Garage Tour | Clear Out the Clutter Challenge

Today we changed up our decluttering space! I needed a break from the basement and Hubby was feeling motivated to clear out the garage! Before the cold weather comes, this is the perfect time to start digging this out! We start out with a Garage Tour so you could see how cluttered the space was! Now this was all Hubby, he decided where to declutter and how much he wants to declutter in this episode!

A good way to think about garages is that - aside from our homes themselves- our vehicles are typically the most expensive possessions we have. Really consider that you're storing your expensive items outside and literal piles of junk & trash inside. Keep that in mind and your garage will never be hoarded again! ^-^

Same! That’s my husband. When I pull him in to help declutter or he decides to on his own I better buckle up because he’s like a rocket and there is no stopping him. 😂 I have no problem declutterring, but in comparison to him you would think I do. 😅

I know for me, having a garage means in the rain and snow, I can park inside and come directly into the house. I don’t take having a garage for granted because living in apartments before did not give me that luxury. It is so important to me to have this space in my life right now. Congrats on decluttering. This is the most satisfying decluttering video I've seen you so yet! I'm so impressed by 1) All the stuff that you and hubbie let go of and 2) That you completed the task all the way through to the end of the garbage/ recycling/ donate or sell piles. I think it would be really good for you and hubbie to JUST do the garage for now until it's tidied up to completion~ I think he's a really good side by side coach to help you build up the next phase of your decluttering muscles. Then, once the garage is actually done to COMPLETION, you'll feel much stronger to just get a move on larger and larger piles to declutter in the basement. It's time. It's really time. You go this! We believe in you! 💜

October 2024. You have a shed and basement, too. Take the extra chairs down the basement, so you can use them in cold weather. 3 of us are in a 2BR apartment. No shed, basement, or garage, extra chairs are in the corners or on our balcony. I just have 3 plants to bring in. Tina, Al's wife

I have to clean my dad’s place who was a level five hoarder and thanks to your videos. I was able to have empathy for him. We barely made a dent in that one day but I think because of your videos as well. I had a drive to get it done. Unfortunately, we were cleaning out because he had passed away, butI hope in someway I can help people in the future while they’re still alive.

Woohoo!! That corner of the garage is awesome now!! I use our garage for temporary storage of things that need to get out of the house - things for donation, things that need to be returned to other families - among other things. I’ve been seeing those things inside your house wanting a place to live, so I’m so excited that you’re in the garage again! Wow, I am loving this video. Big changes already!! One tip for everyone-if ever getting rid of a refrigerator-always remove the door. Even if it’s getting picked up. A child can get locked inside and suffocate. Kind of scary. But super amazing that you got it out of the garage!!!! 😉

That’s only true of vintage refrigerators. You don’t have to worry about it, unless the fridge is over 50 years old at this point.

Great job both of you, as you really did well in opening up the front section of your garage. If you keep going, you will be able to clear it out and organise it in no time at all. It’s nice that you can finally use the doorway again and it is not be hoarded to the extent that the pathway is blocked any more. When you have cleared out a little further, you will be able to stack all the yard sale bins you stored at the side of the house and any left in the basement in the garage, as least temporarily until you complete your October sale. Although, obviously it shouldn’t be their permanent storage place. Ms Heart this garage declutter also helps demonstrate, that should you want to, you are more than capable of decluttering at a faster pace in other areas of your house such as your basement.

Right? But a ton of people have told her to keep sorting at a slow pace, and then also explain why she's choosing to declutter it. She was doing really awesomely in around June, I think. A container of trash doesn't need to be vindicated 🙄 The eye roll is for those who asked for this unbearable, slow pace. I don't bother checking for replies because I'm just disgusted by them as people.

I have 2 goat trails in my garage!😂 Maybe invest in some heavy-duty crates so that hubby can easily catergorise his bits'n'bobs as he is decluttering, so that it will be easy access and stackable on shelves too.

You could set up the yard sale in the garage the night before and then just pull it out onto the driveway in the morning. Would be easy with tables with wheels on the legs but those would take a lot of space to only use them for yard sales.
