Girrll!! Bring those cabbage to Alabama. We eat the fire out of them down here in the south. Lol! I make a dish in the Crock Pot. Chopped cabbage, sautéed smoked sausage, chopped potatoes, beef broth, a little salt, and pepper. Cook on high until cabbage and potatoes are done. It's so good. Serve with pinto beans and corn bread. Great video! - tammy⚘️⚘️

Love the garden! Little Mountain Ranch cans a slaw with her cabbage, maybe something to try?

Freeze cabbage or dehydrate or freeze dry. I like to dehydrate it. I don’t care for it raw. I like to put it in soups come winter. Butter beans with ham or kielbasa or hotdogs with cabbage is my favorite. Any soup. Veggie soup. Freeze it then boil it with ham and potatoes. Veggies and broth with meat optional is always a good combo. Veggie soup for lunches is good. Garden looks good! 🧡💚❤️🩷💙🦋🦋🦋

We used to buy two five gallon can of milk from a local farmer every week. Had five growing boys aged 10-16 and wow they went through milk!

I’m freezing my cabbage this year. Cut into quarters without coring. Blanch for 3 minutes. Cool in ice water. Flash freeze on a cookie sheet and then put into freezer bags or food saver.

Shred the cabbage and pack the sterile jars full, up to the neck, leaving 1 inch of head space. Use a wooden spoon to reallly pack the jars. Add to each jar 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon canning salt, and 1 teaspoon of vinegar. Fill each jar with boiling water up to the neck. could be used in soups and casseroles

I was just wondering the other day if you would do a garden tour or take us along with any canning! I love that kind of thing and I am unable myself!

Cabbage lasts for months in the fridge. My potatoes did really well this year. I just saw a vine borer today flying by one of my squash. I tried to squash it but it flew away. I dusted the stems of my squash so hopefully that helps.

I have preserved cabbage by freezing it in Ziploc bags. I boil it when I am ready to eat it - works out great for me. I suggest you try a head and see what you think

I don’t know if planting later helps with squash bugs but it helps with squash vine borers. I always plant in July now and they do very well but we still have squash bugs and their eggs to deal with. Try making freezer slaw. If you go on line you can find recipes for freezer slaw.

Hi.🌿 If you have a root cellar, then you store cabbage there as well as other root vegetables. Don't have a root cellar. Maybe you can buy a used refrigerator in which you can store root vegetables. 🥔🥕🥦all winter. Take care, Birgitta 🥰

I’ve never had any luck with brassicas. Those heads look great! I just chopped down mine with no head development, straight to the compost.

I’m not a gardener but my mom’s tomatoes and cucumbers are thriving. Have you ever thought of planting a three sisters garden?

I generally don't plant sweet corn. We have access to several farms close by that sell it cheap.

I shred my cabbage and freeze it and then use them either soup or stirfries or just sautéed applications. I enjoy it that way just fill a Ziploc baggie gallon size with shredded cabbage and you’re good to go.

One garden is close enough for the hose to reach. The other I haul buckets out.
