I don’t own a jeep, yet these points are basic and some are non-existent. My mom owns a jeep and we rode in it on the highway for about 7 hours. Not once did I feel the outside noise was loud at all, the only rocks I ever heard were the ones hitting the jeep from the cars in front of us. Not once did the Jeep’s steering wheel sway that easily and she’s “never had a problem with the fuel gage”. Maybe my mom just got a once in a lifetime Jeep that rolled off the lot with more insulation, better electronics, a better fit steering wheel and a consistent engine or something. She’s got the 2018 JLU Sahara so maybe that makes a difference 🤷♂️. Most of these “points” from both the video and my arguments seem pretty anecdotal at best. I’d take the video with a mine of salt.

It’s loud, it’s rugged and it’s not for those who have a refined taste like a Mercedes g wagon. This is a bare bones give you the most bank for your buck off road kind of deal. The Jeep isn’t the most spacious vehicle, it’s not the most economical, but boy do they off road well. If you like camping and off roading buy one! If you want to take off the tops and spend endless amounts of money on accessories do it! If your not about this kind of life then look at some other options. If you purchase a Jeep prepare for upgrades! The more accessories you purchase,”larger tires, lift, skid plates, heavy duty bumpers, lockers, axles. The more gas your going to use lowering your mpgs. Just because it's an awesome driving experience, doesn't mean it cannot be a bad daily driver. Daily drivers usually strongly focus on comfort, which includes soft suspension, balanced steering, ergonomic seats, proper engine strength to delivery ample acceleration to vehicle( 2.0 engine on a 4 ton car is rough), and good MPG. All of these things Wrangler does poorly on, and for the most part it's fine. Because the car is meant for off roading, so some of these features are necessary. Some features they don't change because they don't care and they will still sell out their Wranglers every year. With that being said, the car is still fun and awesome to drive and will give you an experience unique to most other cars. And that is what makes people love the car so much when you're tired of the same old boring BS daily driver cars. This car is antithetical to a daily driver by design and on purpose, and that may be it's greatest strength.

I've owned several of these bad boys, the latest of which is a 2020 wrangler. Other things to know: -The wheel play may not be normal in newer Jeeps. The 2018-current models have an aluminum steering box, it's a major cause to the highway 'wandering' you're seeing. Hop over to the dealer and replace it with the "steel" one and the issue should go away. -Jeep also put in electric power steering which is annoying when trying to turn the wheel quickly when parking or doing a 3 point turn. I do hate that. -Soft tops are even louder. Most jeep owners don't mind. -The ride is very rough on crappy roads when the tires are at the recommended psi. You'll get used to it, but your passengers may be surprised. - Deflate tires for sand and off-roading -The stock parts are "cheap" which is a good and a bad thing. -do not use 4wd on dry paved roads. -Your windshield WILL crack. When it does, welcome fren. -Join a jeep club and get ready to upgrade. Happy Jeeping!

Also had a hell of a time fueling it as it kept spitting fuel out of the neck. Apparently the one way check valve fails frequently when used with gas with ethanol. It smelled like gas in the cabin and this is the 2nd time this has happened with another jeep I test drove. Has cool features like the radio controls on the back of the steering wheel and the freedom top is great. Would be very hard though to keep the painted version from getting scratched when removed. @@goldmineadvantage I love the height and road command ability. You can see everything. However, lifted wranglers drive much more rugged than a standard height. When test driving a used one, try to find one closest to the build you are looking to own. That would just give better insight as to how it would actually be. The newer models are much more refined though. You’ll love em. Especially the gladiator’s longer wheel base.

