I just bought one very similar to yours at Canadian Tire and we had a bunch of wet snow last night. It worked perfectly, much easier to shovel snow and the best part is once the shovel is full of snow you just sled it to a dump pile and as such don't have to strain your back lifting the shovel full of snow. Also because you don't have to lift it, its size is pretty big and fits a lot of snow so that makes the job a lot quicker!

Finally used mine that I purchased second hand for 10 bucks, today. Zero strain on the back. Four car driveway. 9 inches of heavy wet snow. No issues. Love and have used the Garant Snow Sleigh Shovel as illustrated technique; one can literally build and mound up massive amounts of snow along ones driveway at least three to five times faster than doing it by using conventional snow shovels; by far the most efficient use of ones muscles to move a potential snow load indeed; the best thing of all is that even the heaviest and most densest moisture laden snow is able to be moved with seemingly no effort at all. Now one can even use two of these Garant Snow Sleigh Shovel and connect them together in dual side by side parallel configuration via wooden dowel rod across the horizontal push handle of both Garant Snow Sleigh Shovels and also using hose clamps to attach to the diagonal riser bar of both Garant Sleigh Shovels; in order so that they are connected together directly; this is done in order to move basically twice the potential snow volume per snow loading/ dumping trip evolution(doing it this way one will be able to move enough actual snow volume to equal very close to a cheap electric snow blower)!!!
@allaboutroofing22 жыл бұрын
I'm always faster than a snow blower, but I have an actual Canadian shovel that is about 6" wider than the one pictured here. They are also twice the price. You were spot on up till the end, a small electric doesn't stand a chance, especially in wet or heavy snow.

When my snow blower died, I used this to remove massive amounts of snow from my driveway. The snow pile I built off the side of my driveway looked about the size of a car and probably weighed close to one. It's amazing to move that much weight in a relatively short time with a plastic sleigh shovel. Using a regular shovel would have destroyed my back.

It's a good shovel, I have their biggest one. But it is rather heavy. Suncast makes two similar shovel. A standard full size and a shorter shovel version Get the standard. It is much lighter than the Garant and moves snow much easier. One tip, don't create a cliff at the edge but more of a slope that rises away from the edge of the drive. Blowing and drifting snow will not Bank up at the edge of the driveway and subsequent snow falls can be slid over the slope instead of having to be pushed up a snow bank.

I have owned two Yooper Scoopers, two Suncast scoops and a True Temper scoop. My favorite is a 4x8 foot plastic panel that I use pretty much like the video. It moves two to four times as much per trip as the others.

Moved to the midwest from the south a few years ago (wife is from here, missed her family). Did the first winter with a regular snow shovel and then the second winter, we just kept getting dumped on day after day for weeks. Finally broke down and got a snowblower. 30+ minutes in the morning and 30+ minutes getting home after work for a driveway that's only 30 feet long was ridiculous. Now I'm done in 5 minutes twice a day on the worst snow days. if you can afford a snow blower, even a single stage, I highly recommend it over relying on a shovel or whatever.
@samsen3965 Жыл бұрын
On my way to buy one of these. So fed up with crazy city power that makes a huge ridge right at my driveway with even 2 feet of snow so non of my snow blowers nor a regular snow truck can clear it and Bobcat owners know how to charge you (Can't blame them leaving the machine useless for 8-9 months a year). This thing seems really good for that heavy icy wet ridge at the property, main road junction, and the rest.

Thanks for making this video, Matt! (Or should I say _younger Matt...?)_ 😇 I have a question: My sleigh shovel *broke* last evening. I was occasionally tipping it left and right to dump snow, and the two plastic ring areas at the top of the shovel snapped off. So, instead of there being two 2"-long supportive tubes at the top of the shovel to hold the metal handle tubes, there are two broken-plastic stubs. We tried epoxying it back together, but that didn't hold. It seems to work okay just to push the handle bars down a little further -- although there is a slight piston-like motion there when I'm pulling or pushing with the handle. I may try jamming something in there with the metal tubes, like tin foil or cardboard to help them stay put. *Does you have any experience (or suggestions) regarding this kind of repair?*

Nothing against this video, and I know a lot of people love this 'snow sleigh'. I bought one with high hopes based on all the positive reviews, and used it for several years, exactly as he demonstrates. Bottom line: I came not to really like it that well. It's extremely large and after deep and/or wet snows, the bucket often fills up with a load too heavy to easily move farther along. Therefore you have to get it to the side of the driveway to dump it, which is not an effortless procedure. Also, for any 'precision' shoveling (tighter spots), it is quite unwieldy. Just my two cents. I have now found my ideal shovel combo.
