It's required to go obd1, but no added benefit stock. However to make it easier to tune, going obd1 is the way to go. Not many options, if really any remaining at all to tune obd0 ecus.

@@GarageBuiltHondas Ok, so the previous comment (RT Motorsports) saying it's not necessary to change them when converting to OBD1 is incorrect?

I should've phrased it better. Are you familiar with the 2 different types of injectors? One works with a resistor box, the other doesn't. He is correct in his statement, I prefer to use obd1 injectors as you'll then have the clips needed for a wide range of other "upgraded" injectors. What setup are you going to have?

For everyone wanting to do this conversion for the cleanest result. Don’t cut your wires!!!!! You can de-pin every plug and change the plugs over to obd1. Without ruining your harness or having to solder. The only wires that will need to be soldered is the 4 for the new o2 and the 2 for the vtec solenoid and pressure switch and 1 for knock sensor. Single cam motors 92-95 don’t need knock sensors The only time you’ll need to cut wires if you’re doing a dpfi to mpfi on obd0 Automatics can also do the mpfi swap into Efs as well non vtec and vtec A stock d15b2 crx dx bottom end with 1.6l zc non vtec cam slapped into the head converted to mpfi and a pm9 ecu header and short ram will hold its own against a stock crx si. It will pull from it on take off And a d16z6 conversion with auto p28 ecu holds its own as well While autos aren’t the fastest there’s a bit of fun to be had for those who don’t want to drive manual or can’t.

Hello, nice video but I have some little different questions. Im running eg4 (dpfi OBD1 sohc) and I'm planning to put D16A9 (mpfi OBD0 dohc), so i need (want) to chage motor wiring to OBD1, So I need to replace distributer with OBD1 one, replace thermostat with OBD1, use OBD1 injectors, 02 sensor with 4 wire (instead the OBD0 with one wire)? Im planning to use d16z6 motor installation wires and my tranny (because I want to stay with hydro not cable one). Do I need anything else? Do i need to add some wires to my original car installation because dpfi to mpfi? (Car installation is stock from b2 engine, and the motor installation will bi swapped with d16z6 one. Also which ECU i should run? Can i use harness OBD1 to OBD0 ECU? Or i can run some other OBD1 sohc mpfi ECU like from d16z6 or d15b7? Thanks a lot. Greetings from Croatia!
@GarageBuiltHondas6 жыл бұрын
You'll need to first do a dpfi to mpfi conversion and also use the obd1 conversion harnesses. That'll get you set up to running the engine correctly. Easiest option would be to use your existing wiring harness and convert it to be mpfi. Using a harness from an mpfi car will not work unless you use the underdash harness also.

Ones again my dude, You killed it haha! Good shit man! This conversion obviously gives you some power gain but did you notice any? Dyno tune very soon im sure?
@GarageBuiltHondas6 жыл бұрын
Dude, it felt much stronger at the track. The biggest inclination was this part of the track where it's a long straight, I normally would get to like 95mph but I seemed to be hitting close to 100mph which seemed different. I did however than my fastest outing ever! It feels really good!

Garage Built Hondas Haha that's what's up dude. Tune it now and get all the horses out of your bolt ons my dude. Since your obd1 now. With this obd1 conversion you're definitely getting more out of this motor. Tune it with Crome or Neptune.

I can't wait, been talking to RT Motorsports also and may try out a COP setup before tune but after cams. Hoping this motor is pulling hard by the end of the summer!

Yes, I've had them since last summer. Was something I wanted to get in earlier but just have had so many other things I needed to finish. If I wouldn't have swapped shells I probably would have been done already too.

Is there any way you can list all the things you need and will it work on my 89 Ef hatch with a d16y5 with a z6 head?

Just the things in this video. But a different ECU. You'll just add more wires for the vtec and knock sensor.

Possibly. If there is a swift before yours that was obd1.

Hi! I have a big question and I want to know if you can help me. I’m trying to put a d16y8 engine in my wagon but need to know which distributor will fit in it or if I can use a d16y8 distributor changing the pins of the plug from obd2 to a obd1 conector Hope you can help me

No idea. Depends on which obd you want to run and then you can go from there. They make harnesses for all of them.

Would you suggest swapping the actual wiring from the ecu to the engine bay on a civic wagon to obd1
@GarageBuiltHondas6 жыл бұрын
I'd prefer to use the subharness

Garage Built Hondas so my motor still has the engine harness will that plug into my obd0 chassis harness
@GarageBuiltHondas6 жыл бұрын
You need to clarify when asking questions? Are you saying your Z6 still has the harness on it? If yes, then NO, it will not plug into your wagon.

What cc number are obd1 injector, example 270cc?
@johnacura996 жыл бұрын
Integra and civic 240cc
@boostben6 жыл бұрын
240cc. I should also add though, OBD2 came in 190cc and also 240cc. Be careful that you have the 240cc injectors and not the 190cc injectors as the car will be dangerously lean. There's no external markings on them that I know of. I make sure to always throw the 190cc injectors in the trash right away so they're not in my shop

The person I bought the car from did the swap the ECU is unbolted from chassis the swap looks really good some wiring is a little funky under the hood fan is hard wired and most oem wiring is brittle enough that it breaks when moved the car starts and runs fantastic idles perfect and everything when the check engine light comes on it feels like maybe a few horsepower loss but again no lights anywhere except check engine light

@GarageBuiltHondas5 жыл бұрын
Yes. You're car is obd0. You can't use the wiring harness from the Integra without some extensive modification trying to figure out which wire goes where. Not worth it to attempt that.
@michaelscott66692 жыл бұрын
How about (non-vtec engine without knock sensor) OBD-2B to OBD1? been searching for it and still no solid tutorial, i heard that you need a vtec dizzy and rewirings plus the mpfi swap. Can't find a wiring diagram that is noob proof
