@@GarageGearstihl just came out with a speed feed that is similar. Have had problems with my echo speed feeds for a long time. I buy the larger speed feeds and they still manage to knot themselves up occasionally. Been using them for about 8 years and it’s always been an issue. Definitely considering trying the new stihl.

@@MarkNehemiah when you say you buy the larger speed feed - do you mean the 450? I have always used the 400...never an issue on dozens of trimmers...(I install them on most of the trimmers I repair for ppl as well as all my own Echo/Toro Trimmers have them)...I use 0.095 string only. Currently, been using 800' rolls of Shakespeare Ugly Line as I like the built in cutter, easy to see colour, performance and price. I have never had a melting or jamming issue...Like JB says - don't over load your spool - I put in about 12-15' and use it until it ejects out of the head and respool in a matter of seconds...good luck!
@MarkNehemiah
@MarkNehemiah 2 ай бұрын
@@kirkthebeerslinger yes I would have to look and see, but I believe the one I bought this spring is a 450. It only happens occasionally. I am always using the same length (two of my arm spans,) it usually works great, but I am still occasionally getting through 1/2 the spool and it gets to a knotted spot then won’t dispense. That’s only happened a few times this whole season though. 9 times out of ten it works like you said. I am running .095 husqvarna with the stronger center portion. I actually love the Shakespeare ugly line, I used that for years. I trim along several hinder feet of chain link every week though, so that’s how I ended up trying the husqvarna pro line. It does last longer get along the chain link I feel like.
