I love your garden. First timer here. So beautiful and natural. You did an awesome job. You are so correct about Larkspur. I am 62 years old zone 5B and admired a neighbors 4 blocks away last late May. She gave me seeds last summer and I threw them in a garden spot last Fall. They are sooo beautiful now early June. Easiest seeds I ever sowed. TY for the tour. I sure enjoyed it.

I just accidentally removed a comment I meant to reply to on the Bells of Ireland! So sorry about that. Yes, I believe you're right it is a fungus - Cercospora Leaf Blight: Small flecks which develop a yellowish halo appear on the leaves and turn brown and coalesce. They can cause the leaves to wither and die. Burpee Recommends: Remove infected plants and destroy all plant debris

Thank you for sharing Trav! Can i please ask - did their blooms always face down? One just bloomed and the neck is very weak. I'm wondering if this is normal and if I'll have to wire up the stem. I would be thankful for your thoughts!

Love your videos. You have a wonderful cutting flower farm with a beautiful spirit that draws my interest to watch you regularly. I just started gardening this year after my early retirement from the crazy corporate world. So glad to find my passion in gardening. It not only creates a beautiful environment for everyone to enjoy, it is truly soothing for the soul. Thank God for His amazing creation. I want to try to plant some flowers from seeds next year. I wonder where you get your seeds. Would you please share the link if you could? Thank you and happy gardening!

I have been seeing lots of Larkspur😁 did not know that you seed in the fall for spring blooms. I didn't know that you could seed anything in the fall without it dying by spring🤔 do you have to mulch it? Or seed it in any special way? Thanks for the informative video. Your yard is beautiful 😊

I had that same look that you have on your bells of Ireland on my hollyhocks. It was so weird because nothing else was affected, and I got ZERO flowers on it despite an abundant leaf development. Weird!

I find the concept of hardy annuals so confusing. If you plant them out in the fall, does that not make them a biennual? Here in Western Europe, foxgloves and larkspurs are definitely considered biennuals. Great tour though!

Can I direct sow all of my hardy annual seeds in the fall in my zone 4b, or is this only for warmer zones?

Hi Thanks so much for sharing this cool idea! I have a question about animal control. What way do you use to deter rabbit? It is a big problem in my area. Thanks!

Hi Lei! I feel your pain! I have three cats which helps a bit. I've noticed they seem to favor different varieties over others. For instance - they like jade sunflowers, but not evening sun. It's trial and error. I do think growing in boxes if you are able helps. I will also net things until they get well established if it's a crop they really love.

Thanks Danielle! That is very helpful!

I just show my sweet peas straight into the soil but I live in a temperate climate so maybe that's the difference
@susankahn72193 жыл бұрын
Are you saying you plant the seeds directly in the ground in winter and they just come up when ready?
@louisv90173 жыл бұрын
I know that sweet peas require full sun but cool roots, but do you know if they can handle full afternoon sun or will it cause issues? Unfortunately, the lay of my property is either full afternoon sun or all shade, so I'm trying to find good placement for my sweet peas.

Once again, a BEAUTIFUL GARDEN! And Thank You for sharing it ♡ I just love that you grow a cut flower garden! My daughter wants to start growing cut flowers, and I have a question about the Love In The Mist you may be able to answer for us. We live in Texas, I live in Central Tx., and my daughter is in zone 7a, near Dallas. And for some reason I am thinking the Love In The Mist will NOT like to grow here in Tx. But I have never tried, only bcuz I only have shade. And now that my daughter is interested, I want her to try it. So, I cannot remember exactly WHY I am thinking it won't grow here, except maybe the humidity? For some reason I have it classified in my head as a Northern flower!! But really, who knows!!! Have you ever heard anything like that? Or know any reason why it would not do well here?
@NorthlawnFlowerFarm4 жыл бұрын
Hello! I did a little research and knowing some farmers in VA zone 7a, I think your daughter should have success with a fall or early winter planting. It's true that Nigella does not like the heat - that may be what you are thinking :) As long as you plant it to bloom in spring you should be good!
@lisawalters54824 жыл бұрын
gardengatesopen I’m in Central Texas too! Waco to be exact. Where are you located. Nice to meet a fellow Texas gardener. Your question interested me due to our heat. Nothing looks good in the daily heat. Lol. Happy gardening. 👏🏻💕👏🏻

Did you direct seed six weeks before fall frost or did you plant starts that you began in seedling trays?

I have so many questions! :) One flower I really want to grow is sweet peas. I tried two times, with no success. When do you start them? Do you direct seed them ?
@NorthlawnFlowerFarm3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! I started them about 2 weeks ago here in 6b. I soak them for 1 hour in lukewarm water then plant in cells. I use bottom heat. Once the seedling emerges immediately move to under lights. Plant out 6 weeks before the last frost after hardening off.
