Man, her personality is as strong as her physique. She is so chill and confident due to going to battles on the weights with herself. You must have some strong mental toughness to get to the point she has. She reminds me of the scene from "Soul", when they are doing the thing that they love they get into a trance. We'll I don't know if she loves it but she is just a beast is all I'm saying!

Mirrors are very helpfull to check foot position, if the bar is straight and the weight are fixed. Most importantly in normal gyms to check if someone is standing too close to squat rack.

I'm neither here nor there in terms of using mirrors to see how I move but what I will say is that when it comes to squatting that mirrors help me set up evenly. Since I started weightlifting at my gym with no mirrors as opposed to a commercial gym like I used to before, there's times when I'm not completely in the middle and one side is slightly longer than the other and you can feel that difference when there's weight on the bar so I either have to rerack and fix it or just kind of do a small shuffle of the bar on my back

How would you recommend addressing those imbalances once you identify them from the unilateral work? Extra reps/sets? Or will continued unilateral work address this?

Lunges. Lunges are great. Just focus on getting down there deep, and then start loading weight once you got good form going. Try being gentle when you step forward as well, because lunges can be pretty hard on your knees if you like drop into them. Controlled eccentric like with everything, and you should be fine, or you can do them backwards.
@Ingeb91
@Ingeb91 2 жыл бұрын
You can pistol squat too, that would also help hammer 1 leg at a time.
@BluegillGreg
@BluegillGreg 2 жыл бұрын
Reverse lunges in one spot are a good start, safer for your knees. You can just stay in the same spot, so you don't need as much room as walking lunges. They're good prep for forward lunges or Bulgarian Split Squats.

There's a reason why all gyms have mirrors in them... it's a training tool primarily to check form... however powerlifters and Olympic lifters do not use them because lifting technique is more important than form!

My theory about why one leg seems stronger than the other is basketball. Which hand do you favor, do layups with? That opposite leg will probably have more muscle "intelligence," if not strength.

Pretty much. Your plant leg is always strongest so it’s often the left for most ppl. Has to be the strong base to allow the right to kick, swing, etc
