It's our cool season here .. and this is the only time of the year when we get a little relief from the wind.... Sorry that you have to endure that ... But winter time here in Cape Town south africa is my favourite time to plant stuff .. everything grows... Weather is cool but not cold.

I felt so sentimental watch you plant dalhias. I am 71. As a child,my grandmother had a huge Dalhia garden. We always had bouquets in the house, along with sweetpeas. I can see it now and, smell the dirt. We lived in Forks, Washington, near the rainforest. Transplants from San Franscio, the bright flowers were such a welcome sight. At the end of the season, we dug the Dalhias up for winter, marking their names we said goodbye until next season. I miss my Grandma, her loving hand and, her Dalhias. Thank you!

I'm in Canada and am always envious of the beautiful UK gardens. I discovered that Proven Winner's in Canada come in black plant cans..not white like Laura always has. So..I check labels carefully to find them. They are amazing, if you can get them 🌻

Laura, I finally made it out west from IA on vacation for my graduation gift and had to stop at Andrew's. It was quite the experience. Beautiful place plants and people. Extremely helpful. I bought two tree peony red and pink and a sweet potato vine none of these can I find back home. I also bought a pot. I was briefly star struck when your mom came up to me and started talking she's a peach with excellent taste in music.. The music playing inside Andrew's was everything! I could have broke out in soft shoe! Great selection of plants I could have spent a fortune there. Love it and I think I'll stop back by on my way home. Heavens look at that wind!! You almost turned into Dorothy in Wizard of Oz.. . We have gusting here today in Traverse City, Michigan, as well. Horrible wind gusts & our neighborhood is surrounding by matured mix of trees, always a concern when wind gets so bad. .Came out after supper, to check on my yard .2 of my Daisy trees still in containers knocked over, 3 of my hanging baskets, on shepherd hooks went for a ride...but all faired ok. Incredible to say the least. Thanks for sharing. I grew 45 Dahlias this past Summer. Alot work, but really worth it. Haven't met anyone yet who dislikes a bouquet of them.

Morning! I live in a hot and humid zone 6, and haven’t taken out my glads yet, so maybe you don’t have to either. We didn’t get that 52” of snow that year you did, but here on the east coast, we’ve had just a bit more of snow than you every year after. Maybe one year we had the same, and even so, we didn’t get that much more the other years. Haven’t done the dahlias yet, but for four years, I’ve kept the dahlias in because my back wasn’t going to take them out like I did their first year. Oh and they all pop up again👌. Thanks for all the years, I still will rewatch even from your last home. God bless you and your family and for giving me something pretty to always watch😁

I finally got my dahlias in the ground yesterday. We have been having rain off and on almost everyday for the last two weeks and this week it's forecasted to be rain rain rain. The temps had been low so I worried about rot. Same with the caladium and elephant ears. What a year! On the other hand with this much rain my perennials and trees are just fantastic!!!!!
