When I was a little kid in the 3rd grade for Christmas me and my brother got a PS2 for Christmas. Me and him each got our own game and I got Digimon World 3 as my first game on it, I have such good and special memories playing Digimon World 3. I rarely beat RPG games, but with Digimon World 3 I really put in the effort and beat it. I loved the music, the areas were pretty and the sprites were very cute. Digimon World 3 is such an under rated game that all Digimon fans should try and experience. I never knew about your channel until now. Also wish you could save wherever, getting lost in the tunnels with Digmon and not being able to save for hours while fighting countless Drimogemon wasn't fun. I did enjoy the card game though. That said, I love the design of Persiamon, Zanbamon, Gryphonmon and Pharaohmon, which feature in the game. I hated having to make the digimon go to the toilet, get medicine, and eat a lot. I'm glad the third digimon world focused more on the battles and the digivolving more so than the crappy training of the first game. I hated getting lower tier digimon from accidentally having a digimon die. It seems though that digimon world 3 did have some good improvements.

But I never finished the game, I came close though, but I stop poured for grinding for 100%. It was moderatly succesful, so succesful that 15 Digimon games were released on it. 15 god damn Digimon games. Some card-battling games, some fighting games and ofcourse RPGs. And at least the first one, Digimon Adventure: Anode Tamer, came in English. So, if you ever run out of localized and fan translated Digimon games, there is always the Wonderswan. It actually got quite a few license games, like Dragonabll, Hunter x Hunter, Shaman King, Inuyasha and One Piece. Even Square supported it with a few FF ports and entirely original games. PS: Jade Cocoon is a cool monster collecting/raising game on the PS1. A Ghibli artist worked on it.

Walking through the map is fine and i don't mind wasting time talking to all NPC. It's the combat system that makes me bored with this game... I end up buying a special joystick that can press X rapidly just by holding that button, so my digimon can attack automatically... I'm just glad this game is not as sucks as digimon 2 You should make a review for Digimon rumble arena tho, my most enjoyable digimon game on ps1
@Caspicum9 жыл бұрын
Egan Wibowo Yeah, there aren't that many NPCs in the game, so talking to them isn't a bit deal. You're right in that it's definitely the combat which burns most of your time. I definitely should've invested in an auto-fire A controller. That's a fuckin good idea. As for Rumble Arena, my friend has done the second one, which I'll link here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJ-Wep6lapyGoKs I'll probably return to Digman at some point, but I'm not sure about continuing the "World" series.

I feel like the blue squares were added for that sense of "Virtual Reality" Immersion. Since it plays a huge part in the so-called story. They could of done it waaay better, but I think it worked out all right. I am glad that you are honest in your reviews, it helps me notice the flaws that I didn't, back when I was younger.

Never got through this game as a kid. My PS1 was getting old and couldn't handle the loading, and if that wasn't enough the disc broke or something because it kept soft locking or memory leaking on my PS2. I tried years later on an emulator with a gaming PC no less and even that lagged like all hell and refused to load the blue squares.

@KichiMiangra5 жыл бұрын
My relationship to this game is an odd one. I loved it as a kid but admittedly never got very far. As an adult by the time I DID get far I found myself frustrated by the amount of backtracking the game used combined with the random encounters and... honestly found the story lacking. To be fair, I come to Digimon for what World 1 was: V-pet sim adventure, Not an RPG. If I want an RPG there are plenty out there like Final Fantasy I could pick up and play. To be fair there's a lot that I like about this game though. I think the world is well put together and really feels 'Digimon' in a lot of places, Sometimes even more so than it's return to form Digimon World Next Order did! (I loved next order.) I am gaga for good sprite work and although the humans are just okay the Digimon look fabulous! As a kid I enjoyed the 3d battles but as an adult they're somewhat unnecessary to me. The music is amazing. So basically I just agree with your video in a lot of points. So here's my easy walkthrough for the game: That part at the Beginning when Junior can't decide what Digimon pack he wants and Teddy says "Just pick the pack with a Digimon you like and roll with it"? Literally do just that. Except Legit only use one Digimon. Just the one. I have beaten this game where I've only had Monmon and it's evos in combat eating all that precious exp and only in a select few places needed to grind. BOOM> One-shot everything. Also the Crest of Sincerity they tell you to go looking for? Translation error and a pain for anyone who grew up with the show. They meant the Crest of reliability.

This is probably the best Digimon game I've ever played. Personally, I still find it holds up now a days, especially when compared to games like cyber sleuth. Cyber sleuth to me, (albeit fun) is a poor recreation of the mechanics from world 3, with nicer graphics, but less content. The grinding is more prevalent in DW3, but the pay off I think is a lot more rewarding in the end. This game is only genuinely confusing when playing as a child, which I'm sure was the intended audience, but not so much a problem through later years. All in all, I'd give this game a 8/10. It's a ps1 game that holds up in 2020, that's saying a lot in my opinion.