I really like the Jeep Wrangler, especially the body style previous to the current one. A friend of mine has a 2017 Jeep Wrangler, and I like the round amber indicator lights on the sides of the front fenders, the type of round headlights they have, and the option to have a few different style of taillights, some with incandescent lamps, others with L.E.D. lighting. Another serious drawback is that when Jeep Wranglers need their parts replaced, or other major repairs are needed, they get VERY EXPENSIVE. That's why Jeep stands for, "JUST EMPTY EVERY POCKET." No matter how much noise they make, how they handle on public roads, how the fuel economy is inconsistent, how expensive they are, I still dream of having one someday. Jeeps can keep their value longer than most other motor vehicles, hence the reason that even pre owned Jeeps can have a high price tag. This video has GREAT ADVICE on what to expect when driving a Jeep for everyday driving conditions; everyone who is considering getting a Jeep Wrangler should be aware of all the things mentioned in this video, in addition to what I said in this comment. The first time I drove a Jeep Wrangler, a 2017 "Sport", I was very nervous at first since the big tires on it made a low pitched "buzz" noise, the steering was somewhat loose, which it is supposed to be, and the top was taken off since the owner wanted my first driving experience to be a fun one. At first, I wanted race car type seat belts, but once I got used to driving the Jeep, it was not bad at all. Now I know what Jeeps are like to drive. It's always best to drive a vehicle before you buy it, ESPECIALLY A JEEP. I cannot explain what Jeep driving is like, you just have to drive one yourself. I work at a Jeep dealership, and I have driven lots of Jeeps, some as old as 2003, some new 2021 Jeeps, and everywhere in between.

I am a mechanic, a stock Jeep does not get fender rub. An improperly modified Jeep or incorrect tire size will cause rubbing. Or if there is something wrong with the steering. If you don’t believe just go test drive a new Jeep, it does not rub. Wandering on the highway might be a result of the mod done or damage. I do not own a Jeep, but have driven enough of them to know the JL drives fine. If that Jeep is not modded, you should get it checked out. Maybe the fender is bent in? Anyways my point is this video is misleading, I realize it’s your opinion, but any vehicle review will be poor if the vehicle is not in proper operating condition. The mpg “all over the place” I suspect (assuming the computer hasn’t been tampered with) has more to do with driving habits or drastically varying terrain, hills and highway. Yes the computer can easily be tampered with, Jeep owners frequently buy aftermarket devices to access the programming, which is fine, if you know what your doing.

I have a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Whillys Wheeler, which I drive everyday, but also take off road. It drives perfectly fine, never had any problems with it. No steering looseness issues; no wheel rubbing on the fenders; it’s not that noisy; and fuel consumption is actually okay.. I guess it could depend from case to case for some people. It also really depends on the loaded wheels. If you have mud wheels on, you are definitely going to have those issues you mentioned while driving on the road, while if you have “all-terrain wheels” on, you won’t have any of these issues on the road, and your car will still be very capable on most off-road terrains… the only issue I could report is that the ceiling can sometimes be leaky when there is heavy rain, so you need to change the ceiling side-rubbers every now and then as they could dry out… otherwise, I’ve owned several cars in my life, and my Jeep Wrangler is by far the sweetest and most enjoyable so far, both; on the road, and off road.

I traded my 2012 Evo in and Bought a 2021 jeep Wrangler sport 4 door. I plan on making it my overland build. I use my jeep for work all the time im getting 25 to 26 mpg. with it being a 2.0 gas pricing from full to half of a tank I normally spend anywhere from 15-20 pending on deals at the gas stations, better than spending 60 from full to empty with my Mitsu Evo. Ive heard many People say these Jeeps are sooo bad on gas they are right the early models are. i have no issue with mine... i just hate the auto off and start when your braking at a light. it starts rough and its goes off at the wrong time. like merging from the middle lane making a turn or youturn ... anyone looking to buy one has to be ready for a big let down. most dealers carry the higher end models and push you to them so stand your ground also the hopes to have a reasonable priced jeep is almost hard to come by. sports and up all come with soft tops which mine is. to want or need a hard top you either custom order or you have to pay for a model thats one up from the sport that has the 3 part top. dont use the online build and price you will not have a choice whats on the lot unless you build your own which will take for ever! and keep in mind if your stuck with a soft top and wanting a hardtop later it will cost you double than from your msrp sticker price. Jeep dealer ship on your sticker charges a 1200 something like that when aftermarket its like 2500 also be on the look out most of the new 21s ive heard was rushed and their AC coolant was not put in. mine was one of the few that had that issue and I needed a new system due to the valve blowing due to not having AC. My honest Review of my jeep is i love it. the soft top is nicer than the older ones and i have no issue with loud road traffic nor feeling the cold weather. this being my first jeep and being part of the large community here in Tampa. its simply worth it all. from the jeep waves to getting ducked . anyone wanting a new way of life style a jeep is the way to go its unlike any other.

