Thanks to you, I just finished replacing the lock actuator on my 01 crv. ****One TIP**** I was able to remove the actuator from the latch without removing the door handle and the rod that is attached to the lever, I've done that by unscrewing the only screw on the actuator through the small hole (maybe half-inch in diameter) in the door itself. And through the same hole, I screwed the new actuator in place. This saved me a lot of work.

I figured out a way to replace actuator without taking whole assembly out of the car. It involved taking the screw off that holds the bottom window rail, and lowering/removing the rail but leaving the window channel in place. The window channel is flexible enough to swing up and out of the way, and now you have enough room to pull the assembly to front of car, just enough to see and remove the single screw holding the actuator in place. Sorry I didn't do a video. Thanks for your video that gives us all a great head start, and confidence to tackle this on our own! Stay Safe!

I just did this, the door lock does not have to be removed. To remove the bars by the door lock, the yellow plastic tab can be unlocked and the spinning tab can be pried loose by a flat screwdriver easily.

Thanks for the video, just did this on mine. Tips: If the circular clip is rusty, you can take off EVERYTHING (including the handle) together if you take the time to slide the handle into the handle hole and pull it all down into the door cavity. You should be able to pull it all out through the biggest hole on the inside. If your actuator phillips screw pattern was rusty like mine, the screws on the OLD actuator housing can be used as a new screw.

@5:45 If you know how it works, the yellow clip can be moved to release the rod. Much easier than removing the C clip.

Great video. Just a couple things. At 5:34, rather then removing the c-clip just flip the yellow plastic holder around and then pull out the rod. Also, at 6:52 if you push the door handle back through the door then you can spin it around to get it off the rod. Pulling it off will just break the plastic clip otherwise.

Thanks for the video I followed the advice in the comments and was able to change it out on the driver side door without completely removing it. I just removed the 3 screws holding the actuator, the 10mm bolt below it and the c clip connecting the rod to the door handle. The small screw on the actuator was longer than I expected and was a little difficult to remove but I got it done in about half an hr. 👍
@MendoncaRicardo3 жыл бұрын
This was very, very helpful. I managed not to remove the door handle (a clip identical to the inside handle). Putting it back it helped to slide the window rail down the rubber without taking it off entirely but enough to pull it forward and put the lock back inside

Undo the 3 screws holding the actuator assembly and the bolt. The c clip you undone from the back of the outside handle I took off and that allowed the whole unit to drop. Undone the screw slid out and put new one in while it was still in the door it allows enough room to get a screw driver in and take it out. Then push it back into place done.

I had to learn how everything worked and to show each mechanism. A lot of people don't have the mechanical experience so I wanted this to describe every single part that they may need to remove to get it swapped out. I'll try your method on my driver door as that actuator is getting really *weak.*

Can you please help me? How do the lock button knobs attach inside the door on Gen 1 CR-V's? (The round knobs on the top of the doors that go in/out and up/down.). I broke the driver side one off and want to buy a new one but the only ones I see are on ebay. Ebay has 1 listing for an OEM tan one that is very used, but I want black new ones. Rockauto has nothing surprisingly. Do they screw in? If so what threading? Ebay has a bunch of carbon fiber ones that look cool and appear to be somewhat stronger, so I am wondering if those will work. They say they're universal, but does not list what cars it will work on. Not quite sure if they'll work. I would greatly appreciate any help you can provide me. If you could give a possible recomendation where to buy new ones would be awesome. I am looking for Black and/or chrome colored. Thank you in advance sir.

I have a 2000 crv, driver side door lock will not respond to key opening it's gives no resistance when inserting the key and trying to turn it just turns, alarm unlock doesn't work either and the rest of the doors don't unlock unless the driver does. Seems the driver lock is the master but I can pull the lock up manually but it will not unlock the rest of the doors. I currently have to open the passenger side with the key which works and reach over and pull up the driver lock. Do you think it's the actuator or something else? Oh and on some super rare occasions when i try to open the door with the key it will work but it's pretty resistant to turn.

@joejunky84276 жыл бұрын
They do. I ended up getting the heavy duty sway bar links on the last time so we'll see how long they last. I don't drive it that much. Common flaw with this car along with the exhaust valves, keep them adjusted every 30, 000 miles. I’ve been having problems finding the Rear Driver side Door lock actuator. But some people are saying that the “Front” one will work on the rear too. Anybody has had this issue?

I'm unsure. I haven't looked for one before.

On my 99 CR-V, the right front passenger door lock wouldn't function from the driver's lock switch. All three other locked worked fine. So I replaced the actuator with one I got at a junk yard, and I first tested it directly from my battery. It worked. I then tested the old one the same way, and it worked also. So I hooked up test wired with a connector I also got at the junkyard, with about 6 inches of wiring on it. I connected it to the last connector on the door (where you plug in the actuator), and I found there is power at that point going to the actuator. But apparently not enough to power the lever on it. Now I am not sure what to do to fix it.

Looks like a huge pain. Thankfully our EFs don't have this problem lol

It was easier than removing the EF door latch thankfully!! But still one of those tedious jobs that's not any fun until it's complete. Lol

@4:30 don’t permanently remove that ugly plastic thing. It also reduces wind noise in the car. My CRV has terrible wind noise but I made sure that plastic was tight and taped up any spots it didn’t cover and the wind noise is 90% gone.

Good video but you really didn’t need to take out the c clip just twist the tab to the left n rod will come lose for the other rod that attache to the door handle leave it on slide the door handle inside the door and pull everything out underneath
