Thanks for the winter tour, it’s looking so much more mature! Embrace the bronze boxwood, they are still beautiful in structure and will be better once they get bigger. I look at it as a seasonal change, the plant doing what it needs to do to survive your winters. Then, something to look forward to “greening up” again. As I get older, I find myself more able to view the imperfections and seasonal changes in my garden as part of what makes it alive and a little out of my control. You are creating beautiful memories for your family and viewers in this place of constant change and wonder! I thank you and your team for each little bit of my day I spend there in your garden. You always inspire!

Laura, I have to admit it makes me feel better about my own gardening when you have to move things because you realize they are not in the right spot. I have moved most things in my garden once, if not twice, because they got too big, stayed too small, too sunny, too shady, etc. Now I don't feel bad that I initially put something in the wrong spot because I think, even Laura does that!

Laura, you are always thinking about each space in your garden, imagining possibilities, looking forward to when plants emerge from winter, and waiting for things to mature. I like that you give yourself permission to move plants if a new position will fit your design better. You teach that plants are more resilient than we think.

Swoops in the Formal Flower Garden sounds fun, Laura! I'd LOVE to see that! And if it doesn't live up to your expectations, you can always return to rows again. You are the first gardener that I heard say, "If you don't love where a plant is, move it." That was an epiphany to me! No longer were my perennials and shrubs cemented in place. It opened my gardening eyes to new possibilities and I thank you for nearly a decade of newfound freedom!

As a designer I can't help but think about your quadrants in the quadrants. I think it would be interesting to do the opposite to a circle in the center, but round the edges of the converging quadrants so that you have a star pattern. Think cathedral window quilt pattern. Might be interesting but like you I would have to map it out on the ground.

I have a thought (it happens now and then lol😏) involving Melad Tree Farm. Instead of raised beds near the fireplace/kitchen door area, couldn't you go to your favorite big tree guy and get something mature to put in there? Then it would stay a cozy, shaded area? And you could choose the tree you really want, instead of going with what was there.😊💚

You always left a lot of space for annuals in the back kitchen bed… why don’t you replace those shade loving foliage annuals with things like basil, other herbs and peppers? That still leaves room for flowers but also adds in some practicality.

Laura, I’ve seen your previous highlight question and answer videos about dealing with gnats during seed starting. I took a suggestion and it has eradicated all my pest problems - I pour boiling water into my seed starting mix, just enough to start seeds with. I let it cool and then continue the process as normal. This has really helped and the best part is that it’s free. You don’t lose anything by trying. Good luck to you and can’t wait to see what you do in the garden this year!

For your pasture, it's a great idea to include a couple of trees for some nice shade. I recommend planting them well in advance of introducing any animals so they can get established and flourish before the animals arrive. Just a heads up-larger animals like cows, horses, donkeys, and llamas tend to scratch against and nibble on the plants.
