Thanks Dan. I know I've said this before but your channel is gold for aspiring musicians. I'm too old now but my son is learning so much (with me) regards to playing and producing.

No-one’s ever too old.... I went on a music examining tour a few years ago, and a candidate came in to do her grade 3 cello. She was 75 if she was a day... I was prepared for the exam to go either way, but she was beyond breath-taking. A low grade but with so much musicality. As with most adult candidates, she engaged me in conversation afterwards, and told me she’d started when she was 68!

Thanks Dan for the awesome info! I'm not sure if this was covered in one of your videos (there's quite a lot! Thank you for all !) but I'd like to share my technique of getting a stereo sound from a mono track. I believe John Lennon used this method in one way or another on tape but here it is for ios GarageBand or any DAW actually.... This example will be for guitar but it can be implemented for vocals as well. First, set the song sections to 'automatic', this will be important later. Next, record a guitar track. Duplicate the track and the region to a second track, so you have two of the same. Now your have two identical tracks. Pan the first track hard left and the second, hard right. Now, pinch all the way out on the screen until 'snap to grid' is off. Once that's done, go back to the beginning and nudge the first or second region (I prefer the second) about 1 or 2 millimeters (very slightly) to the right( that's why the section is set for automatic) then play it back and you will achieve a stereo sound. This is obviously a pseudo delay sound but experiment with it. in the same vein as your good work, I hope this has helped everyone. Cheers!

Ha! Yes- the good old phasing trick... you could go one step further with it and alter the EQ of one side as well. The only issue with all of this would be mono compatibility..

How do I pan a track left and right, right back to left while the song is playing? I want the listener to hear the synth go back and forth while the song is playing.
@DanBakerMusic2 жыл бұрын
The only way you can do it is to automate the volume on L and R so they drop in and out to create panning...

@@DanBakerMusic thanks🤘🏾. How do I do that in the GarageBand app. Do you have a video on how to do that? And is it easy?

I need help. Even though everything is panned in the middle. I’m still only getting audio out of one side on speaker and head phones. What should I do?
