work. ???? Looks like the crane driver is more interested in how many moves per hour rather than the safety of his work mates. I would never work there.

We are required to keep a minimal distance of one lane between the straddle carrier and the crane spreader. Lane 1 is most waterside and lane 5 is most landside. For instance, the straddle is on lane 3, then I am only allowed to go to lane 1. Lane 2 is therefor the bufferzone. It may look dangerous to you, and because you are not use to working this way doesn’t mean it’s unsafe practice. We are not allowed to sway the spreader over the straddle also.
