Garage Therapy Sigma

So the long awaited release of Garage Therapy Sigma hit the street this week and I take advantage of the weather to apply it on the Audi. I also give an update on the performance of GT3 applied 2 months ago. I made a couple of errors in my introduction in as much as I didn't use a multi sprayer with One Wheel shampoo, I used a foamer & I didn't use a foamer for One Car shampoo I used a snow foam lance.

Hi Martin, totally agree about the long term testing. It is far to easy to buy a product, watch another video a week later and think 'Wow, that is so much better'. The wife then goes into the garage and freaks out about the number of car cleaning products that you have only used twice! you have just described my life, I try very hard to keep her out of the workshop but she pops in to mention all the products every time I raise my eyebrows when she gets home from shopping🤣. The result of the Sigma really in fantastic. The Audi looks like new, it has really brought the red out and check out the photo I put on Instagram today on the water beading after rain. Anyway 'Garage Therapy' owe you a few beers as I have Just ordered 6 items from them, not heard of them before I watched your channel....the Porsche is in Guards Red so I'm hoping these products will give it a real deep glossy red colour...the Porsche I'm trading in at Porsche Bolton ( great guys there ) is also in Guards Red, But I had a Gtechnic 5 year Platinum Ceramic coating put on by Approved Gtechnic Porsche installers and have to say costing £900,00 what a Total disappointment !! Rubbish waste of money also the Glass Gtechnic coating Also caused lots of problems with the wipers smearing in the rain, total disaster...going to do all my own from now on, withthe help of your channel of course !! Keep up this brilliant work you are doing...

@@ObsessiveCarDetailer Well as you saw my order arrived, It is so easy to put on I used a MF applicator to spread and buffed with a GT and Rag Company MF. The car looks great and feels great. In comparison to other light coatings, this is my favourite so far. I also like TAC Moonlight and Infinity Wax Synergy but it is double the price and IW had to replace my Synergy Vitality as it was not stable. I have them all on test on friends cars but I will be sticking to GT.

Hi Martin,like you I applied GT ceramic sealant about six to eight weeks ago and am getting similar results on my silver paintwork that you are getting and I am very pleased,a lot less effort needed to get great results. I too am only using GT products on my paintwork so I can accurately monitor the ceramic sealants performance. My only question would be ( if Maz and Rodger read this then their input would be greatly appreciated) ,why don’t I use GT Sigma instead of GT quick detailer as a topper to the ceramic sealant?. As the way I see it GT quick detailer surplus to requirements if GT ceramic sealant is applied!. Or am I looking at this the wrong way?. I am more than happy to be corrected and educated. Also it’s fantastic to see 5L containers of wheel and car shampoo. I cannot rate and recommended Garage Therapy enough,outstanding products,in quality,performance and value.👍🏼

Mr G. All three of these products are part of a system and have very specific use cases. 1. Quick Detailer contains cleaning agents and a lot of lubrication. You will have seen us say it is a true QD. It is a far superior drying aid as it evacuates the water. Sigma on the other hand doesn't perform well as a drying aid depending on how you apply it. The QD is also compatible with almost any surface apart from cloth. Sigma doesn't play aswell on glass for example. 2. Sigma main focus is visual depth, hydrophobics and slickness. Its a longer form of protection and can be layered. It has been designed as a topper to lsp's and ceramic coatings. CS is a base layer of protection or a topper to ceramic coatings. We wouldn't spray CS on top of other sealants or waxes. 3. CS is a base layer of protection or a top coat style product for full fat ceramic coatings. Not as easy to apply as sigma or QD but it lasts much longer. Genuine 5-6 months of protection. Maybe longer when paired with sigma. Between the above three products the advantages of /TWO: Quick Detailer is that it is more of a sheeter. Some people will prefer this especially if they suffer from water spots or have ceramic coatings. I'd use the QD for door jams, under the bonnet or paint types that need that lubrication. Also on well maintained glass it works very well.

Hi Scott, a chemical decon is always going to give you better results but I only move on to a mechanical decon if the car really needs it. If you keep the car clean on a regular basis then Sigma will give you great results. If you are going to give the car a full chemical & mechanical decon then I would recommend two coats of GT 3 ceramic sealant. I would follow that up with Sigma a week later then use GT2 QD after every wash and use Sigma every 3rd or 4th wash. hope that makes sense.

Nice to have some longer term, real world testing. You can always trust GT products to work. This sound a similar product to D&D Si - how do they compare?

