We have a gas gator with a lift for the end (AND seats 4!) My husband did something to quiet the muffler noise because, I agree it was LOUD! We only have less than an acre but I love helping family and friends with their yard work/projects.

The concrete/cement features y'all have by themselves, make utilizing the ability to own a tractor very practical! The cost of hired hours of equipment for that only purpose makes it a wise and sensible investment! I love that you guys don't buy just for the sake of having, most that do end with not "having" much. Those like y'all usually have so much they share and bless others with the overages or what they've "out grown". Y'all are an AWESOME example of how a young couple can build and have their needs met along with the fortune of wants accumulated along the way. We currently have a 6500 sq ft lot in town, but are considering buying my husbands original family homestead that is 44 acres, with about 20 acres of farmable land. This is putting the reality of the infrastructure of what we will eventually need into perspective. I’ve daydreamed about having a homestead for years, but taking the plunge is pretty scary. @@ritasicari7518 YES! I love their channel. Such a laid back cool family. I also like the channel You Can’t Eat the Grass, which is something I’ve said for years. I’ve basically treated our spot in town as if it were a veggie farm, I just cut in my beds to look like flower beds, as we knew we weren’t going to be here for long and your average in town home dweller doesn’t want an entire yard that’s a veg patch. 😂 When the time comes to move, I’m going to fill in the non flower sections of the garden with flowers and badaboom landscaped yard.

I had the big steel cart, I LOVED it, but if you have a Very Hilly yard like mine, its a bugger and way too heavy to keep pulling up and down the yard. Now its a ‘coffee’ table spray painted black and sits by our fire-pit and outside furniture...looks great and works beautifully.

I bought two this fall (the 4 cubic foot dump cart and a fabric sided foldable Gorilla cart because I dont have room to store two regular carts) and its been a game changer! I wish I had it this spring when I put in 40 cubic feet of bagged soil. Its made buying bulk mulch and compost an option for me and I hope might save me some cost in the long run because of it.

We have been on a similar journey from buckets to a Gator. This spring my husband bought me a Gator. It is the stripped down gas version but I love it. I had a spinal fusion 3 years ago and it has made my life so much easier. We have an acre and have used it a lot. It makes hauling debris, plants, supplies, etc... so much easier.

I bought the Gardener's Supply All Terrain Landscaper's Wagon. I have a half acre yard and this is works well. Two large Tub Trugs fit perfectly. The huge tires roll easily and the mesh is easy to hose off.

I found this video very helpful on this topic. I myself had been trying to remember the thing that you and Aaron finally remembered for me and that is the 10 foot by 10 foot tarp with handles on all four sides. I couldn't remember it for the life of me. I have to order one in the morning as I have two small trees 🌲that will be taken out soon. One tree is dead but the other isn't and it's eight feet high by six feet wide on the top. Whew ........thanks as always for the beautiful work that you and Aaron put into your videos. Blessings 🙏❤️

My go to is the Garden Glider ,I work alone and this handy item let's me move anything , bags of soil , potted trees, filled pots etc move across asphalt, grass, soil . The 🏡Garden Glider is also made very well and is holding up beautifully.

I have an average sized yard and smallish garden areas and I LOVE my 5 gal bucket, I use it constantly. I just purchased the pop up bag at the end of the year this year and it was wonderful when I was emptying my pots at the end of the season. I'm sure it will get tons of use. To keep it clean, I line it with a Hefty 39 gallon trash bag so that I can just pull it out when full and pop it in the trash. Excellent and very helpful video. Been using a poly cart with dump feature for several years and will never go back to a wheelbarrow. Other must haves are my Atlas gloves, felco pruners, hand spade, tub trugs, kangaroo pop up bag, and my old faithful the 5 gallon bucket. Many more tools but these items are in constant use.

Love, love, love my Gorilla Cart! I have the 4 cu. ft. that I use daily on my 2 acres. I bought it after I saw the video you did on Gorilla Carts. Way less painful than using a wheelbarrow! One thing for people to keep in mind when selecting a size--when really full/heavy, I have had it roll and bump into me and almost knock me over (I'm only 5'3"). No big deal with the 4 cu. ft., but with the larger size if you have hilly property, you may want to consider your strength and size in case a full Gorilla Cart decides to roll towards you while you are working. It would be nice if they had brakes. Nonetheless, every gardener needs one! I might pick up a pop-up bag, leaf tarp, and the flower caddy after watching this video! Thanks for the great information!

Hi Laura and Aaron! This review of the different items you use for hauling things was very helpful, especially how you talked about what you started with up to what you use now. The DeWitt garden tarp was sold out on Amazon, but I found a smaller one that is approx. 5'x5' and it is the perfect size for me. Anything bigger would be too big. Anyway, it was a game changer when I pulled the plants out of our raised beds and flower pots. I'm so glad I got it and I'm kinda glad they didn't have the larger one because it would have been too big for me to handle. Thank you so much for sharing!

I found that living on 1 acre for me was buying a golf cart, I can lift the seat in back and it makes a great place for garden clippings and then I can just pull it off the tarp and into my mulch pile.

I have a Carts Vermont, medium cart which I love. It has hauled dirt, rocks, plants, wood etc. One feature I really like is the fact I can load a heavy rock or slab of cement onto the end as the cart is on its front and then pull the handle down and the heavy thing is now IN my cart. It has allowed me to move things I can not pick up. This one has lasted 10 years and is going strong. I consider it essential to having a yard.

Have the Fiskars pop-up bag - had it for three years now. Hubby brought one strap when he 'jerked' the bag up off the ground to load it into the car to the compost dump...outside of that...it's holding up fantastic! I would HIGHLY recommend this for any gardener!!