The training segments success rate was drastically increased with button mashing at specific speeds, which increase for each round. My mate from primary school told me this when we played this at the time. Interesting fact- the blue panels are solely asthetic!!! As a kid I had a disc of this game that I had taken less than stellar care of and certain areas would fail to remove the blue squares and it was a 50/50 with each random encounter whether the game would crash completely in those areas. However, you could fully traverse them and make it through if you didn't proc a random encounter and I learned to navigate the Plug Cape and Suzaku city blind because of this 😅😅

How to play this game: 1. Get bored quickly of the MMO story. 2. Get confused that this isn't a gameplay sequel to either of the first two games. 3. Get frustrated that you have a party of three digimon but can only battle 1 at a time. 4. Get further frustrated that your digimon goes back to rookie all the time. 5. Get further further frustrated that your party isn't the digimon you wanted and you're stuck with a monkey or some shit. 6. Get more lost and confused trying to follow a guide to find the digimon you want or to advance the plot. 7. Give up and play the card game.

It's the only one in the series that I actually like playing. It's not perfect, in fact the combat is laughably shallow (even Pokemon has more depth), but it's fun to unlock new digivolutions. On that note, you forgot to mention that you have to have certain stat requirements (rather obscure ones, too) in order to unlock digivolutions. Depending on the rookie you're using, those requirements can be easy or hard. I just cheat, though, because while I enjoy the game and the variety of digivolutions, I'm not interested in grinding forever. One day I may beat this game, although it can be a bit of a slog. The random battles make it worse. Sometimes you just want to get from point A to point B without fighting a hundred random digimon along the way. Worse yet, you really need a guide at certain points unless you're the most observant, thorough and determined person in the world.
@Caspicum6 жыл бұрын
I thought Digimon were unlocked solely at set levels! This is news to me!
@Lucifronz6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'm fairly certain there are some that, no matter the rookie, can only be unlocked after training specific stats to a certain point. Veemon requires some dark resistance to be trained before he can become Beelzemon, for example (one of my personal favorites) along his chain. Some of the best ones are only unlocked that way. Leveling only gets you like four different types at most, I believe, except for Veemon, who I think only gets three. If you ever feel like it, check out a guide for each unlock and see some of the cool forms you can get. Great videos, by the way. No one really talks about these games anymore, but despite their flaws (which are glaring in many cases), they have a bit of charm to them.
@kiranosNT6 жыл бұрын
If I remember well, set level only give you the standard line digivolution, like for agumon you get greymon, metalgreymon, and wargreymon by set level, and all the other need requirement. The grinding is real tough and while i finished the game, I wouldn't have lasted if it wasn't for playing it on emul and speeding up everything
@Lucifronz6 жыл бұрын
+Kiranos No doubt. I cheat nearly every time I play. Too much grinding otherwise.
@rainingoogle43626 жыл бұрын
+Casp yes! iirc for example (correct me if I got this wrong) the normal ones are: Agumon Level 5 > Greymon. Agumon Lvl 20 > Metal Greymon. Agumon lvl 40 > War Greymon if lvl 50 Greymon has a Dark of 130 (or higher?) he will turn into Skull Greymon then Skull Greymon lvl 99 to Black War Greymon.
@constipation46502 жыл бұрын
I just finished the game few days ago, and yeah I can agree with majority of the issues the game have. Especially in its later half after accessing Ametarasu Server. Constant backtracking and running across the entire map is not a fun experience. What I also noticed, the game seem to fail at explaining things, there are obscure mechanics that the game never really explains it well and I had to actually open Google and check about them. Like Wisdom and Spirit affecting combat, Curse stats and curing them, Which element is weaker/stronger against, the tiresome grind and fetch quest Duel Island and the most obnoxious fetch/hide and seek quest is getting all legendary weapons to battle the 4 boss fights aftrer killing the final boss. Then you have Kurt, without a doubt the hardest challange the game has and the most annoying.

I liked the death system in DW1 because you were constantly getting to experiment with new Digimon while you continued collecting new digimon for your town. (besides all the grinding)

Besides the Card game The only things you forgot to mention...Compared to the other games, you have practically an infinite inventory, with stackable items up to 99 [No matter the item]. And thoose, god....damn....Knightmons when you first enter the alternate server's Asuka city [starting city] xD a fight you can only Game Over at if you go to that city too soon. And leveling is tedius if you wanna get evolutions, as you practically need to level up every single evolution you get per digimon, even if its the same one. But a pretty enjoyable game imo. I hope if they ever come back on PS4 or so, they fix some of thoose flaws.
