that was absolutely stunning. to have such a title revived, played and studied would be a boon not only for the academic communities, but for game developers as well. the trailer really does capture the unreality of dreamscapes imaginatively. totally wowed.

The music sets such a unique atmosphere for this. Instead of just trying to be scary with some generic eerie violin screeches or loud percussion it instead sets a somber, reflective tone which is not only intriguing, but also speaks more to the real nature of the game's horror. It's not about life-or death danger, or abject terror, it's about an inherently tragic existence which in and of itself is the horror. The fear comes from this idea of being confined to a miserable life without hope; and seeing how the characters of the game are already living it, the atmosphere isn't one of immediate horror, but instead of tragic reflection.

I cannot believe I finally found the name of this game again!!! I was a teenager when I first watched this trailer, it has been in the back of my head ever since. I couldn't really remember its title and the tags I would use to look it up were far too common to lead me to it. Somehow I finally found it again today, March 25th. And I see now that March 25th 1999 was it supposed day of release in Japan, what a cool coincidence! Thanks for uploading, this game is a part of my early days on KZbin and now I'm that I'm an adult I'm committed to playing it.

Yeah, I just experienced that too. I looked it up unsuccessfully like a month or so ago after it popped into my mind for the first time in ages, last time I saw anything about it was an article from probably nearly a decade ago. All I remembered was the general imagery and premise, didn't have the name. Turns out the game was rereleased at pretty much the same time I randomly thought of it again, pretty strange. Really nice surprise bumping into it again though, can't wait to try it out
