So many people disliking this video don't realize how much effort it is to put it together and good heart to share it with the rest. Shame. Thank you for this video.

Standing the 2x4's up on the bottom would have been a better idea. It would have been a lot stronger. When you were laying on it, it was sagging big time. Nice project!!

I am going to do something similar but am going to use wire cable attached to the rafters and then the shelf. The shelf will be solidly attached to the wall and only the end will be cable supported so that it will not be unstable. I am going to use the cable because it will be a minimalist way to support the shelf and still work. Also, I have some to use!

Yes! I was searching for a project such as this! It'll definitely be a HUGE help while I continue to look at Woody Hyezmar's plans which I found on his website.

Stongly suggest ties/ hangers, and bolting the bottom crossmembers tot the verticals.. and one section wide enough to fit through in the middle for unstoppale storabilitagizing.

very nice work. Really adds value to a home when storage solutions are done right and look good. A garage should never be drywalled. Too much moisture. All should be built with 3 quarter inch sheathing with the studs indicated IMO.

Thank you SO much for posting. Best video I have seen on do it yourself shelf building in a while. Only thing is maybe you can put a large battery operated clock where we can see ACTUAL REAL time construction. Looked like it took you a good part of the day to complete

Very nice...just what I was looking for and will be easier for me since I have open ceiling. And don't mind those nay sayers thhi is a good design and if they don't like it they don't have to use it and if they don't like the music they can mute it. Thanks to sharing.

Did use angle brackets all around. I went with planks because I like to see what's up there through the gaps.

This project is truly a labor of love. You get my thumbs up. But if it were me, I would rather spend less money on a heavy duty, 1000-lb capacity, commercial metal rack with much easier access and get it over with in an hour or two.

Gave me the idea I needed for my garage storage. I especially like the "wife help". Did you use angle brackets on all the 90°s? Also, any particular reason you used planks and not cut some plywood for the flooring?

How much was spent on materials? Is this worth doing or buying a Safe Rack system for about $200 that weighs significantly less, yet as strong if not stronger, be a better solution?

Haha frame it on the floor then hang it! You don't do much DYING do you! Nice job , I was surprised to see you get up into it. Is the ceiling drywall? If so how did you attach the boards to the drywall and make it that strong? How thick is the drywall also?

@thisismyjunkmailboxforyour9172
@thisismyjunkmailboxforyour9172 10 жыл бұрын
YOU don't do much diy'ing, do you? Something like that doesn't fasten to drywall. The first 15 seconds was using a stud finder and pre-drilling the rafters.
