It's funny that you don't really like the fireplace stone, but the pumpkins you chose and love blend and coordinate with the stone. 😂 as humans, we are funny like that. I understand because I love print clothes on other people, but for me, I pick solid colors. I believe the solid color pick comes from being a nurse for 28 years and wearing solid color scrubs daily. Have a Blessed week.

Codlingmoth you need to set traps....that's what most growers use. My parents, in Germany, we only painted the trunk, top to bottom, with Kaolin, it plugs up the cracks in the bark to keep the moths from hiding and they 're deterred to. The traps (sticky red spheres) will attract the coddling moth and apple maggots and they stick to it and die. The pheromone traps attract the males so they get confused and never find the females. Here in MN that's what many use.
@1lookandyouaremy Жыл бұрын
Horticulturist here! You could use traps with pheromones, and even if you spray just once at the beginning of their life cycle it drastically reduces their number

I would STRONGLY advise caution in using pheromone traps. They will draw moths from miles!!!! ( I discovered this by using pheromone traps). You will feel like you are successful because moths are trapped but the number that you have drawn to your garden still allows for reproduction.

Lovely lovely lovely. If you happen to have a kitchen aid mixer, you can get the attachments to do applesauce with it. It saves you peeling and coring the apples. Simply remove wormy parts and whack in half, cook down and then place into the hopper on the kitchen aid. It removes the stem, skins and seeds for you out one side and shoots applesauce directly into the bowl so you don't have to blend it either. It's the easiest way to make it. One bowl of applesauce for you and the scraps for your chickens when all is said and done.

You could easily use a white wash or, even better, a concrete stain to change your fireplace stone. It is a nice structure. I've used both. A white wash to transform a very similar fireplace and mixed varying amounts of white and charcoal stain applied carefully to individual bricks on stone pillars. Two of my easier and cheaper projects that really made a huge difference.

Less loss of apples and much quicker and a beautiful color from the peel. Don’t peel. Use foley food mill. My dad told me 50 years ago that the foley was allowed to have the steel during ww2 because it helped produce more food. I have a 50 year old one and it still works.