This was terrific advice. I use several 5 gallon pails as well. I took 2 of them and drilled holes in the bottom for weeding. I leave the pail right in the garden until it's full and if it rains I don't worry about it filling with water. Our gator is my favorite piece of equipment. My husband strongly suggested the windshield and roof which I'm so glad we got. It gives me a bit more protection when the weather isn't very nice. The only downfall is that the windshield can get a bit dirty and you have to be careful cleaning as it is plexiglass. I do not have doors on mine which would be a bother. We did get the electric dump too. Ours is motorized but I'm not sure the model (J. Deere) but it doesn't seem loud.

I’m surprised you didn’t mention trugs. I love these. We live on a farm and I have a large garden area. Our Ranger (similar to a gator) is used a lot. We like our skid steer better than our tractors. It’s easier for me to handle. We have forks, a tree spade, 3 different kinds of buckets. We use it to turn the compost as I compost on a large scale. The ten foot bucket is great for moving snow and filling with garden cleanup. It’s nice to have different options for different jobs.

We are senior adults and are in the process of developing and building on a huge chunk of land. You always seem to be steps ahead of us with your projects. When we were looking at a "lawn tractor," for 5 acres, the dealer suggested a zero turn mower because it went so much faster and made mowing more fun, which means you want to do it, it also means when you hook a cart to it, that goes pretty fast too unless the load is heavy or wobbly.

My dad is an orchardist in Washington State, and we have had our gator for 25 years. It has done more work than you can possibly imagine every single day of those 25 years, at a commercial agriculture level. It truly is the best thing we've ever invested in and we would sell a kidney to buy another if we lost ours. Highly, highly recommend.

This was so helpful!! I’m realizing now that I should probably move from a bucket to something like a small cart. My gardening journey started from being inspired by you. I love my metal cart and I agree with Laura that the sides are not needed. I never put them on. One thing I am considering buying is an attachment for a 5 gallon bucket...kind-of like a tool belt for a bucket🤣 where I can carry around tools, string, even fertilizers or products such as bug be gone or my fungicide so I don't have to go back to my shed for every little thing.

Regarding wheelbarrows, we have some very steep hills in our yard. We got an electric wheelbarrow to help make it easier to haul heavy loads up those hills. Dramatic improvement! My husband likes blue, lol, so we got this one from Amazon. I’m with you on the wheel barrow opinion. We used one and still do occasionally but Gorilla karts are lifesavers. We have the 4cf size and I’d probably prefer the 7 just to have the bigger tires. We also purchased a utility trailer when we bought our John Deere mower and that offsets the need to pull the Gorilla over uneven ground so much. We have 12 acres and while a Gator would be a lot of fun, we don’t have much away from the house that needs that kind of hauling. I’d say the majority of our neighbors have one...gas powered and noisy...and use for joy riding around the neighborhood. In the summer it’s like the after-dinner thing to do here...like a parade almost!

As a 78 year old, active gardener, in a medium sized garden, I would love to have a four wheel, non-lift wheelbarrow. This design allows you to simply push it, and not lift when it is heavy. If you can find this, they are expensive and often large to store.

We have a Japanese mini truck with a dump bed. I love it for working around my yard! I use it for big weeding projects, leaves, cleaning out the chicken coop, moving dirt and mulch, carting chicken food and pine shavings. I can also use it to drive my new plants to their new spots as well.

I am a serious re- purposer so, in addition to my steel garden wagon, I saved the bucket from a worn out 5 gal shop vac ( with wheels)- smooth surfaces only- the chassis from my push mower with a pad mounted on top, and a 50 gal vinyl trash can on wheels. The last one is a work horse for mulch, firewood, leaves and large shrub trimmings.

I am always on the lookout for things to use in my gardening work! I agree with you on the hard bottom pop ups! I do have a lot of the things you featured in this video! I really appreciate your truthfulness, your critics on items has helped me make the right choice for my needs! Since I Iive on a family farm, I do have access to large machinery but I do like to have my own smaller gardening equipment!🙂🚜🌿

I got the big gorilla cart for Christmas about 6 years ago and I still have it and use it very often. In the summer I said I want to be more efficient like Laura wink wink and I told hubby I needed a tractor for my cart and well he got one from someone that had an old antique I said no to and we traded with friends and I got a John Deere without the deck - I was giddy happy. It was perfect! I have an acre and a quarter and I pull it light duty just plants and use the tractor when I moving mulch and such. I want the John Deere cart just because it matches 😆

We have less than an acre and my husband bought a riding mower/ tractor. Our flat yard is like 1/8 an acre and the rest is on a 30’ slope into forest! Talk about overbuying!!! The mower literally can’t handle the slope!!! 🤣🤣🤣. I am going to get the medium dump cart though for Christmas. All because of this great review! 😘😘😘

I purchased my Kangaroo Garden Bag 3 years ago this week thanks to Laura. Love, love, love it. I just have a “normal” subdivision lot and use it a lot. I love that I can drag it on the grass when it is full and not have to worry about ruining /ripping the bottom. Also, it is nice to store in the garage because it can collapse.

We bought a dolly from Costco to move a fridge, since then we have used it to moved huge pots, logs, rocks, concrete pillars and numerous other things. It rolls pretty well on both dirt and gravel as long as the gravel is not too deep or the object not too heavy (100-200lb). We have even used it as a ramp from the truck bed to slide things down. It even can be moved into and angled position and rolled...we had no idea when we bought it all the things we would use it for.
