Because I binge watched your videos last night, I went to bed couldn’t and kept thinking of the garage shed beside our new home, well we called council today and looks like it’s a go go for us to have another dwelling there and can put in a toilet and bath and also get a building surveyor next week and hopefully gets things going for us since houses marketing here in Australia just going crazy. Forever grateful for your videos. Keep them coming. Would like more content on finances also and more money mortgage hack like this.

Great video! Couple of questions/feedback, if you don't mind and since you asked for ideas- 1) Won't the firewall be compromised by the door between the unit and the main dwelling or is this a fire door too? and 2) going to the extent of applying for a building consent as we know is time consuming and relatively costly- wouldn't it be even better to make the unit completely self contained with it's own small kitchen, separate entrance door and no door between the unit and main dwelling?

Thanks Berit for your questions. I would have liked to make it a completely self contained unit but in that case I would need to proof car parking for min. 2 cars not just one. They also need to be able to independently manoeuvre to leave the car park and that was the reason I didn't pursue the full self contained unit. As a result I don't need a firewall between the two parts of the house. I hope that makes sense? Let me know if you have any more questions...

Will all households use the laundry? If so, is there a privacy wall so that it isn't in the living of the second dwelling? Are both dwellings using the main kitchen?
