just bought this optic and put it on my patriot ordinance ar15. it absolutely dominates as far as LPVO's go in its class. I'd definitely recommend it! I should also say I have one from 2021 and this video is from 2017, My reticle is bright as hell!

I know this video is old, but I just bought the vortex 1x6 scope last week and love it. The eye relief at 6x isn't the best, but at 4 and below it looks amazing. Scope is illuminated to if you want to use that. It looks amazing on the gun and functions just as well. Grouped about 5 shots within an inch at about 60 yards, i know thats not the best, but it felt good for a $300 scope.

I've had this Optic for about 5 months now, I love it. Very accurate BDC retical as well. I'm pretty sure mine is the SR-3 retical. Also, and most importantly...it looks cool. And people are always saying, "wow, that's an Eotech" Also I would say you are spot on with this review. It's about time someone with some knowledge did a review on this fine optic.

However, I had some concerns on the usability of the BDC on the SR3 variant and after your comments I may just stick with the uniform SR1.

I recommend looking at the Kahles K16i. Awesome optic. Lighter than the Vortex. Swarovski level glass but more rugged than the Z6. I have the SM1 reticle but the newer 3GR reticle looks good as well.

you get what you pay for I loved my PA 1-6 acss but it crapped out on me and that shook my confidence in the PA 1-6s I was going to upgrade to the FFP model I love the reticles but I'm seriously considering the vudu with the SR-1 or the trijicon credo because as much as I love ACSS I want a higher quality scope

Don’t waste your $...vortex razer is unquestionably the best 1-6 in the price range... the sr1 vudu is a nice reticle, but it’s still not even close to daylight bright...even the 500$ vortex viper 1-6 is 10x brighter...and let’s be realistic about ffp reticles on an lvpo...your not going to be able to see any of the hash marks or drop indicators until your at atleast 4x...ffp is pointless on such a low powered scope.

The illumination on First Focal plane scopes isn't very good on any scope by any manufacturer, at least not yet. Second focal planes reticles are much easier to illuminate. I saw an article with a diagram about it once, but can't remember where I saw it.

I’ve been using a Trijicon AccuPower 1-4 and I’ve been thinking about switching to the Vudu. The only thing that stopped me from doing that was the illumination issue. It gets pretty bright in Alabama so I’ve got to have illumination that’s on par with Vortex’s and Trijicon’s. Maybe I’ll switch in 2018 when EOTech fixes the issue. Awesome review as always sir!

@Garand Thumb : Just got my vudu, partly due to your recommendation. However one thing you don't seem to mention (and which was quite a bad surprise) is that the reticle (at least in the SR1 version) is dramatically bigger than in the regular holographic sight. Which means I cannot use the outside 65moa ring anymore like I did before. Is mine defective or is something you overlooked in your review?

UPDATE: EOtech now has a version on the market with the throw lever in a different spot. Which means you can't grab it easily anymore, making it impossible to switch magnification fast (unless you're left-handed and thus switch magnification with the right hand). Also the reticle is only vaguely visually the same as the EOtech reticle. IOW the ring is not 65moa (but EOtech seems not able to tell what it really is, if I had to guess it is more like 90moa. So in short the vudu does not match the description on the EOtech website. Now fighting with my supplier as I want to return it, but it has been so long "in repair" that the normal return policy does not apply anymore. Thanks for screwing over your customers EOtech.

You're too young to have experienced the real worst MRE, the dehydrated pork patty of years gone by. Today's MREs are worlds apart from the first generation and there's nothing to complain about.
