I have that compressor. I have Raptor Lined my 05 Suburban, and base and cleared my 3rd gen Camaro with no issues. I've had it about 3 years now.

That PRD627 is a monster. Especially if you get it in 1.4. I recently order the 1.3 vs nozzle set just to see. But very happy with the 1.4. GET HIP!!

How long do you have to wait until the clear is completely dry and you can drive the car worry free?

So, I have the HF 10 gallon, with the same PSI/CFM stats. Would it be possible, with one of the HF HVLP guns, to spray my small car? I'm not looking for show quality, just 20 footer, and wouldn't mind taking breaks and it taking a full day. For reference I was debating rattle canning it, a cheap gun with a small compressor would have to be at least better than that right?

Lovely finish from the PRD627 it laid the clearcoat very flat, I find that the split tip guns lay the clear better but the trade off is they are a bit slower, I had the PRD625 on loan for about a month and was very impressed and that was a normal tip so I recon yours must be even better👌 The compressor did a great job seeing as your gun is I think around 10CFM but I think a side would be as much as it would do, anything more and it might start giving you problems but I could be wrong🤔I have a belt drive one with 14.8CFM which is fine for all I do. I made a mistake on the cfm of the 627 with the split tip which is called a vs tip. The air consumption is actually 15cfm. The same gun with the with normal tip is 10.5

Porphis PRD-627 is not MP (medium pressure) spray gun, according to the manufacturer. It is interesting that the manufacturer claims that the air consumption of this paint gun is 15.2 cfm, in contrast to the MP paint gun, whose consumption is about 10.5 cfm, and the compressor did not cause any problems.

This one has the split tip and mp cap so I think that's why the cfm is listed at 10.5 I'll double check to pake sure that's accurate.

Ok, so according to Porphis the 627 vs with the mp cap , the air consumption is listed ar 10.5

One thing about that compressor the drain doesn’t seem to be exactly at the low point. You have to tip it forward a bit to get the water out. It is quiet. Their little 2 gallon in that series is amazingly quiet, and really handy when you just need to put up some base molding or whatever.

@@GarageNoise If I understand the data table on the manufacturer's website correctly, PRD-625 is MP, PRD-626 is HVLP, and PRD-627 is VS type (split nozzle). Either way, it seems they made very good quality paint guns. Thanks for the very interesting video.

If I wanted to get a around a 200 dollar lplv paint gun with a similar size compressor whats most ideal one? Seemed like if you were using this one for an larger section you may have run out if air.

I made a mistake on the air consumption, with the splt tip it's 15cfm. This gun would be better for a small compressor if you got it with the MP tip. Lower air consumption.

How are you getting an exact paint match?

It’s not 100% exact that’s what the purpose of blending is, get it 85-90% close enough using the color code, spectrophotometer etc.. do your spray out cards and blend it to create the illusion it’s the same color and not noticeable to the untrained eye!

Hi Chris, I received my PRD-715 last week. Here is some information on this model. China to Colorado shipping took 7 days! Incredible. Once the spray gun hit the US it went by USPS. Porphis provided a tracking number and I watched the entire trek. They used an internal shipper in and out from China but all legit. This spray gun comes in the PRD-715, 716, and 717 models. They all use the same body. The 715-MP, 716-HVLP and the 717-VS tips/nozzle is what makes them different from each other. If one purchases the PRD-715 it comes with the 1.3 MP nozzle. BUT one can purchase the PRD 717-VS nozzle separately for $119.41. The PRD-715 currently sells for $259.59 add the VS Needle, Split Nozzle and Air cap kit of PRD-717. (Suit for all guns of PRD-71 Series.) for $119.41 for a total of $379.00 + Shipping of around $25. What I've been noticing for sealer and base people are using the PRD-715(MP) then for clear coat they go with the VS (Split Tip) for better atomization. You used the PRD-627 split tip for everything in this video. For the DIY'er does it matter? I'm listening to your advice. THANKS!
