This is a replication of Art Porters Gap Motor. I have done a mini version as Art's prototype is pretty expensive for garden shed tinkerers to play around with. So, hopefully this is a cheaper and easier version to build that will let me experiment with it at a much lower cost.

Nice work there sire, anyway i'm wondering if i can go solid state version by employing hall ic and mosfet. The hall ic put in front of the coil and initially activated by the permanent magnet south then energizing the coil hence cancelling the magnetic south effect therefore turning of the hall ic and repeat the cycle again. Any thoughts about it? Thanks

Very nice! I see some great application of this system. Great use of 555 chip. Please keep us updates on your improvements.

Good idea. I only followed Art Porter's arraignment. I haven't done much work on this recently mostly because i got caught up in my graphene research.

I love your no rotary option, coil from an old dor bell (ding-dong type) would be perfect for generator coil. But it's not ok to place expensive magnets to repel each other, they will lose power and eventualy demagnetize due the 50% of the magnetic domains pole shift. Neodimiums expected lifetime is about 1000 years while not repelling. Maybe better to configure the permanents in attracting mode and reverse coil to repel.

Hi I am currently trying to achieve magnetic neutralization but am having extreme difficulties I have wrapped the iron core with magnet wire and have put magnets on the iron core but when I power the coil nothing happens and the magnetic field is not neutralized. Can you please help me figure out what is wrong.

You need to over come the magnetic field from the magnets so go higher voltage till you over come the magnetic field created from the magnets........

It does use a maganet - two in fact one in the head and one in the moving arm - just like Art's!!!

...There are a lots of videos here on tube about "BI TOROID TRANSFORMER", guys working on this project are claiming that the transformer has "magnetic flux diode properties" so that back EMF does not influence the promary but it's redirected to the second secondary. If the flux diode works, it could be used to harvest current produced in the coil as the magnet comes back??

i built a version of this that used gravity and a micro switch. as it came down the micro switch would connect the solenoid and fire it back upetc it was great

Unfortunately that was 30 years ago but very easy to replicate . You change the frequency by the spring tention and or the weight !

Robert Murray-Smith sure! Would be great . I used a solenoid from a cassette tape player and a 3 inch nail but you could easily wind your own coil on a sewing machine bobbin!