Hi Chris, hope you are well. Difficult question and one I was thinking of as I was applying it. As you know, Im a big fan of DDSi, defiantly the game changer in my opinion last year. It's a question that I don't think I can answer as they are very close and it would probably take someone like Jon (Forensic) to give a more educated opinion. What I would say and really appreciate is the fact that Sigma is part of a plan. It is designed to work with & compliment GT3 & GT2 so I look at it as part (although big part) of the solution. This question is going to be asked many times I fear and can only be answered when we see real like longevity from Sigma as we all know what to expect from DDSi. I suspect though that it will divide people for some time and that can only mean it is down to a matter or personal preference. So, longwinded answer but for me at this time, too close to call and that must be great news for GT for them to continue to come up with these great affordable products one after another and less than two years old. Sorry Officer, that is my statement (until I change it)🤣. I hope you have a quite w/end if you are on duty

Hey Martin, my 5l DDsi is coming to an end after nearly 3 years. I've been overall very happy with it and used it as topper, drying and rinseless wash mostly during the summer. It goes well with BSD, Fusso and my current favourite LSP, Ethos Resist. Been looking at GT and was wondering what you'd recommend or if you think I should stick with DDsi? Thanks mate.

My suggestion is you try GT Sigma. Its extremely slick & gloss enhancing. I love them both. Try a 500ml bottle and see what you think. I personally think Sigma edges it but try it and give me your thoughts

Hi Mark, On a black car, absolutely. It has a special darkening effect on it. For interiors we do not recommend Sigma. Our quick detailer is more suited to this.

Hi Mark, the guys from GT beat me to it. Like they say use GT2 on the inside as I tend to do as well as the outside. As for the colour, I can truthfully say Sigma definitely had a darkening effect on the Audi. It was very strange, I was very happy with the result but after a lunch break the car was slider and the colour really came to life and seemed deeper somehow. Difficult to clarify but delighted with it👍

Hi Kinnon, its for use on paint. I suggest you do not put it on glass, I always use a dedicated glass cleaner for that although GT2 quick detailer is also good on glass. Again I wouldn't use it on rubber as you should use a dedicated rubber product although don't worry too much if you get over spray. I was designed for paint and thats what you should use it on . If you have any worries then contact Garage Therapy and they always get back to you. Or if for some reason they don't get back to you (they will) then let me know and I will chase it up for you. Hope thats of help. Just follow the instructions on the side of the bottle and use on paint

I see forensic detail John has just done a review on GT/2 Quick detailer I would of scored it higher than he did And this is what happens I then go and buy the product that one his review And I end up with hundreds of half full bottles but this time I really am sticking with GT products and surfed hd bilt hamber and that’s it 👌👍

Hi Nick, That's very kind of you. In a test like Jon scored which he did it fairly and well, it wouldn't of score well. The main reason for this is that it is being put against products that are not true Quick Detailers and more short term sealants. Also we purposely lower the protection levels of the QD so in a few categories it would never score well. However on the most important category Ease of Use, we came out first. He also said something very important and stressed it, he would always reach for the product based on Ease of Use as that's what a QD is there for after each wash.

Obsessive Car Detailer it’s good to hear that it’s still there. I know the Gold is supposed to be a stronger version, so hopefully it’ll last better. Am interested to know how it responds to be cleaned as I’ve not really seen anyone using chemicals on it and I guess that it’s maybe not a consideration during its normal usage. I’ve just done my carpet type arch liners with some gold but have deliberately avoided putting any chemicals on it as I don’t want to kill the protection.

Was that your filtered water you were rinsing with the hose?

Hi Andy, yes. I rinse the soft top with a hose so just used the hose on the whole car

Why is it when you find a decent brand and decide to stick with it you’re now sponsored by them 🙄, I totally agree with your opening speech about youtubers demonstrating application, it’s what I’ve tried to do with my channel but brands sometimes push for the review to be out there and seem more interested in application demonstrations rather than a review of longevity. But then again longevity is going to be different for everyone depending how often the car is driven, what conditions and how it’s been washed but I think what you do is superb and give updates on 4 or 6 weeks later Keep the great videos coming mate 🙌🏻

Thanks Graeme, I just felt the time had came to set the record straight. Yes I do like some brands but its because they perform not because they decide to send some in the post. Who wants to buy a product because it applies well, you want some value for money. Your comments are very much appreciated, it means a lot coming from someone with your knowledge & experience 👍

Hi Steve. I have to admit, I have had the Audi from almost new (6 months old) & have always kept it in good condition, always worked the detail & most products will look good on it but I am absolutely delighted with this product, I am keen to see what the combo gives me throughout the year.
