I have a 2019 Wrangler JLU, and I love it. I had two CJ5s earlier in life but went 20 years without a jeep (well I did have a Grand Cherokee, but it's a car). I got a soft top, but in Alabama, I can take the top-down year-round. In fact, it's down now and the doors off in February. I got a base model, but upgrades came easy. I bought Rubicon wheels and 35" tires for $800 only 30 days old. Rock sliders for $50. LED replacement lights from headlight Revolution ran $300 to replace a $900 option. Auxiliary lights and mounts along with little things for a few hundred. I am about to add bumpers and I'm done. There are so many options for jeeps these days. My 78' Golden Eagle had an 8-track tape player and tube bumpers built in the school shop. Two KC hi-lighters and that's it. I took the back seat out and threw a bean bag chair in the back (for obvious reasons). I love a jeep and will never be without one again!

We are both retired & don't plan to do much rock crawling, except to get to some out of the way fishing sites. For our 30th wedding anniversary, we decided that pearls weren't useful, It is much easier to pull our fishing boat with a 4x4 than a string of pearls! So, we bought our first Jeep, a Sarge Green, 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport, 4 door, 2.0 turbo, the black, 18" stars for the front doors are finally in at the dealership, where they will have them put on, for us, next week. I'm shopping for a pick up truck or the jeep wrangler unlimited and honestly, even though I love the styling of the wrangler, I have a very hard time wrapping my head around the fact it is much more expansive than mid size pick up trucks with less equipment, less towing, less power...

I am getting a jeep this week, I want sport for long distance travel, they said get Sahara? But sahara is more expensive
@GarageGear3 жыл бұрын
I’m not totally sure on the options that come in the interior of the Sahara but I can tell you that the only difference outside is usually color keyed fenders. They may be a few more differences but I’m not sure. If that makes a difference to you then spring for the Sahara. If not, the sport will be a smooth ride for longer distances. Look like you have SPORT S trim. Since you have owned for year, you'd be my mentor now cause I can't find myself what trim I really dig into and what it offers behind that badge. I hunt Wrangler for myself which I still confuse it has so many trims and option to lure me now. I stopped by Jeep/Dodge/Ram dealer asking for help, and now it narrows down into only 2 trims which is WILLY or SAHARA. I extremely sweat out with it now, first time with jeep buyers as well first time ride on my rental 2020 Sahara Wrangler now I get love with it. What I see in person in dealer and what I build my Jeep on phone looks like 80% same option but it still has some in and out stuff I dont like/interested in much. I have 3 concerns that it draws me crazy on couple days so far I can't find the way out yet. First question 1 is about the body color fender flare which SAHARA is standard but not on WILLY, not even offer them for me to pick. Speaking of body color, I just notice that front grilled of WILLY has black plastic cover it while SAHARA just has same color body. I asked dealer they can do whatever I want but the price is not dropped down even they cut it off, it is still same price. Will it worth put down some extra money to make little fancy on WILLY or pick standard SAHARA already has? Second question is what engine should I go for I4 turbocharged or 3.6 V6 VVT? I did go ask around people as Wrangler owner long time they prefer 3.6 V6 than I4T, they said less maintenance ( less needed service ) and has good longevity than I4T. In other hand, I4T they say less gas consuming, very friendly on mileage, but at certain miles it reach I need to go do service for turbo sometimes it fails or not properly it has less power when the time has come. Doesn't matter what engine I pick I still has to go auto transmission, I cant deal with manual, and I know some people love stick shift but I can't. Still headache with those 2 engines what should I pick. And last question about the top. WILLY/SAHARA are standard with soft top and hard-top 3 pieces is optional. Is it really to spend $1.360 for hard top? I dont know how well soft top can handle it. While driving on road I notice people choose hard top alot, it doesn't mean noone likes soft top. Every 10 Wranglers, 8 of them is hard top and 2 is soft one. Does the soft top endure well in bad weather like strong wind, heavy rain or sometime hail cause I live place here mostly is crazy weather like I mentioned, maybe it can be blown off on one day when it is too weak to handle the mother nature? Any thoughts or opinions for me what should I go for? As a noob of Wrangler, I listen every opinions/thoughts from everyone as my advice. I appreciate!!
@GarageGear2 жыл бұрын
Hey Silver, #1 we chose the black plastic fenders because they are easier to clean and maintain with no waxing required! We like the look of them.
@GarageGear2 жыл бұрын
2. Get the 6 cylinder. Turbo charged engines don’t hold up long term.
@GarageGear2 жыл бұрын
3. We have had the hard top on the last Jeep. It was a quieter ride but difficult to remove. We wanted the soft top for ease of removal but the ride is louder. Drove it across the country recently no issues in very strong winds with the top. They designed it to stay locked down tight. Thanks for watching!

i wonder if the rubicon tires affect the noise in driving on the road compared to that tire?? or the tires dont make any differnce when it comes it noise (in case it does).

Hey Jan, my wife test drove the rubicon and said the tires made for a noisy and rougher ride. The rubicon definitely looked cool for sure! Thanks for checking out my channel! 👍
@imnchstruntd3 жыл бұрын
@@GarageGear oh, so the rubicon tires do contribute to the noise. I agree, the rubicons looks cool, but I kinda prefer having your tires or not have the rubi tires due to the fact that it contributes noise for on road, and also, I kinda wanna have the jeep a little bit low key if I dont really plan on going hard off road. I dont really want people expect me to be off roading with rubi tires (just coz it does look cool) when I actually dont 😅
@GarageGear3 жыл бұрын
@@imnchstruntd I know how you feel Jan. Off-roading makes up like 5% or our driving or less. We mainly got it for the drop top! We did put slightly larger tires on it but they are still a smooth ride!

@@GarageGear Went to Arrigo Dodge Jeep in Palm Beach Fl and it was a total waste of time. I knew more about the Jeep Wrangler than the salesman. He didn’t know there are 2 versions of the 3.6, he could find a 2 door, he couldn’t find a 6 speed manual, he didn’t know the feature differences of the Sport S and the 80th anniversary model. I only got to test drive a 4 door 3.6 eToruqe for 2 miles. Not a good experience. Can’t give you any comparisons. Will never go back to this dealer again. PS: The steering was a little vague.

@@halz7 perhaps you could give a call around to some other dealerships. Start by asking to speak with their “most knowledgeable” Jeep representative. Then see what they have in stock. This could save you some time hunting around for the right one.