So if you’re looking into buying a wrangler, but aren’t sure, just remember that your tastes and specific vehicle experience will most likely not be the same. If you’re really on the fence, lease or borrow someone’s to drive around for a while. It’s going to be an adjustment for anyone who hasn’t had one, that’s for sure. I just drove one for the first time yesterday and I did notice it was louder than my current vehicle but it didn't seem as loud as people make it seem. I also drive a pretty loud truck for work so I may just be used to the noise which is why it didn't bother me. The responsiveness of the steering and acceleration sold me on it tho. I'm definitely going order one. All that being said I drove either a 22 or 23 model so of logically they get better with time so I'm sure I'd feel the same as some if I drive an earlier model. You should rest drive a new one and see how it feels to you.
@jk-4742 жыл бұрын
You’re better off getting a TJ (model years 97-06), because Fiat bought Chrysler around 06-07, and from 07 on upward they’re not built as tough and rugged as the older Jeeps were. Body panels are thinner and cheaper on 07 and up, engine options aren’t anywhere near as good as the insanely reliable AMC 4.0 Liter inline 6 which the TJ is known for. TJs are still real Jeeps, you never have to worry about any driving condition with them, any terrain etc, but they’re new enough inside where they’re still a comfortable car to drive

I have a 2011 JK two door running 33's with no lift and the 6 speed manual transmission. I daily drive this thing but I'm only traveling 15 miles or so to and from work. Driving on two lane roads I notice the Jeep does like to float a little bit. I have roughly 60k on the odometer and the owner before me installed rough country suspension with a steering stabilizer. Could just be the setup but I still enjoy driving it. The fuel gauge seems to be accurate based on miles travelled to the drive to empty reading. I also get poor gas mileage running the 33 tires. Most of the points you made I agree with. These things are great offroad and good on short trips. I have driven on the highway a few times and my only complaint is that I wish it had more horsepower. I have the 3.8 that only produces 205 HP or so. I have no idea if the gearing in the diff and transfer case has been messed with but I assume so with running bigger tires. My speedo is accurate so I'm going to assume it has. Anyway, great video explaining some of the actual points to be made about Wranglers.
@genevievec.80023 жыл бұрын
All good points. I mean, I still have a Jeep Wrangler that I use as my daily driver, and rarely offroad, but I knew this stuff going in. As a slight counter to these points, reasons why you might like a jeep as your only/primary vehicle (not necessarily the best option though) - All wheel/4wheel drive, great for bad weather conditions Carrying capacity - if you hike or camp, and need something that can bring a few people, and a ton of stuff, but you can't/don't have a trailer, not only does it have a lot of interior storage, but you can get roof racks and stuff for more. And it can tow if needed. High off the ground - big one for me, I'm scared of cars so I hate feeling low compared to others, which is why I personally don't like something closer to a subaru outback. One should note, however, that it's square shape and height does make it prone to being affected by the wind pretty noticeably. Parking - while not the smallest vehicle if you have a 4 door, they are pretty maneuverable and overall easy to park. The height also helps with curbs and other areas, giving you more freedom and ability to park further over curbs if a parking spot is smaller without hitting it.

I have had my first Jeep Wrangler for 2 years now. Some of the noise is be expected with a fiberglass roof. If some of the driving aspects of a Jeep bother your personality. Your looking at the wrong vehicle. I have had no issue with gas tank readings or the streaming response. These Vehicles are build like a real truck, not body on frame. So if you don't mind the way an F250 drives and handles, then you will be fine. This is no glass smooth riding cardiac. Yes I have owned both mentioned vehicles. I'm already considering getting another Jeep Wrangler with 2 more years left on lease. The versatility is great. One minute in NYC and the next, on an open highway heading to the Adirondack Mountains, weather never matters in one of these (within reason).
