You could tell he was tense and maybe a little nervous in the video. He did well. Once he gets a little more time under his belt, and he loosens up and gets into a consistent rhythm he's going to do great!

I'm about to paint my 1st panel this weekend a front bumper, I've watched all your vids, I even have notes in a spiral to refer to if need be. I just wanna say thank you for taking the time to create these vids that TEACH versus just us watching you paint or do body work! Ooh & Good Job D! The best part about mistakes is... they are temporary if you try again!

After seeing Daris prepare for you, it is good to see him doing the 10% of the job, because you know its 90% prep (the sucky part) and 10% painting. Good job Daris, the only way to learn is to fail sometimes.

Im a professional painter and always was a believer in high quality expensive guns as I use all three DV1 guns but recently bought the Porphis prd-715 1.3mm MP for clear to have a faster gun and I absolutely love it. People do not realize how good they really are and it was only $250 compared to my DV1-C with digital guage that was $700. Ended up buying a PHS-155 1.8MM for primers too and its great

I’m glad you made this video, the first time I painted a hood I was so nervous and shaking and I made a mess and rubbed the hose on the hood by accident. And got over spray on the floor and I ended up getting stuck because I put plastic on the floor instead of wetting it. I’m still learning. He did a good job. Thanks again

Fantastic video Chris, please tell Daris I was willing him on to do a good job on his first attempt at clearing a hood and it worked as it came out really nice. I remember when I first started painting I thought this was going to be a piece of cake but I was soon bought down to earth on my first pass and found out it isn't as easy as the pros like Chris makes it look🙄 Please keep training Daris some more with more gun time Chris as he has the ability to be a great painter all you need it more practice behind the gun Daris, looking forward to seeing you do some more clear coating👏👌👍John UK

I have to say this was an excellent teaching video. Thanks for that! Yep. First thing I noticed was the hose. Why? I just did my hood and it has about a 4” drag mark where I laid it in the wet clear coat. Then, what did I do? I sweat right in the middle of it, too! You know what? It doesn’t matter. I left the hose drag mark but the other boo-boos I mostly was able to buff it out…and it will be totally acceptable for what it is (1997 RAV4) and my very first effort. We really appreciate your videos. And, I’m having fun doing it!

Apologies if you’ve already covered this in a different video. But is there a time where I only need to apply clear, and not any base coat? I have a 2007 Chrysler 300 and most of it seems like the paint is fine, it’s just missing the shine. Wasn’t sure how you can tell if it needs a coat of base or not. Love all these videos!! Already repaired a Caddy Escalade bumper watching these. Thank you!

The edge of the fan pattens line of clear is parallel to the horizontal surface of the panel. That's what I was trying to explain. If the egge of the fan is tilted the surface and the edge of clear won't be parallel creating possible an uneven application of clear.
