My husband and I have been married 47 years ago Monday and had our first of 3 kids 44 years ago. That year we bought a Christmas tree lighted with red lights and decorated from a Christmas store. That tree has never been taken apart, decorations and all. We cover it and store it in a closet and add decorations as we have gotten them. Almost all the lights are still working and new only added as needed. Same tree 44 years and such memories attached! Everytime we put it out , our memories of our three kids and their Christmases fill our hearts especially of our son that was killed in a car crash at 15.

Garden Answer Word of the Day: Cachepot. I had never in all my life heard that word until this video. I looked up "Cash Pot," that didn't lead where I needed to go. Then it clicked, "cache pot" and that got me to "cachepot." I turn 50 today and y'all taught me that old dogs can learn new tricks! 😂 Am I the only one? Also, I always love the Christmas decor store tour!! Amazing!

Glass Angel…that’s our code word for look out. Twenty years ago while wandering the Christmas displays at Marshall Fields my daughter brushed by a chair that was filled with angels (with China and glass heads). One slid off and cracked on the floor. The salespeople were so nice (it really was an accident waiting to happen), my daughter was devastated. But from then on all I had to say was “glass Angel” and she would freeze, back off and stop touching. We laugh about it now as she tends to say it to me as I trip along on clumsy feet.

This fall out family picked up over a thousand pounds of black walnuts this fall. We had 5-6 of the "nut picker uppers" this fall. We had to do it several different times as the wind would bring them down after we had just cleaned them up. One evening we even had a hotdog roast afterwards. We had kids form 2 to Great Grandma at 85 picking up walnuts! We took most of them to a business that buys unhulled black walnuts. Great Grandma Etta spends time picking out some walnuts meats in the fall and winter. She gives them as gifts and sells them. Black walnuts grow very well here in Northeast Kansas!

Laura, you offer us all such great advice! Loving your Christmas videos this week! I have a trick for you and LOUD toys (Gnome) - Put a piece of clear tape over the speaker! Works like a charm!!! If it is still too loud, place another piece.... the speaker is usually in the plastic part of the toy. We did it for fire engines, dolls, ambulances etc. Enjoy!

Every year I look forward to the Andrew's holiday tour. This year I was there with you. I began watching, as I always do in the morning. You were showing the copper basket with the deer handles and I was transported to the garden center with you, your mom and Monica in a dream. I made a little mess with some cards. Love this tour EVERY YEAR! So, Laura… Stromanthe is a Beautiful plant we plant 5:13 OUTSIDE here in the Lowcountry of SC. It thrives in part sun. Zone 8b. My very favorite is Tricolor Stromanthe.
